Hello Everyone! I once had the first iteration of the RM. it came with a pre-built coil & wick. Tried it, but not for even a ml of juice. Don't remember why, but gifted it soon after. I've been increasingly frustrated with every form of juice holding/burning contraption as of late. I have many REO's, and use them daily. Just got the RM2. Did my first setup, ugly but it works. I'm sure i'll get better at it. i have read through the 1st 24 pages of this forum, and watched a couple of video's. But my question is this; Why torch the wire before building the coil? I did not this time, but don't know if it makes that much of a difference. I'm a clouds of vapor kind of person, so when the USPS figures out where my 100Ml of Havana Gold is, I surely be in heaven. Thanks for the tutorial Super_X!

I'm coming up on my 2 year! Couldn't have done it without my REO's!

Rod, first congrats on your two year milestone. That's awesome :)

I torch the Kanthal before I wrap my coils because I believe it makes it more pliable and because it burns off any machine oils or anything that may be on the wire. I'm not sure if it really does anything but it's just habit now :)

I only do it once and do not quench the wire anymore.

I also fire the coil on the mod a few times before wicking it.

super_X_drifter thank you for the wonderful tutoral. Up to now I've been using silica and always wanted to try cotton. I just purchased the KAYFUN light and am awaiting it's arrival and now I'm all set knowing how to coil it.

^ you're welcome brother. Here's a video of a SLIGHTLY more advanced build. It's only more advanced because the coil is smaller diameter. You can definitely do it - how do I know? Cause I can do it :)

Thank you I'll give it a look see. I'm no stranger to rebuilding I've been rebuilding T3's forever. This is just my first venture into a true RBA and I want to make sure I get it right the first time and save some fustration down the road.

Hey Danny, I'm from New Jersey...and I figured it out on the first build, lol! All jokes aside the RM2 is my first attempt ever at building a coil, and Super-X's tutorial video was all I needed. Hope you're loving your Reo experience, and what part of Jersey are you in??

Hey guys. Just remembered today I had an RM2 my sister bought for me a while ago (cause she knew I wanted a spare and she's pretty great like that). Went to go build a coil on it and noticed the posts on the 2nd one are much more uneven than on my 1st one. Uneven and one is even facing away a little, kinda like a quasi-lazy eye. Haven't actually used it since building on it is significantly less easy than building a coil on my trusty RM2 #1. What do you guys suggest I can do? I'm a novice at best when it comes to self-modding.
This is my 1st RM2 (shot from the back. 10 wraps of 28 gauge Kanthal @ 1.2 ohms)

Yeah luck of the draw. I have both kinds also, and bought all of mine in the last couple of months. When you make the coil make sure you're wrapping it so the leg of the coil for that post is on top. Which post is off and which way would it need to turn? Clockwise or counter clockwise? The higher post is the positive post.

Only if you let it dry out and take a dry hit. Yuck, plenty of squonking keeps this from happening. I get absent minded and dry hit too often so I use silica, ekowool or ceramic wicks. there are plenty here who love and swear by cotton either CVS rolled sterile cotton or Koh Gen Do cotton pads from Sephora

I was surprised to see that cotton is used for the wick, doesn’t it get burnt?

I've never burned a cotton wick. Yep, like filthy says, you gotta squonk every couple of hits. If you forget, the taste of dry cotton will remind you.

If you don't heed the reminder, you can burn the wick :)
