I apologize for this rant. I've noticed that #1: most people that work in vape shops are men where I live. But, thats beside the point.

I don't go to may vape shops often due to the prices. But today I went to a shop just cause I had time to kill. So I walked in and asked

"Where are the rebuildable tanks?"
"Okay who is this for? Your husband, bf, brother?"
"No its for me"
"Really?" Like he was shocked that I was able to wrap a wire around a little screw driver 5 times. Not only that he showed me RBAs, which is not what I was looking for.

I didn't find what I liked so I bought two batteries. It's sad because this isn't the first time that I was given a dumb remark.

Ladies, do you deal with this also?

Sad to say, a lot of the younger clouds bros believe it is a boys and their toys world when it comes to vaping and/or working in the vaping industry. Truth be told I've seen to many times a female build a prettier and more meticulously made coil than myself, not to mention I've laughed at the youngsters when said female tired of the youngsters' taunts out blows a cloud compared to the youngsters and send the youngsters packing, tails between their legs. I treat all customers equally until I get to know them, lobbing loaded questions at them to get a feel for where their level of knowledge is on top of a glance at their gear in hand. My advice take it with a grain of salt and let your wallet do the talking, bad customer service, take your business to a competitor that actual wishes to earn your business.

The guys at my local are in awe of me. I walk in looking all 40-ish and tame and when I whip out my copper or brass cc mechs with dual twisted coils they look at me like I'm some rare species of something they've never seen before! Tickles my funny bone to no end.

Good on anyone that builds their own. It's a more rewarding vape, and it's not exactly rocket science.

But the reality is, that rebuilding is infinitely more popular with the male gender. You only have to read through the rebuildable atomizer section of this forum briefly to see that. While perhaps it wasn't appropriate, I doubt you were surprised by the clerks reaction, and more likely were expecting it. And without it, we wouldn't have this thread to enjoy.

Only ever been into one vape shop - and you could hear the sound of chins hitting the bar when their mouths dropped open to see a couple of late middle-agers walking in. Turned into a good experience though.

Sounds like the guy was just a jerk sexist, regardless of vaping or not.

I, a humble woman, have been complimented on my builds at shops that I have gone to. I am just a plain-old tootle puffer who makes her own juice (3yrs now) and build my own coils. This coil came in at 1.4Ω's and I crank up the power to a blistering 4.7V/ 18watts!! Hehe. If you can find shops that will help, and know what they are doing that

Around here, females build their own coils, we respect them always, treat them as equal and all enjoy a get together once in a while. We have some females coming in our local shop wanted to know how, easy, we teach them, before you know it, they're better than us already, lol.

Forum wise, you must not be hanging where I have. Seems we have plenty of women on ECF that enjoy building.................and I think it is great.

Sounds like you got an under exposed employee, some jock that figured out how to wrap wire, lol.

I'm 62, male, and avoid local vape shops for the same reason - blind ignorance. :glare:

There's always been women working at my preferred local shop. They can be just as knowledgeable or more so than any guy I find. Mind you, I also don't give a .... about what gender you are. I only care about customer service and sound advice from my shop. Treat me right and I don't care if you have 6 [removed] growing out of your shoulders.
