Thanks for posting this info Phee... I learned about removing the bridge and salvaged a few "dead" atty's but did not think to just remove the fibers, I will have to give that a try.

Can anyone direct me to the info about the auto drip mod? Thanks! :D

if you're looking for the auto-drip, look for the 'spring mod' thats the only auto-drip mod i know besides Carlos' Box.

here's the video i saw a while back

YouTube - Joye 510 cartridge mod auto drip mod "ADM"

Wow. I just removed the bridge from a bunch of 901 attys that died, and now I see why...there were black lumps of wick all around the heating coil. I've removed the bridge and wick from my current atty (only been using it a couple of days) and so far, so good.

Don't find the vapour too warm with the Prodigy, but I am getting the hang of dripping directly on the coil with my t-tips. Tends to run down the sides of the atty. Can definitely get more vapour and TH from a much shorter drag now. Thanks Phee! Now to see if I can do this to my 801's, I may need to attach a light to my head!

I wonder if this will make atty's last longer? My latest lasted me from Feb 19 to Mar 4th. I'll see how long this modded one lasts. Maybe it's the crusty wick situation that burns them out so fast? one of my heating coils looked like a lump of coal with all the gunk on it.

Tried this mod with a spare 510 atty last night. Drip with very little vapor. Also have to constantly top up. I dripped 2 drops. First drag was pathetic. 2nd drag was worse. I could only last about 5 drags before I could taste the burnt smell and I had to top up atty again.

Vapor production is nothing like what others have said here. It was working excellently before I removed the wick.

I do believe this is not recommended for anyone wanting to use carts.

For dripping, I have yet to find a better solution. Removing the wick and bridge is the good tip/trick, but your mileage may vary. In my experience a 510 atomizer with no bridge and no wick holds one less drop of liquid. 3 drops will most likely flood and you have to keep it around 2 (viscosity of liquid factors in). I have used the same 510 atomizer with no bridge and no wick for a long time now and it still performs like new with proper cleaning and dry burns. Keep in mind this was not a dead or dying atomizer, it was brand new. I have used this atomizer at 3v 3.7v 4.5v 6v, flooded it so many times, dry burned it numerous times. Nothing seems to stop it.

Flooding...

Some 510s flood more than others. I have a brand new 510 with nothing removed and the thing floods like crazy. The bridge happens to be slanted and not seated properly.

Finally, I would not recommend this to a new user still trying to figure things out.

It could be a faulty 510 atty. It keeps flooding even with 2 drips on the atty. Little to no vapor. Burnt taste on 3rd drag.

The thing is, I tried it with 3 more 510 attys. Same result. Only time it really worked is on the 1st drag, but still very little vapor. Unless I top up the atty after every drag, otherwise, this just doesn't work for me.

Maybe others may have better results here, but I won't be taking out any more wicks from my atty in the near future.

I am so glad I came across this thread a few days ago. I only drip so this method is perfect for me. I was struggling with the method of dry burning as I could never get an orange glow- maybe because the bridge was in the way and I couldn't even see anything!!

I have been vaping for 5 months and reading up on the boards as much as possible but the videos helped me understand the parts of an atomizer and their functions and I could see them close up and compare them to mine.

MY coils are still gunky and I will be working on that BUT I get great throat hit with this method still. Vapor production is not as important as TH to me so I am happy.

Thanks for taking the time to post this!

Here's a pic of my favorite atomizer. I couldn't find my lens magnifier so sorry about the blurry pic, but you can see the general idea of how clean the coil is.

WOW- is it possible to be jealous of an atty coil??? LOL looks way better than mine..... Thank you for posting this pic! I can see the difference between yours and mine immensely :)

Update - I removed the bridge and wick from an 801 atty, and I love it. Much better TH and warmer vapour at 5V. Will do this to all my 801's!

Now...I just got a batch of 901 attys from Health Cabin, and they have a metal washer surrounding the bridge. So far, not great to drip with. Anyone ever tweaked one of these?

Phee, wow, outstanding viedos! Very clear image and very well explained!

I'm quite new and just have a silly question here - after removing the wick and bridge, I can see a white rectangle surrounded by coil right? So do I trip inside the white rectangle or on and around the coil?

Many thanks~~

u can drip directly onto the coil. 2-3 drops at the very most, be careful with what you're doing, removing the wick is one thing but removing the bridge all together is a bit bolder =]

somewhere out there......
I haven't tasted any burnt taste since doing this and these 510 atties previously gave me the worst burnt taste you can imagine... so I just put them aside until I saw this video.... simply fantastic... now I have an arsenal of atties that I thought were no good.... thanks for the video. Perfectly detailed with the close ups.... I haven't screw up one 510 attie yet thanks to such detail. lol...

I already got a lot of vapor before so I cant tell the difference but the taste is heavenly.... :)
