What could I be doing wrong?....
I got this rba 2.0 on Friday and have been building coils like crazy (No problem there), but I cant get any flavor.
I got an assortment of wire and string (28, 30, 32 Gauge and 2, 2.5, 3mm string) from Rob, built every imaginable ohm, but all I get is a very muted flavor compared to a Boge carto.
I also have followed this exactly, except for the cotton: REOmizer 2 / RM2 / RBA 2.0 Build To Get You Started - YouTube
Also tried several of the combinations here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/446263-micro-coils-ohms-description.html
I should also note; I have tried this with 3.7 AW IMRs and at 6 volt Tenergys on a Grand.

Lastly; I'm not blaming the device, all of you cant be wrong, I must be doing something wrong.

Thanx

The relationship of your coil to the air hole will affect the taste/flavor. That is how far out from the posts, and how far up close to the level of the hole. Try an coil about 1.5-2.0 and make sure the coil is nearer the bottom. Make the coil come out about to the hole for the juice.

I like the cotton. You might try that also.

Hey Nerak,

Yeah, I am at 1.8 now and have tried moving the coil up a down, but not much of a difference.
Another thing; Ive only been using Bobas, maybe that flavor doesnt transfer well in this device. *shrug*
I'll give it another go tomorrow with Hype and cotton.

Must be frustrating Bowtie. Am a newbie and untech, so can't be of much help. My attempts at microcoil with rolled cotton works amazingly well at around 1.7 ohm, great flavour. Did find last night on a new coil just installed that I suddenly had a blow away throat hit with almost no vapour. Saw then that my right hand tail was much bigger and higher up than my previous coils. Trimmed it down considerably and problem solved. Remembered then from this forum that they said about cotton that less is better. Found the same with silica, tails must be cut short, not laying about like snakes on the floor of the rba.

If you can, posting a picture of your current build may help us figure out what is going on.

OK, here's a few I did today, raging from 1.8 to 2.5 ohm with 30 gauge, all with the same muted taste as I was referring to in previous post.

Here's another one I just wrapped with just my fingers [No drill bit or needle (Cant seem to thread that damn string through a coil. )], 1.7 ohms and 28 gauge with silica- same result.

Since everything I can see looks good but what I can't see is how dense the cotton is, you might try to see just how "fluffy" it can be.
It needs to fill the I.D. of the coil but not be rolled tightly, it's easy enough to try it out.

Yeah Ive even done it with only a few stands, just enough to suspend the liquid, still not gettin a tasty vape.
Ah well...Just not for me. :( 3 ohm cartos @ 6 volts is my happy place I guess.

I guess I'll have to unload it. If anyone has any ideas on how to do so (comes with 28, 30, 32 wire and 2, 2.5, 3mm wick and exrta screws and extra gasket) send me a PM.
Edit: Its gone.

Thanx all.

There are those other bottom feeder things that resemble cartos that folks put on the Reo before RM2's, cisco somethings

My "other" main vape is Ithaka and it's clones, I was having a similar problem but I'm making headway with the RM2

Boba's might be the culprit here. Doesn't work with the cotton. At least not for me. And I've tried hard.
Hype does though. So if hype is good on your rm2 (and it should be) you know what is going on.

This worked for me on the first try! I'm pretty psyched up right now. I've been using cheap cartos for the past year and was getting tired of it.

I may have to push my coil down a bit. I tried to squonk to saturate the cotton wick with the cap off and noticed that the liquid coming out didn't really make much contact with the wick. So I took the bottle and dripped liquid all over the cotton until it was wet. Should I turn my Reo upside down when squonking, or does it matter? Maybe I should just push the coil lower, I don't know.

Two - When I vape, I notice that the first 5 seconds I don't feel that much flavor or vapor, but then I will hear/feel a "pop" and then the good flavor and vapor comes. I'm getting nice clouds, but I have to pull for a pretty long time to get it. Also gets the thing pretty hot so I have to wait for it to cool down. Any thoughts?

I would push your coil down, under no circumstance have I ever had to turn the Reo upside down while feeding.

2. It sounds like your coil has a slight issue. Did you make a micro coil? A few details there may help us. Wire ga, number of wraps, target resistance ect...

Idk about 5 secs unless your coil heats up really slow but the pop and then good flavor thing could be the juice. I just started puffing on a juice I had tucked away and it does that. I Fire it, takes a second, POP, then lots of delicious. If I change to a different flavor it doesn't do it.

Bob, the juice goes pretty far up the reomizer when you press the juice bottle. If you take out your drip tip, have a look down there to see the juice coming up whilst you press the juice bottle. For sure do not turn the Reo upside down. Should not get that hot, agree something is not right with your coil or something.

Ok, thanks guys. I think I'll try making a better coil. Mine is a 28 gauge, wrapped 10-11 times. I found it hard to make the coils really tight. Maybe I need the 30 gauge wire. I'd really like a looser draw. The airhole points up when I hit, but it's not positioned exactly in front of the coil. I'll need to get another o ring for that.
