Cutting the groove for the inlay. Had to do it by hand with a wood chisel. Clamping it down heard a crack and could see a small crack where the wood was thin. So I added some more glue and clamped the crack. Should be ok. I have my fingets crossed. Almost bought a router table today. Should have. Was afraid to do it freehand with my big router.

I'm not sure if I'll attempt inlay or not...would be pretty but hard. Maybe I'll just put a gemstone in to make it different

Cracks like that happen on occasion, superglue is a woodworkers friend. It also is a good wood stabilizer, it will soak into the grain and harden clear so can be used to repair and stabilize soft spots, checks, chip outs and stuff :)

Busy busy day, trying to get the rest of this batch built, almost done. Tomorrow should see the rest of them built and I can begin the final coats of finish. Then I can take a little time to play with the Mark-V's some more.

Spacekitty, I think I still need your E-mail and shipping address? I'll check my PM box again, maybe I missed it.

If you own a table saw, if you set a shallow depth and the throat plate is nice and firm you can cut nice inlay channels even using a ATB blade. That is one method I use for doing inlay channels.

Oh yeah, remember the #1 rule for hand chiseling, Sharp! I have a prized set of 3 wood chisels that were made in British occupied Germany, made just after the conclusion of WW 2. They cut even Wenge fairly easily and stay sharp for many many cuts.

Thanks for the thoughts Brian. I actually picked up some superglue for any mishaps. Realistically even if it completely breaks I should be able to re-glue it since the outside seam is under the inlay.

Im all for sharp chisels. Bought these to replace my old ones along with a pile of new router blades to do my edges. Was a really good excuse to buy tools LMAO. Sooo Once I sand and rout tomorrow, if she remains intact she might survive her voyage to completion.

I thought about using my table saw but the box is so small and me being blind in one eye didnt seem like a good idea. Ive come super close to losing a finger a few different times in the last few weeks. Figure Ill wait till after the beach to chop a finger off :p
