While not an essential component of a variable voltage PV, a built-in digital meter is VERY handy.

Only one of my various VV plastic-box mods has a built-in meter: my Big Splash by Shan Burkholder. And yes, she put the meter on the bottom face of the box, which is a perfectly logical and convenient location for one. Hers is also wired separately from the firing button, so that the meter doesn't turn on during vaping, but instead has its own momentary switch. Not a necessity, but a nice touch. (Not meant to suggest that you should do so, since the thickness of the wood end caps makes that extra small switch impractical. Wiring the meter to the firing button would be more than good enough.)

For the rest of my VV boxes, I have the madvapes meter in the white plastic case with 510 connectors on both ends, male on one and female on the other. Works fine on most linear regulators (though not on some switching regulators or mosfet boards). Still, it's something of a PITA to use, since the atty/carto has to be unscrewed and the meter screwed on to accurately set the voltage. Not very efficient and somewhat less than elegant.

Once again, Brian, your decision to try to accommodate Drottwiler's request demonstrates sincere responsiveness to your customer base. (Jeez, am I blowing smoke here or what? Maybe a little, but mostly it's just telling the truth...) This flexibility is just one more reason all the shipmates here expect you to achieve success and (we hope) financial independence in these dark times.

It does appear that the only place to mount one is facing down without totally re designing the box and then it wouldn't look like a Redsky box anymore.

I have used the Madvapes meter and it works well except the solder in the connector prevents the feed tube from going in so I had to desolder the center post and resolder the wire to the outer side of the post to make room.

Thanks for the kind words, I will do my best to stay that way :)

Hooray for Drott!!!

Cap'n, what is that beautiful green inlay? I love it!

Sugi Black Matrix Recon-Stone
Arizona Jade Recon-Stone

I'm going to try to work it, if that doesn't pan out I will try other materials. I would like to expand the inlay selection a bit for more variation.

I really want to order a vv DIY kit but don't know what to buy to Finnish wood if purchased can I request instructions for finishing wood's ?. I'm lookin to purchase this week

Good question.

Sure, I can include instructions for an easy yet beautiful finish in the Kit.

Perhaps I should also add a small suggestion/instruction for finishing wood on the website as well.

Honestly that would be a great help I plan on braking out my wood burning skills but I just never finished wood . I think it will come out to 70 after shipping with the vv put together .

Okey dokey, there is a handy order form on the DIY page so I get a exact list of everything you wish. Whenever your ready just fill it out and I will get to work on it.

Thanks for looking, hope to see you around the thread
