Somebody here suggested that a ways back so I've been doing it that way too. Thanks you who ever you are.
It might've been me. I always wrap lefthanded except where it won't work out. And on this atty, it didn't work out
Went righthanded, and perfect.i just did a different build. i changed the O-ring to a Griffin's one, did a 3mm coil(previous coil 2.5mm), n stuffed in more wick.
i then closed the JFC tight, fill her up, turn her upside down before opening the JFC. it doesn't leak at all this time.
i'll update u all when i refilled again. i'll try filling the serpent up with water minus all the wick n coil to see water will seeped thru the chimney on my next rebuild. cheers!
One of my serpent has a little rough threading. One time when filling, I thought it was all the way closed when it wasn't. Had a little leaking. Not sure if you are experiencing the same thing or not. I also turn mine upside down before opening.

If I was going to make a design change on the Serpent, I would probably have a little taller "lip" on the center air hole on the deck. If you have a lot of cotton and are doing the "S" method of wicking, the edges can touch or slightly overlap that lip as it is now. I occasionally get a weeping of juice through the outside AFC channels. I believe it is due to excess juice in the wick that is going over the edge of the center air hole edge. I try and make sure the wick is not up against it, but by the time you screw the chamber on, who knows how the wick ends up settling. This only happens when my wick is close to ready to change out. Not sure why it sometimes does it at that stage in the life of the wick. Probably due to the wick not being as absorbent at the end of it's little life. Since I vape NET juices, I dry burn and change wick ever other day.
I've actually had better results in my serpents using the less is more technique with wicking. Bear in mind this is with cotton ( I have no experience with rayon). I trim my wicks even with the deck and so they will just touch the deck above the juice channel when wet. No wick in the channel whatsoever but an ample tuft just above it. This eliminates any disruption of the wick when the juice flow bell is manipulated. Keep in mind that this technique only works with the optional o ring on the deck. Without it you will experience leakage. I've been using this method on all my serpents with no issues. I change my wicks weekly. Hope this is helpful. Happy vaping[emoji106]

One change I'd like to see would be some knurling on the top ring (where the Serpent logo is). Really hard to get a grip on that narrow ring! Otherwise it's a great little tank with top fill, smooth airflow and easy to build. And for $29, how can you go wrong?
Petemoss, I totally agree. Both my SS and my Black version are my favorite tanks at this time. Love them. Really happy with what you get for this price. The quality and threads on mine are perfect. Truly the smoothest airflow (and quietest) of any of my tanks, with great adjustment down to MTL or open for DLH. Digging' da Serpent!
I just tried an o ring from my Trinity Copa drip tip. It measured 14mm OD I don't know the thickness. It fits perfect.They sure screwed up the black ones. I'll have to try a faster refill.
I'll also see if I have an oring that will fit.
perhaps mine too has rough treading. guess i'll know when its time to rebuild. i'll closed the JFC n fill water in it to see if it leaks.
OK, been using mine exclusively for over a week now, and I'm loving it! No leaks except for the occasional weeping from the AFC, but I've had that with other RTAs so it's not that big a deal. This thing LOVES it some juice tho (good thing I DIY ). Got a twisted 28gauge kanthal build wrapped 7 turns around a 7/64ths drill bit, wicked with rayon.

I, too, am a DIY juicer. And extract my own NETs... The savings is incredible! And being able to concoct custom juices is just a pleasure.
Number one thing that eliminated leaking/flooding after filling for me was to just stop bothering with the JC at all. I just leave it wide open, no o-ring, no problem.
I've never considered that. I might just give it a try.

somehow the water managed to seep pass the JFC even with an O-ring attached.
i've tried 13mm ID, n 8-9mm ID O-rings.
however, with the coil n wick installed, i encounter no leaking.
i even took the top-cap off n let it sit for 3mins, still no leak.

Maybe, could be how I wick it too, might vary from how you have it (although the way you described your wicking sounds pretty similar to mine). I dunno, seems to be working fine for me on both of my serpents. I'll post a pic of my wicking, its nothing fancy, just a bunch of cotton thinned and fluffed basically.
