I hope it's ok to post this here but I've been following the Diver thread and they have come up with a new technique for making a coil/wick setup that can be applied to the RM2. I've tried it and I now get around 20 drags per squonk.

Here's how the set up looks.
Long%20wick.jpg

I ran the long end of the wick through the RM2 top before screwing it down, then screw down the top and twisted the wick down inside the cap along the inside walls. I'm using ecowool but silica or cotton should work just as well. All that extra wick soaks up juice so you squonk less.

Here is a video of how the technique is used in the Diver. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...able-atomizer-atmistique-51.html#post10274143

Have you tried it with the RM2?

I like the idea of less squonking. I'll give this a try with cotton on my next rewicking. I've been making long tails in my RM2 but not as long as this. I have learned not to make my wicks too thick, so long and thin it'll be. Just thick enough that when it swells it touches the coils. Just have to be careful not to block the drain hole. Thanks.

This bit always confuses me!

When i say cotton yarn i mean - like in the picture - when i use cotton wool - i mean like candyfloss - cotton candy!

Both are crap anyway and will not last me more than a day or two, so now i just roll with either silica or such - besides - squonking is no more hassle than .....

'.... i dropped my Zippo and it's under the sofa! oh man!! they were in the back pocket of my jeans the entire time?' not cool.

T

i want to see it on an RM2~

I'm joining the club. Ordered my reomizer tonight. :2cool:

Nice work DG. We're here to help if you have any questions. My guess is you'll nail it out of the gate and 3 months from now you will have turned the vaping world on its AYuss with some new coil configuration :)

Much appreciated. For a long time I was hesitant about trying an RBA, but this thread makes it look pretty easy. Nice work.

Also props to Rob. I have a mini so I emailed him about getting one custom milled to fit it. Within 30 minutes I had a response and an invoice AND no charge to mill it down. It's no wonder he has such loyal customers.

Heres a little pic i drew in autoCAD of a top view of one of my RM2s. It was drawn to scale and thats 10 wraps of 27 ga wire around a 17 ga needle. Next time I get really bored, I'll draw the front elevation :)

Super_X, in your picture is that how the coil should be positioned if you looking down at it? I'm a little confused when you say the coil should be pointing up.

Yep, that's looking straight down on it. When you tip your mod to vape, and the mod is horizontal, you want your coil somewhere in the 10 o'clock - 2 o'clock position and the airhole will also be in that position or there is a problem.

:)

Thank you, sir! For some reason I was interpreting what you were saying as the coil should be parallel with the long side of the reo. All clear now.

By the way when I read your posts, in my mind I hear the voice of Samuel L. Jacskson... I kind of hope people read mine and hear the voice of Charlton Heston.

I had some kind of power failure on my Reo Grand last night. It was as if the battery was super low, my first thoughts were of one of the screws was loose that hold the resistor wire into the posts, not the case. Next was that pointed piece that the button pushes down to make contact with the battery, no problem there either although I did "service" it.
So next up was the positive post of the RM2's 510, I lightly polished it with Emory cloth, it it now working it's best ever. Visually I could not see any problem with the positive post but that seems to be where the HR was.

08-12-13 It happened again but this time I got it nailed, it was the part that the button pushes down to make contact with the battery and the nipple on the battery itself. The battery post has a pretty good sized "arc " spot on the positive end.
