You may be on to something... I'm at a total loss for getting this to work.

I made 3 of the putty plugs, one with 15 star, 20 star, and r2 square plug. None of them leak, but none of them wick either. It's the same dry burn I got with the zfm.... I cannot fathom what I'm doing wrong. They are 3/16 wide, have vent holes, etc. It drives me mad, I tells ya! ;)

I have found that as long as the center hole isnt bigger than the bridge and has an air vent, it wont leak. I think the air vent made with a paper clip is acting like a dripper when being vaped on. The center hole just acts to cause a vacuum. My paper clip hole is about the size of the hole in my ejuice bottles where the liquid drops from. Just MO.

Thats it Slyice, ya gotta grab what ya got...and if ya aint got it...grab somebody else's...right. I wasn't even looking for that tubing and I was in the hobby shop buying some nichrome wire that is used for foam cutting and it was right there...so I grabbed it thinking I could use it to fill carts. I still don't know what its used for, covering wire I guess. But like I mentioned earlier, with the screen you can take the bottom cavity and open it up almost to the inside of the screen, and up at least halfway to the top so more juice will go in. The screen holds the shape really well if you get the putty worked into it. I can barely see the screen except for the edges, which is good that its coated anyway. I have some dopping wax I am going to mold for the bottom instead of the bullet...I don't have any dowel rod..Ha.

Let us know how it works for ya.

Hey Seabury, did you verify that your air vent is in fact letting air thru? I know sometimes it may help to back the cart out of the atty slightly. Sometimes when running low I need to pulse toke on it too to get it going. Also make sure you have a little juice coming out of the hole to start the wicking action. If it starts to flood push the cart back in. I have read here on other threads about the alignment of the cart to the bridge too, some say it doesn't matter but I alway line the widest length of cart to the widest length of the bridge...not the ceramic cup. The other way always melts the cart because the bridge contacts it down by the coil. IMO anyway.
Are you using a 510, cause I am not familiar with any others...but the principal should be the same.

Thank you for the help, NIC!

I did do these things, and yes I'm using 510s. I'm using regular 510 batts and also a protege. Same experience on both... Sometimes it's a dry hit (burns) and sometimes it's a no-hit from flooding. I've tried backing out to vent.

Yes, I've also set the cart both ways... never had a melted cart, I must say, but man is this a pain. I've also used fluval, blue foam, zfm and now the amazing mold putty... I just can't seem to find anything that lasts. I'm using various juices from nhaler, both regular and hv. (sometimes mixed, sometimes not).

First I was thinking it was the atty, but this issue has followed me through all attys... then I thought it was the juice (perhaps a bad batch), but none of these potential problems panned out.

I have single days where it works great, and then a week of no satisfaction at all... I'm at a point where I'm thinking it really SHOULDN'T be this difficult, you know?

onward I go...

Ok.. makes sense. I also noticed this one i used is the one i cut to make it thinner. The inside is ruff and flakey looking and not smooth like the outside. Might have something to do with it.

But i did do the 20 min cure time or more and put it in a coffee mug with boiling hot water for 5-7 mins to help the curing.

I guess allow for longer cure time. I just hope its nothing to do with cutting it.. as over time i'm sure this thing will rip or tear from removing it so much.
Eclipse, you could always make the mold smaller and skip the trimming afterwards.

Just an update. The one that I made with the "tube" is the one that is working best for me. I'm afraid to make another one :) . I will probably make some more tonight when I have some spare time. I did notice I might have to tap it down sometimes if it starts trying to dry out, but having the juice touch the wick when it goes in for the first time seems to be important. If I remove the cart, I always tap it down to make sure the liquid gets to the atty bridge. Thicker juices seem to dry out more than medium/thin juices on this one, but overall, this is the mod I've been using for days and it works well.

BTW .. I still am using the one that only has about 1mm of space between the juice and the atty bridge where the hole is. That seems to really make a difference for me. I used that wooden dowel to make the indent which seems to help get the juice closer with no air pockets.

Hey it was your idea Ego! LOL

I am making a new jig so I will do a step by step slide show and post it. The teflon tubing is in fact .041 OD and I got it at Hobby Works beside the electric foam cutting nichrome wire replacements. Like I said I am not sure what it is for...I assume its for sliding over wire. You can probably use something any size close but you have to pinch it off so only a hair will go through...has to be a very tiny hole. Someone mentioned using wire coating but that stuff puts out some nasty stuff when heated.
Let me get this done and I will try to post it later...HOPE??

Sorry for being so lazy .. here are some pictures (in no particular order)

- Screens I'm using as stabilizer for the puddy is silver pipe cleaners, cut to shape inside the cart top
- The final product with tube in it
- The dowel I sanded down with paper clip to keep it from going all the way down to the bottom (leaves about 1mm of puddy)
- Wire (stripped) ... used stripped outer coating as the "tube"
- Inside view (from bottom) so you can see the indent where juice will go
- Hole punch used 1/8" or 4th from smallest
- Mod inside cart itself

Note: Can't fit all into single upload, so there will be a second post

I'd love to do a video, but it's the whole lazy thing. nicotime's pictures are pretty much the same result, but using different tools.

And yes, I do plan on getting some of the tube stuff nicotime talks about as soon as I can find it. This is all I had laying around at the time.

Why is there a hole in the side of your cart? lol ....this mod is getting into some craziness! I have braided ground wire! Thats what ur using, going to try something, give me a few days! It is a whole different mod, if it works, u'll all want one!

has anyone besides me noticed that you can taste the rubber plug semi-often when vaping?

my 510 carts dont have the little shelf thing for my plugs to rest on so i slice off a thin piece and use a notched piece of straw to support it. iv tried playing with the height of the plug and trying to get it to where the atomizer just barely rests on the hole. i have noticed though that the more it touches the plug the more i can taste it, so much that i dont even taste the flavor of my liquid anymore. but the further away from my atty, the more it will flood it..

also... for those who "bake" their putty, what temp do you bake it at and for how long? cause i have 1 plug that i made 2 days ago and it hasnt cured for some reason... *shrug*

Bake them at 300 degrees for 5 minutes. You taste it because it isnt fully cured.
