Wait... You drank Macallan on the rocks?" What demon possessed you to spoil such a nectar with ice?

You know.. there is more than one way to drink it. I drink it neat, with a tiny bit of water, or on the rocks. That night was an on the rocks kind of night.

One thing I will say about smoking and cancer. It will cut years off your life but it always cuts those years from the end of your life. There may come a day when you find yourself abandoned in a nursing home, wearing diapers, eating "adult baby food", and thinking to yourself "why oh why didn't I keep smoking so I could be dead already". :D

I'll wander the streets homeless and vaping before that happens.... But I will say, @ScottP , I had this EXACT mentality about smoking as a youth: "Who cares about 7 minutes per cigarette (or whatever number was the "correct" number at the time) it's at the END of my life, where everything was going to suck ANYWAY."

I could deal with cancer, I could deal with a heart attack, but I was headed for COPD at the ripe old age of 42, and THAT I could not deal with.

I've also found the older I get, the happier I become, and I expect that trend to continue because, why not? I don't plan on being a miserable elderly person (now) I plan to be active and have a great time, right up until (I hope) I am felled with a heart attack in my sleep (in my family, it's either that or Alzheimer's so I'll take the heart attack-- and the continued nicotine intake) thanks....

Yeah my post was in jest. I quit smoking at 40 (oddly and 100% coincidentally the same age my father was when he quit) and I didn't have any smoking related issues other than the morning "smoker's cough". In truth I quit more b/c of cost (both time and money). Between me and my wife we were spending more than $300/month on smoking. Then I did some time math and realized that I was stopping what I was doing to go smoke at least 70 hours per month (that is 7 min per cig * 20 cigs per day * 30 days) and spending my half of the aforementioned $300 just to kill myself. I thought that was stupid so I decided to switch to vaping. Now I DIY my juice and make my own coils and my cost is as close to 0 as possible and I don't have to interrupt my schedule to vape.

The wife keeps switching back and forth and is currently still smoking. Hopefully the winter is cold enough to get her to switch back to avoid having to go outside to smoke. It is funny though watching her get all bundled up to do it though. Meanwhile I happily sit in the warm house vaping away.

I have to admit, the whole middle of summer when my husband would go out in the 115 degree heat to smoke, I didn't feel sorry for him at all.... nor did I join him.

I have found though, that a certain amount of vaping outside is beneficial to my need for sunlight, we have that Arizona ironwork bars over all our windows and it's way easier than drapes, but MAN, it's ugly and it blocks all the natural light. Fortunately we have entered my "magic" season in Tucson, where I am joyous and happy and outside ALL through the fall, winter and spring.

I suppose our summers are just like your winters, LOL. And since I hate cold (I actually can DEAL with 115 degree temps as needed without too much trouble) I should be feeling grateful.

And I do, and I am, this morning, for SO MANY things. Getting my teef back may have something to do with it-- implants are the WORST as a process, but they really are like having teeth, at the end, honestly. I've been chomping on celery like Bugs Bunny chomped on carrots, LOL. And happy that vaping will keep my gum health BETTER, since after paying for all of it I do WANT these to work until I'm DEAD.

Fortunately, my Creator knows I was terrified of COPD, it's like drowning slowly over a decade, I could've dealt with any other diagnosis, but I really needed to stare COPD in the face for a while (LOL, 18 months, apparently) before finally giving in.... I'm glad it happened, and I'm glad that my spot of permanent damage (a tiny bit of lung scarring) doesn't slow me down! COPD is horrifying, if I could make one wish, it would probably be that anyone facing it/enduring it could switch to vaping, man. Or, just, you know, every smoker could, successfully. Or, you know, even just the Husband. I have a feeling he is going to HATE his Christmas present... sigh.

Oh we are in Houston so our summer gets over 100 as well (although rarely over 110) but we have HIGH humidity, being this close to the Gulf of Mexico, so you can't cool yourself very efficiently. So when it gets into the low 60's the wife (who is cold natured anyway) starts the bundling up. We usually only have just a few days per winter of actual freezing weather.

Well, I'm going to say wishes for the wife... I wish my husband would stop. It's been really interesting to not be the one that coughs, stinks, (though, I'll admit I don't really mind even the smell of stale cigs, my dad was a smoker til I was five, I think that's part of it, I find it a reassuring smell, actually) and jonses for a cigarette, it's kind of eye opening. He'd better try the mech mod I scored in the classies for him, it's GORGEOUS. (I considered all his skillsets, and decided that might be the thing that interests him most, that and some premium NETs and WTAs and stuff, but he's a tinkerer, as an engineer, so fingers crossed he doesn't HATE it, at least not after I talk him down, Christmas morning should be interesting, maybe he can open it B4 the kid comes over) but I SWEAR, after this, I give up. This is my last behavioral modification option left, so... LOL. Oh well, I love him anyway, and it would be so rude to be upset with him for engaging in a behavior I participated in for years, so it's all good, I just hate to see him coughing etc.

I've been to Houston in the summer, the mosquitos are the size of squirrels, LOL.

Heh, I've already drawn up plans and ideas to escape the home.

Fire alarms are your friends.

Alka Seltzer vomit (give to other inmate..er patient as a distraction)

Very nice to staff, escapes take time, helps if they trust you.

Collecting magnets. Need them to remove the little tracker thing that keeps door closed.

Watch for deaths. Deaths bring crowds. Crowds go out door, learn to mingle.

Will flirt with any woman who has an access key.

Fein comstapation, get laxative, save laxative, slip in nurses drink. Can't catch a runner if you've got the runs.

I've threatened to haunt my family if they put me in one. Will make their lives hell. I changed my kids diapers and damnit, they're going to change mine.

Have you tried a shock collar yet? :D I have been considering one for the wife. ;)

I've been to Houston in the summer, the mosquitos are the size of squirrels, LOL.

Soooo true. Although I went cycling off road once in a town north east of Houston and ran through some brush and stirred up a nest of mosquitoes that made the ones in Houston look tiny. They rose up from the brush like a swam of bees in some old cartoon and followed me sucking me dry. I raced to get away and by the time I got back to the road I literally felt light headed from blood loss. I have little doubt that if I had been much further from the road, I would have been found dead completely drained of blood. That was one of the scariest experiences of my life.

I had one girl at work try to tell me that vaping was worse than smoking while she was smoking an herbal cigarette. In her mind nicotine, not combustion, was the bringer of harm and nothing I said was going to change her mind. At a later time I asked her where she received the information that shaped her opinion, her answer was Facebook and Huffington Post. So I googled Huffington Post and vaping and they have also posted when the Cancer Research UK report came out and Dr Gottlieb’s announcements in July, she must have missed those ones. I’ve been at this over a year now, so I’ve learned to ignore naysayers.

I see a Nurse Practioner for my general physical health issues. She is a retired Lt. from U.S. Navy, an old-school hardcore battle axe trauma nurse that probably has seen more than enough spaghetti to last ten lifetimes. She never sugar coats anything yet will take time in being human about whatever is going on.

Her RNs that do the intake, get vittles and check up on the information accuracy, seem keen to try scaring me with what I know is fact.

"Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor. That means a higher risk of heart attack, stroke. Your blood vessels will shrink up for four hours after every use of nicotine. You need to quit vaping too."

Yes, it is indeed a true fact. I'm quite aware of it. I suffered a mild stroke once already. it was unrelated to vaping, it had been several years before I was introduced to vaping. I still smoked cigarettes and rubbed snuff, chawed 'baccy'. I had been running hamburger patties into the broiler at a fast food joint, you know, have it your way. I'd been doing this for around six hours straight non-stop. We had an accident on I 81 that day and everyone took a lunch break to wait out the cleanup.

Apparently, I fell and hit the floor. I was standing shoving burgers unto the chain belt, next I recall was sitting in our closet/break room with a cup in my hand.

"Pepsi with extra salt and double extra sugar, Ben. Sit still, I'm calling rescue, or you can go home. Cindy (not real name) our manager has been notified, she's coming in to take over. Again, you sit still, drink, rest take twenty minutes to decide", the general manager for that shift told me. "Me and Joey (not real name) got you up and over here."

"Hey, Joey! Thank ya", I said

":censored: wasn't anything. Scared me, thought you went after tomatoes or something."

Didn't realize it was a stroke until a couple years later a doctor had me visiting for an acid burn on my leg. My blood pressure was well over 200+ and climbing. His nurse had sprinted off to get me a blood pressure pill. He looked at my chart, looked at my BP numbers, leaned in and whispered in my ear.

"Keep it up, you'll have another stroke."

So, yes I'm keen on them telling me nicotine might contribute. Meaning yes, I know that thanks, please let me watch it for myself. I keep trying to reduce my nicotine intake but I feel stuck at 18mg per ml. Got good gear now and I ought to be capable to reduce. I'm just stuck. *sigh*

Fortunately I have crazy low blood pressure, man, and always have. When I was younger, I used to have to drink a cup of saltwater every morning to just feel, you know, fully materialized. My blood pressure was below normal at 3 packs a day. The nicotine I'm getting now is probably making it lower, compared to my 3 ppd, I should get it checked. It's weird, since my only two substances left are caffeine and nicotine, it should be through the roof and it's not.

Unfortunately, my lungs don't seem to be as hardy as my cardiovascular system, so I'm glad I started vaping.

Good luck reducing nic, but, either way I hope it's getting adequately treated and whatnot....

I have brain damage.
Is it odd that vaping caused me to sell most of what I have...and I ordered my dream vape.

Yep...Therion BF 75c.
I even paid for express shipping.

What really worries me is the wife holding a thermometer and eyeing me suspiciously.

It's not an oral thermometer....(help)

Thank you for starting this thread!

I would like to take this opportunity to voice my disgust with perfect strangers trying to tell me that vaping is WORSE than smoking...they obviously haven't done even the most basic research about it. & these idiots approach complete strangers (me & others) in public spaces to voice their uninformed opinions about vaping! I am getting tired, trying to correct the misinformation they are spreading. The few who actually seem interested jn learning about vaping, I try to direct here &/or to CASAA & other sites where they can get correct, accurate information.
