The only time I experienced a negative feedback for being a female vapor because of me being a woman is from another fellow female vapor. There was a woman who came into the same shop I was, and told me that I was a disgrace because I was "just there trying to attract guys by vaping big clouds". I was sitting on the couch ON MY PHONE. The guy who owned the place has been my friend since I was 9! I wasn't there, chest out over the display case, giggling through vape-talk. I was there supporting a friend (and bringing him his phone because he leaves it everywhere he goes).

Women build, my wife actually builds a prettier coil than I do, she just chooses not to. I clean, refill, recoil and rewick and buy all of her gear.

Of the 15 or so men at work who vape, I know of only one who rebuilds and does DIY. I got him started on that. The rest of them want to just screw in a coil head, squirt some juice into it and vape on. In the vape stores however it's a different story. They all have their giant box mods topped with big clapton coiled drippers set up for giant lung hits and huge clouds. Not a scene I fit into anyway so I'm quite happy to leave them to it and vape elsewhere.

People are used to seeing what they normally see. I'm not a big vape shop guy, but at the half-dozen shops I've visited (infrequently - like maybe three total visits a year) the only females I've seen were in the company of their SO, and if they were vaping, it was something along the lines of an Ego and a CE4.
If I were to draw conclusions based on those observations, I would form an incorrect theory.

I did a lot of building, don't much now as I can get what I need from many of the new tanks out there. But I am the hobbyist in my house. I was taught about vaping from a pretty equal crew of men and women. Most of these folks though are about harm reduction. Go into cloud type stuff and I see more dudes... Sounds like a bad shop.
I work in IT so I am used to being the token woman in a group I might be jaded.
Think there are a lot of women here on the ECF too.

I'm quite happy building my own coils. I don't do anything terribly fancy - it's more of an economic and quality thing for me.
I have a B&M just around the corner from where I live. Just don't have much desire to hang out there. Used to buy all my juice from there, but once I started DIY, I don't have much reason to go, which is somewhat sad - I should be supportive, but they don't carry much of anything I want/need. Their prices are crazy (I know, I know - they have overhead they have to account for), but it's not often they have the level of gear I'm seeking.
I've asked about help with coil builds in the past, and there usually isn't anyone there (staff-wise) who can assist. I've learned more here on the forums (and get faster/more-reliable answers)

I would have had them show me every tank I wanted to see and when I found the one I wanted, I'd tell them, "thanks, I found what I was looking for...and if you had been less rude when I walked in, I wouldn't have to go home and order one online. KTHXBYE"
