Hi again me merry mates, time to take a short break.

Finished course sanding of the Buccaneers, next I put on a coat of finish to seal the wood and expose any sanding defects.

Here is a picture of the whole batch I took last night, right before they had course sanding, final routing and such.

And here is a pic of the first four after that was done and a single coat of finish was applied.

Big difference already eh? Let's see, the first two are preorders, the third is mahogany and cebruva I think, and the last is a Padauk box with Yaya end and inlays that was a preordered that was canceled. He wanted rounded edges and offset atty then he decided he didn't want it at all! lol

The bench sander was heating up really bad, so instead of more work on the mods, I have to stop and tear it apart. Probably just needs to be cleaned/oiled ... sigh...

Happy monday you sea dogs, Yarr!

Looking good Cappy!!

Looking good Cappy!!

Here are the rest of them after sanding, no finish on them except the 4 from earlier. What do you think of the new process? I can fit seams even tighter now, lol, hard to tell where the sides meet in some of the pics.... Yarrr!

The unclaimed ones should be up for sale in a couple days, I will post them on the website then. I gave them numbers which makes them official survivors (12 out of 15 survived, I am a cruel and harsh critic of myself) :D

Break time!

Capn does mark IV take 18350 or 18650 batt if i order the vv model?

Good morning to you and everyone dropping in.

The Mark-4 variable volt does use 18350 batts, as for ordering, only 1 sale in 10 is a pre order it seems, so if you want to order a mod give me your wish list and I will include it in the next batch I make for that mod type. That seems to be working out the best for everyone. I've even disabled pre-orders on the website but will still take them from ECF members.

I'm not sure why pre-ordering is not popular, maybe too many people have gotten burned in the past or they hate to wait the 8 days to get their mods, I dunno.

Busy day again, lots of Buccaneers need fine sanding then on to assembly. Bunch of Scallywags waiting to be routed, even a few Misty models and DIY kits crying for attention.

I got a magnet in backwards on the beautiful custom order Padauk mod, now I gotta try to get it out! Arrrrrgggg...

Off we go, shift colours, underway!

I guess it's time to post basic information about prices and ordering. The thread has gotten pretty big and info has gotten burried.

Website - Link in my signature - Red Sky Mods - Home

Available wood types - All listed on website

Pre orders - Available to ECF members only, post on this thread or send me a PM. I need main body wood, end cap wood and inlay wood types. Include style of inlay (many examples are posted on 'End caps & Inlay" page.

Model Price;

Mark-III 'Scallywag', 3.7v, 14500 batt, 510 atty, 3 ml bottle, Bottom Feeder
$125.00

Mark-III DIY Kit - $45.00

Mark-IV 'Buccaneer', 3.7v, 18650 batt, 510 atty, 6 ml bottle, Bottom Feeder
$140.00

Mark-IV DIY Kit, 3.7v - $55 (not yet available)

Mark-IV, 5 volt or Variable Volt, 18350 batt, 510 atty, 6 ml bottle, Bottom Feeder
$155.00

Mark-IV DIY VV Kit - $70 (not yet available)

Pre ordering does not raise the cost of the mod, unless you want a complex inlay. Time is the same for construction, why charge more?

6 month warranty on parts/labor on premade PV's.

I will make a custom mod with an inlay supplied by you. PM me and we will discuss it.

When I post pictures of PV's, I will indicate which are pre orders and which are available to anyone. The website will always show current box mods for sale. The price of some may be higher/lower due to wood type/Inlay.

To order a DIY Kit, go on the website to the DIY Page, use the order form and select wood type desired from drop down menu. The price is the same for any type selected.

ECF members never pay shipping charge, just mention your member name.

Hope I answered more questions than I raised.

Change my order to a variable volt then, didn't know they were available yet, as for the cedar if you don't think it's going to stand the test of time let me know so I can ponder. I don't want to be having to handle it with kit gloves, I drop most of my mods once in awhile.

There is suddenly a lot of interest in the VV Mark-IV, so I ordered some more VV parts and I will see if I can retrofit some of the 3.7v to VV for the people asking for VV.

It will take a few days for parts to arrive & upgrade more of them. Will let you know how it goes.

Yarrrr...ha!

AH, okey doke, will do. May add a day or two to build time but will do it if I can. The cocobolo end caps on the mod are what would hit the floor first if you drop it, and cocobolo is very hard, should be almost as tough as any wood mod can be.
