The more I think about it, the more I think it might also work if you drilled a hole through the base of the atomizer chamber that runs from the outside edge all the way through to the wick hole. It would mean you didn't even need a hole in the top cap anymore, but might bring leaking issues I guess.

A7 - ScubaQu Style.

Airflow through the center improves vape with SS mesh on the inside of the glass tube. While the mesh wick is not optimized for the setup, it produces good vapor.

The issue with ScubaQu is not completely airflow. The vaporization process of juice on glass is just not the same as coil on mesh wick. The vapor mist is much finer. With standard gennys, the vapor is very full, with large particles popping off the coil. This is more like a steady stream sizzle. While it tastes good, its just different and a bit lighter.
