Ahoy to the crew of the Red Sky!!
Been really busy lately, planning a Caribbean voyage for next month. Wifey and I will be celebrating our next anniversary on the Carnival Legend.
Looking back through the thread, I'm seeing some more beautiful work by Cap'n Brian!!
I see that we have a soon-to-be first time Grandma, congrats!! We have a bunch of 'em (17)!! I swear they can be more expensive than having your own children sometimes, but at least when you're done spoiling them, you get to send them home for their parents to deal with!

I've finally decided on a name for my piece of the Capn's art, since she's constructed of some exceptionally beautiful Hawaiian Koa, and she produces huge amounts of vapor, she has been christened "LOIHI".

Now back to plotting courses and lurking!!

Sorry to .... in here... but I just got my charger and batts about an hour ago and I'm SOOOOO excited!!!!! Allmost as much as the day my mod arrived.... but now, because after all this time, I am FINALLY going to be able to use it!!
WooHoo!!!!! th_piratecheerssmiley.gifdanse1.gif buds.jpg th_1sm264pirate.gif

I will admit that I am a wee bit nervous about it, cuz this is my first time using these kind of batts... and I have heard people talk about not letting them charge past a certain point.

What is that?? And how long should it take the first time?? And then after that....

Thanks for this, and any other advice you can give me!!! thumb_love_pirate_ani.gif

Hi spacekitty. do you have a multimeter? what kind of charger did you get? (and what brand of batteries)

Yes, I have a multimeter... which I barely know how to use... LOL!!

I got the Trustfire TR-001 charger and the Trustfire 18350 batts... (they were out of the Ultrafire anyway) I figured rather than get 2 sets of those, I would wait until I can get some of the AW ones.

So I took some of the money and bought a new atty and some drip tips that were on sale at another place... afterall, it wouldn't do to christen Pandora's Mist on her Maiden Voyage with used hardware, now would it??? Arrrrrrr!!!!!!

ok. you should just be able to pull them off the charger when the light goes green. the multimeter is handy to test what they come off reading. you should also use it to make sure the voltage on the batteries don't drop to low (in other words don't just vape until the batteries completely drain like you would an ego. i'm not familiar with those batteries so maybe someone else will chime in:unsure:

OK The TR001 charger shuts off when it gets to the right voltage. HOWEVER if those batts are IMR check them after the first few charges and make sure they dont go too far beyond 4.2 volts.

If they are IMR make sure you dont overdischarge them. If you do they wont hurt you but they will not recharge right. Try to pull them off before they get below 3.2 volts.

Batt info I have a hard time keeping straight. I "think" protected batts have memory, so you don't want to run them below 3.7V or you shorten their life. I can usually tell @3.89V on my regular devices. Can't say why that magic number, but 9 times outta 10, when I meter them before charging, that's where they are.

I know the AW IMRs do not charge fully until they have cycled a few times.

Best idea is to dedicate some time to reading up here on batts. Tons of info in the forums. I'd start with Roly's post....important stuff!!!

WoW!! Thanks everyone!! They only took about 1 1/2 hr. to charge... the lights turned green but I don't know about it shutting off cuz I was keeping a pretty close eye on it. They both checked out at 4.2V... so I guess I'm good to go now!! (I do know that they go in upside down... ha!!)

How long does the charge usually last, just so I can kinda check on them?? Anything I need to know about filling the bottle, too?? It looks like it's set up for the stand and fill (?) right now...

OMG!!! I'm getting so excited now!!! I have panic/anxiety disorder (seriously!) but I took my meds so I should be Ok... hyper.gif LOL!!

NOTE: I just found the instructions on filling the bottle...

My two cents, if you have the Trustfire 18350's, then yes, put them in the charger and light turns green, they are fully charged. When you vape with them they will discharge then suddenly stop as the protection circuit has determined it's time to charge them.

Agree, try not to leave them in the charger overnight, but I usually get a full day vaping off a charge so if they go dead at night, put the new ones in and charge the old ones in the morning, you have plenty of spare time to do that.

Good grief...all that waiting, the suspense! Please please please my little mod.... work for her!

Remember you can just pull the little tubes out of the bottle to turn it into a Tilt & shoot instead of a messy upright type...good luck!
