Need some troubleshooting help.

Just got my RM2 (Yay!) wrapped a coil with 32 gauge. (30 gauge is on the way so just using what I've got for now) 5 wraps on a 16 gauge needle, ohms out at 1.4, fresh of the charger battery and zilch. Nothing. Nada. Screws are tight, snugged up the connector...re-did the coil three times...all same result. REO (18490) still firing super shorty cartos just fine, just no reomizing lovin' for me.

Have you got another mod to try your RM2 on ?

Have to say that after using the REOmizer version one and an ERA I wasn't expecting the RM2 to be such a game changer. Wow!
Even with a haphazard, spaced out coil it is hitting like a locomotive. Huge thanks to all the threads and posts of what you guys have come up with lately. Other than the above mentioned connector mishap, I rolled my coil, got the air holes aligned right, rolled up a piece of cotton and haven't been able to set it down.
Special thanks to Super_X, p-dib, Statistic, Vapdiver for the wealth of pictures, videos, diagrams, and even the laughs along the way. I stay up in the Lounge too much, didn't know ya'll were down here ...... in the dirt and chasing monkeys and such.

Just got my Reo + RM2 in the mail on Saturday <WOOT!>.

This is my second Reo, I had a mini about 2 years ago and ended up selling it - just not enough battery life for me, and this was of course before the days of bottom-fed drippers.

The Reo is all that I expected - solid as a tank and hits hard with no contact issues. I got the 'black crinkle' finish and not sure I like it, it's more 'slippery' than I imagined it to be, however it looks like it would hold up to some serious abuse.

The RM2 is very nice - I had to drill out the airhole to 5/64ths, just my preference. It is producing voluminous clouds and all the flavor I would expect from a dripper+micro coil+ cotton. My only gripe is I wish the chamber was bigger....closer to the size of a Nimbus or IGO-W would be nice. With the small chamber, it overheats pretty fast and can produce a pretty hot vape (even with a large airhole). For reference, I'm using a .75 ohm 26awg micro coil.

Overall, I'm lovin' the combo and my other mods have been sitting on the shelf since Saturday. :)

Hiya guys!

I will be getting a Reomizer in a couple days. I have a couple questions please. For now I will be using a multimeter to check the ohms. When is the earliest I can check for ohms? Can it be done as soon as wrapped while the tails are still on and unmounted from the atty? I want to avoid mounting the thing only to find my ohms are way off. I'll be using AW IMR 14500s on my original mini and want around 1.5. I currently use 1.5 LRs from Rob.

Where can I get one of the black digital ohm readers you guys use?

:)

Hey Roger, I'm not sure man, but I saw it in juicejunky 's original tutorial, so I never questioned it. I do it religiously with each piece of wire before I wrap. I sometimes do batches of 4" strips over the gas burner on the cooktop. I think it may burn off any machine oil and / or other impurities on the wire too.

I have subsequently learned that the process is called annealing and some claim that it makes the wire more pliable?

I stayed in a holiday inn express last night so I want to put in my 2 cents.

Annealing is used to soften metals. You should not quench it in water but allow the wire to cool slowly. It will make it more pliable and easier to wrap your coils. Then when the coil is done to your satisfaction, reheat and quench to stiffen up the coil a bit. I have no idea what this wire is composed of, and the heating temps are not going to be exact since nobody is going to use an annealing oven to build a coil but you get the general idea.

BTW, thanks for the tutorial and video. Can't wait to get a REO and start rebuilding some coils, but alas I am just a newbie to vaping at this time.

To get an idea about coils and ohms, check our micro coils and ohms description thread.

I can't remember where they get the black box readers. I use a multimeter.

RTD carries them as to other vendors but they are all out of stock. I am trying to buy another for my son. They are well worth the $20 or so. Easy to just screw on your RBA, build a coil and meter.
