Dan's original "The Pyrex SS hybrid Wick" thread...no more posts. Although, at this point I can't see it making much difference
BJ's "New: Dan's scubaqu only" thread...results only on Dan's original design.
This thread...discussion of ideas, works in progress, and improvements to Dan's original concept.
"Freeforall rba coil setup brainstorming & testing" thread...whatever comes into your head as to alternative methods for getting the wick to spew tons of delectable vapor with a minimum of hassle and reduce/eliminate shorting issues.

Ok, I'll kick this off then (I think). Anyone have feedback from the fused quartz samples I sent out? I have received some feedback, one not so good (smashed) and the rest have been ok. Very few so far though.
I just have to say that I tried my best without breaking the bank. Some of those letters are going a long way. Hope they make it ok. I hope to have some time in the next day or so to play.

The fact that 'any glass cut by hand and not annealed will have stress fractures' seems to escape the newer threads and coops popping up. Just thought I'd mention it purely for fact gathering. Nice summary of links and setup in the first posts Bapgood!
JPoodles, can the layman properly anneal a short glass tube using just a torch?

DizGrizz - I don't think the common layman can properly anneal the glass, but check out the links I just added.
Thanx BapGood...and nope DizGrizz..we can't anneal with torch. Some of the coops are getting precut, polished, and annealed tube pieces right from the supplier. Here's one...and they might get some tank glass too.

These glass wicks could be the next breakthrough. Any other really revolutionary changes happening to the genesis?
Has anybody tried a system with airflow coming up from the bottom of the quartz tube and flowing through the tube and wick?
That would help with airflow a lot, but that is where the wick gets it's liquid.
Yeah you'd need some way to pipe air into the wick without affecting the juice flow, it seems like it would fix a lot of the vapour production issues though.
I have one in process with an A7.
I can get it to vape, but its not quite there yet. It really is not the ideal atty for the set-up, the posts are very low and the center airhole is thick. Using a 18g needle and some silver NR wire to do some workarounds. Will post up some pics when ready.
I was thinking if you left a hole or notch in the bottom of the glass tube inside the top chamber, then directed airflow into it, you might be able to get the airflow running up through the wick without messing with the juice flow.
If the airflow was piped in through a needle or similar it'd also probably stop the juice leaking out of the air intake hole in the glass.

Good idea, but if you are thinking about doing this in an standard genny, how would you screw-in the top cap with the needle inside the mesh or tube?
I think the best way to do it would be to fix the air intake horizontally to the base of the atomizer chamber, running from the bottom of the coil area to just short of the inside of the top cap plus air hole. Then it'd be out of the way for setup/installation, and you could just drop the notched glass into place.

The more I think about it, the more I think it might also work if you drilled a hole through the base of the atomizer chamber that runs from the outside edge all the way through to the wick hole. It would mean you didn't even need a hole in the top cap anymore, but might bring leaking issues I guess.
