Arrr me 'earties, I go down below fer a bit o' work, come back up and there are pages full 'o chit-chat, and most of it about nasty powdered milk, smushy vienna sausages and the likes .. yuck.

I agree tho, I was little but remember powdered milk, it's impossible to describe, in fact it's sooo nasty I'm sure most normal people would prefer water in their cereal. If you've ever had it, you will never forget it.

Now a good memory is sitting on the porch steps helping my mother churn ice-cream. I can almost ..almost remember how it tastes even now .....

As for you rt, I'm afraid the only food I sampled when I passed through your state a couple times were served cold in a bottle, arrrrrr!

If you're talking about the caddy, I was lucky enough to win it. If you're talking about the collection....... a lot of pillaging.:evil:

it was the caddy :p I know the sort of coin the rest goes for, a considerable amount of plunder you've managed to amass:toast: can I get in on your next raiding party? :evil:

& yes water on cereal is better than powdered milk....yuck!!!!

Arrr, I just replied to a PM, someone may be having a problem with their RSM, got me curious to the history of repairs.

According to me spreadsheet, here are some figures about the repair percentages vs models;

Mark 1 to 5.1 (old style with end caps holding electronics)

Failure rate - needing to be sent back in - 30%

Mark 6-10 (new style with electronics in body)

Failure rate - needing to be sent back in - 13%

Of all the various problems that could afflict a RSM, 21% of them are wonky push buttons. These are the best 12 mm push buttons I have found so far, many builders use them but maybe I should keep looking. That is a pretty high failure rate.

Thats a pretty significant drop in repairs from the old to new style. I will be curious to see what happens with the next generation mods over time. Less time doing repairs, more time making mods! heh heh.

I think it's a common problem with buttons in general, quite difficult to get a batch that performs exactly the same. On my silver bullets and the double barrel head all 3 buttons perform slightly different. The type that you use seems to be the most consistent, i have it on 3 mods and only one feels like it could be a bit better.

Were there any notable difference on failure rate between chrome and black button?
My Cutlass 5.1 is chrome button and it never gave me any problem, where as my Destroyer is black button and it used to act up once a while although it's been working flawlessly last couple months. I was wondering if the black coating inside the button has something to with it. My friend's Cutlass 5.1 has black button also, and he said he used to get occassional mis-fires for first while but then it all went away and works perfectly now.
