I just got my screwdriver from trog, this ends my quest for the perfect ecig.
I have bought the following
1. cheap chinese 102 or something, didn't work too good
2. smoking everywhere
3. nro njoy
4. Janty Kiss Box
5. 801
6. pilot and 402
7. 901
8. screwdriver.

The screwdriver is in a league of its own, the others are OK, but for serious e-smoking the screwdriver is the only way to go, Not very discrete, but at home or car or private office etc. It's simply amazing.
I realize it's just a 901 atomizer on a big battery, but it really is beautiful to hold. I keep a few 901 batts charged to be more portable, but the screw driver really is nice I highly suggest one.

I have been thinking about getting one as well. I have a RN4081, DSE901, DSE801, M401/402, 510, Mini-Pipe, Kissbox, Dura-C and more and I am still on the quest. How would you describe the vapor production and throat hit? Can you buy the batteries it uses at Radio shack, so you don't have to order online? I would love to know more about it.

The funny thing is the $150 price tag has been the main reason I never bought it, but I have spent soooo much more looking for the right e-cig!

Really happy you're digging the Screwdriver!

I built a mod that works relatively the same as the SD using 901 atomizers, and I freakin' love it. I have no doubt the SD surpasses mine by a long shot, though, and I'm still jealous. lol

Let us know how you like it over time, as well. The best part about the SD is that you're not going to deal with anything but atomizer degradation. Keep your batteries charged, keep the cartridge full, and you're set!

Why would you be jealous of the SD? Sure the machining and build quality is probably higher than your detonator but yours pumps out more voltage, probably hits harder and creates more vapor.

But it's prettier! lol

I'm still waiting on my deal extreme order to make it to me. I couldn't stand to go through anymore regular cr2 batteries. Those things are expensive!

Meanwhile, the Detonator is sitting idle...

Oh boy you hit the nail on the head!
I have spend well over 500 on stuff, although I like all of them, except smoking no where and cheapo china one, The screw driver has throat hit 10 and vapor 10. I would have saved a lot of oney buying it first, but on second thought maybe not, because I would want to try the other cigs, the only thing about the SD thats a little weird is, one its fat and a little strange to hold at first, two its a manual switch ala kissbox, but thats ok. It runs on cr123s recharagable or not, you can buy cr123s from any drug store, but they are rather expensive, thus the recharagable ones, on ebay you can get a 20 pack for 20.00 usd shipped. I always keep a bunch at home for my flashlights and now for the SD.

Why is the Screwdriver an improvement over a 901 with a USB passthrough, they both work on the same principle (ie. removing the poor 901 battery). I use a 901 with a passthrough and it works great, the 801 passthrough I have produces too much smoke (its like a smoke machine-embarrassing).

Can any one compare a 901 with USB passthrough and a screwdriver I would like to see that.

Where did you purchase from?

Anyone who has both the SD and the pipe(Classic Electronic Pipe - $89.95 : Electronic Cigarette Store), what do you think? I really like the style of the pipe, it fits me much more than the SD would, but I'm a bit apprehensive of purchasing it. However, I've only heard positive things of the SD, I'm still contemplating, any advice?

your're absolutely right the 901 with the pass through is the same thing, but with the sd you can vape all day and not be tethered to a cord. The 901 is the best atomizer out there, with the sd attachment it gives more freedom in portability and battery life. I must admit though I just got it today and only used it for one day my opinion may change over time.

I agree. I recently purchased the SD and I'm completely loving it. I've spent a nice hunk of change on various models (Npro and Kissbox) and battery options, however, I was never satisfied. There have been times when I reverted back to an analog now and then. Now, with the SD, I feel that I've found device that will work for me. I think my search is over . . . until the Janty Stick hits the market!

Does anyone have experience with taking a SD through airport security? I'm about to leave on my honeymoon through SE Asia and really want to take my SD. I'm a little apprehensive, however, about how airport security is going to react to the looks of the SD and whether I can sufficiently explain to them that it's not a detonator but a e-cig.

paulhampson,

Review of The Big Four

personally, i use a power pack and passthrough.
i haven't tried anything else that comes close.
affordable, dependable and easily replaced, imo.
some folks have reported dodgy passthroughs but i've been using mine since the beginning of the year with no problems. ymmv

Same here CandyGirl.........It's hard to justify $150 on a screwdriver(although I would like to have one eventually),when you can buy a passthrough for $20 shipped at some sites,or $10 when you buy in bulk from Bestcigs.I've been using the same passthrough for a month and a half with no problems...love it! When the SD goes down to $99 US...if it ever does I might get mine, until then the passthrough will do for me!:)The Wiz!

I am all for people doing what they like and what works for them, but I, personally, would never pass up a simple, compact design like SD or a magnum for a passthru and a power pack.

It's pricey, for sure. I would be paying for the look and for the ease of use. The more components you add to the mix, the more chance for failure, in my book.
