I received my Giantomizers on 3-24-11. I bought a box of 5.
Initial eyeballing of them is a pretty neat design. I like the smooth feel but they aren't slick. I don't like the fact that the CE2's can't be replaced in them, especially at the price for one. It could be possible I guess, but I won't know until I actually kill one. I opened all 5 and did a 1 second burst and low and behold, one is DOA. A pricey malfunction from the factory and goes to show that their quality control hasn't changed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right out of the box:
I filled one of them up with 24mg coconut creme from another vendor. The mix is 50/50. I dripped a drop straight onto the wick in the center. Replaced mouthpiece, and let it sit for a couple of minutes to allow the wick to absorb.
I filled a second one, while waiting on the first, with 1963 18mg from a different vendor. The mix is 67/33 (I never could understand this ratio but hey it's good joooose). Again, I dripped a drop straight onto the wick in the center. Replaced mouthpiece, and let it sit for a couple of minutes while I test the first one I filled.
I snitched my hubby's ProVari back, to test these on. Okay, you would crack a gut laughing at me since I have to sit the ProVari on the desk, bend over it, and fire it to get a draw. My hands are really acting up today but I wanted to be able to adjust the voltage fairly quickly so this was the device I used. Giantomizer is 2.8ohm running at 3.8v. You need a 510 to 510 extension to use these on devices other than the eGo or just cut the skirt off.
I screwed the coconut creme on. First impression was a dry TH to the point my eyes were watering. I tipped it over a little to hopefully let it juice the wick better. Ummmm...still didn't work without the burning TH. Please keep in mind that this was the second draw.
I got to thinking about the dry, harsh TH. Hmmm...I took the mouthpiece off and took the silicone cup out of it. With a box knife, I cut the wick slots open just a little more. Replaced everything and took another draw. It definitely made a difference.
I fooled with the voltages up to 4v and really didn't have an issue other than 2 times. I had to tilt the Giantomizer down for a second to remoisten the wick some. I take long draws, about 5-8 seconds a pop, and exhaled a cloud. Flavor so far has been spot on without much loss. Coconut is a fairly weak juice in any device but I can taste it in this.
On to number 2 with the 67/33 mix. This one has not been tweaked in any way as of yet. I set the ProVari on 3.8v, took a draw and darn near chocked. Wow, harsh TH again even with higher PG. I did the same thing as the first. Took it apart, removed the silicone cup, and cut the openings a little bit wider. Replaced everything, and now it's working just fine. 1963 isn't too bad in this.
Grant it, I've only had them in my hands for an hour so I don't know if there will be any leaking. I don't lay my mods on their sides at anytime. They are always upright or stuck to my face.
Also, I didn't do the 20 mouthfuls that I've read about as the "break in period."

2 hours later:
After vaping on the coconut creme Giantomizer, I noticed gurgling when I would take a draw but no leakage, which is odd but a good thing. I even tried to blow it out. Nothing came out so I don't know why the gurgling. Flavor is improving even more and the vapor is getting heavier, not that it was bad to begin with other than the harshness before modding.
On the 1963 Giantomizer, no gurgling and again, taste and vapor are steadily improving.
I've noticed that the draw on both of these are airier than the CE2's I'm used too but really they are putting out vast amounts of clouds so it's really not a big deal to me. Just a headsup for people who like a tighter draw.
I've also bounced the voltage around some. 3.7-4.5v but nothing higher as I didn't want to pop one. Too pricey to risk it. Vapor is slightly warm. Not too hot or cold. It is slightly warmer than the standard 901 atomizer for comparison.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My over-all-thought on these:
Pro's
Good concept.
Nice look to them.
Nice large mouthpiece.
Nice vapor production.
Good taste once you get past the breakin period.
Con's
Not a plug -n- play device.
Wicking issue still remains. My resolve, needs bigger wick slots in the silicone cup.
Needs to be made to fit any 510 threaded battery.
Too high priced.
Cannot change the CE2 that I'm aware of but I'll try as soon as one dies.
Quality Control still isn't too whippy with Royal Smoker. A DOA giantomizer is costly for everyone.
Needs a tighter air draw. This doesn't bother me but I could see it being an issue with other folks.
So far, I haven't had the dreaded leaking issue that I've read about on either of the 2 that I've used.
Overall, not a bad concept but definitely needs tweeking especially with the silicone cup. Wicks still don't deliver what every vapor wants. Don't get me wrong, they work a little better than the old CE2's but not quite there yet. I still had to "roll" them on occasion to feed the wicks. However, I would not recommend these to a newbie. It's hard enough when you first start vaping to find the right setup, let alone, get frustrated with something that you hope can be filled and vaped. This is not the answer for a beginner. They need broke in and then they start to shine with a cloud here and there. If Royal Smoker would get on the ball and fix the problems and make them more cost effective, I could see these being a good option for everyone. Until then, it's your money...do with it as you wish. As for me, it was something new to try that involved the CE2's that I like. Not a total flop by any means but due to some issues and pricing, I'll stick to the American made tanks made by our own forum members.
