I can't recall who asked for it, but I've added an extra bonus to the re-design.

The switching regulator adjustment is on the bottom along with the voltage display, and the kill switch is now a two way switch, one way gives atomizer voltage, the other way checks battery voltage for AW IMR users with the regulator out of the circuit (that is also to be used as the safety/off setting). It's been a bugger to design the end cap to hold all the electronics and wiring for this tho, all those years of electronics work finally paying off :D

Neat huh!

WOW that is really cool! They just keep getting better and better!

Ok, been a long day at work, and the seas were a bit rough so the new crewmates been barfing all day... not a good day at sea :(

But! Finally finished the electronics and they came out as good as I had hoped they would. Installed them into the boxes and finished the basic edging and tomorrow I finish sanding and can start on final assembly and the finish, whew ...

Usually when doing a new design I make a few test mods, but this time I am designing on the fly so it's going much slower than usual for this first run with the new regulators and switches, but it is progressing.

Hope that will tide you over for a day, should have a pic or two tomorrow night of the ladies with their makeup on, arrrr

Just catching up for today and,

I LIKE IT!!!

On mine, I like the way the grain on the wood continues through the main and the opening side of the body looking like one piece of wood. I don't think it was like that on your previous marblewood mod, so I was going to ask you if it's possible to make it that way but decided not to go too picky.
And you just made it that way!

Just checking, but I think everyone wanted Shiny Nickel switches and Large SS catch cups, yes?

Yes.

I really do think that combo is beautiful and I think the rounded edges will make it look a bit more... pretty? Feminine? Not saying rounded = girlie... just on mine!

To be honest, I was bit skeptical about your wood choice at first, unsure of how it'll look.
But now I see it and I think it looks awesome. Looks original and humbly elegant at the same time.
I would definately go round edges on that one. It'll make it look sexier.
So I say good choice on that as well pchela!

From what I saw in the previous batch pictures in this thread, if it looks good at this point it's only a matter of how much better it'll look when finalized. So I'm all excited!

One question...
Captain, is that wenge caps on mine look anything similar to this wenge?

It's bit hard to tell from the picture.
And wenge seem to have very different patterns from one to the other, so I'm just curious.

So, this means you can check the battery voltage without heating the atomizer right?
Does the voltage drop when you use the battery for a while after a charge?

Anyways... from the left in the picture, the first one is pchela's, second one is mine, third one is brian's, and that all-ziricote one is tierrataz's?

We should have a party for sharing the babies with same birth date! :)

The wenge on yours is more of a solid black, but thats typical of side grain, and yeah now you can check battery voltage without heating up the atty. It will read out the combined voltage of both batteries.

Nice "bonus"... congratulations to the first second generation fifth generation err.. Cutlass owners! -Magnus

Last generation? I can't think of any further upgrades they need, at least I hope not!

Hey Cappy! Have you had a chance to test the voltage range on the new reg?

Not yet, but according to the data sheet it can provide 3 to 13 volts, so the max would be whatever the batteries can provide, probably around 8.3v maximum, less as the batteries discharge down to 7.4v I would think. I will test them later this evening to be sure and let ya know.

Well, all five have been assembled except for the switch and atty connector and have gotten their first coat of sealer. I will add a second coat of sealer next and then finish assembly, then a couple more coats of finish and they are done. Probably be ready to ship Saturday.

Time to start thinking about the next batch. I think I will make 6 VV and 2 3.7v this time, I wonder if there is anyone still interested in pre-ordering?

Thats where things stand atm :)
