Strange. I just made another one. The main hole was quite small at the cart end, maybe 1mm. I have a venting hole made with a paper clip and it's still leaking on me. Wouldn't even think it possible with holes that small. The plug sits about 2-3 mm beneath the top edge so I don't think the atty is deforming the plug. I'm going to try to make one with 3 paper clip sized holes in the center. Why? I have no freakin' idea why. It's called experimentation I guess. :p

Don't feel bad Pete54, I never could can that @#%$ Z.F.M. working. I'm surprised I made it this far with this one. It is pretty nice once you get it working though. I think I've tried EVERY mod on this site including your dart one (which I liked and was the one I was using before this one). If this one keeps working, it will probably be my mod of choice since I'm assuming it's going to last a very long time.

I think the key is going to be repeatability. If we find one that works well, can it be duplicated. Also, you run into the problem of different thickness of juices.

Boy I hope that Tesla cart from Janty actually works!!!!

also there is the problum that all the attys are difrent some have a rounded out bridge, some have a slightly pointed bridge, some offset to the left, some offset to the right..

IMO.. the only way I can see it being more consistant would be to have a atty with a pointed longer bridge that could go right threw the plug into the resivor.. then thickness in juice would not be a issue.. right now we are waiting for the juice to come out the hole and kinda drip on the bridge.. however weather or not its going to come out that hole depends on how much vacume is in the cart.. hopefully it will not be long before Joye or another company figures it out..

You are absolutely correct Scottyballs, which is why I like the blue foam. It forms itself to the bridge. I'm currently trying to combine this mod with foam. I've made a plug of silicone with a 2 holes that are large enough that, alone, they would flood the atty. I've cut it thin so that as it rests on the shelf inside the 510 atty, it leaves enough room on top for a small piece of blue foam. This set up mimics the blue foam straw mod with no straw. I'll play with this set up for a few days and see how it works. I'm really not sure why I'm even doing this because my BFD mod works fine for me. I think I may be losing my mind. 8-o

Cut the plug thin enough(1/16th), use a straw to raise it so it is flush to the end of the cart and the top off the bridge sticks through just enough for me. Instead of the star or square holes I used the X from ZFM with a tiny breather hole. I have had zero leakage and no flooded attys in 2 days(6 filled carts) so far. I have tested a few different attys because they vary so much. I think the extra material from the X really helps to seal up the hole, no matter what size.

I laughed so hard at this! Post a pic of one that leaked Pete, I will compare it with what I have working. If you cant get it, I will gladly ship you one for free to see if it works by my customs. PM me ur addy if you want one. I have to send out a few tomorrow by request.

P.S. - A lot of people are offering me $20 to make them 5-10 of them. I didint really do this to make money, just to help the vaping community. I own a roofing company and do this as a hobby, don't need to make extra money. Others who have the putty might be intrested in making them for money. I dont mean to be rude, its just I get a lot of PM's for this and would like to address it here.

I appreciate the offer but that would take all the fun (aggravation) out of trying to make it work. Actually, each persons set up, juice and vaping technique is so different that one size couldn't possibly fit all.
I'll get it to work, or die in the process of trying. ;)

Here is a link to pics of the ones I have made with the putty, the one with the reed valve flap was the one I mentioned I did with silicone gel. I used aluminum mesh for a shell with the putty embedded into it. I heated a BB and sunk it halfway into the plastic plate of the jig and hot glued the cart ends to the plate. Leave a small gap under it so the putty can squeeze out to release any air trapped...like a sprue. After I pressed in the bullet shaped piece to form the bottom indent, I took the chamfered .140" antenna tube and centered it on top of the BB and cored it out to make the opening hole. The Teflon air tube is only .050" O.D. that I got at the hobby shop. The plug with the tube is the one made with the mold shown on that page, the others are previous versions.
I did end up hollowing the bottom of the plug out for more fluid space. The mesh shell holds it rigid so not much putty is needed.

I am satisfied with these for now...but I am going to start a build without carts and homemade atty, something like Carlos JB. Carts are a PITA whatever mod you have IMHO.

Have a look here if you want...sorry I haven't got the posting pics on here down yet...too constraining.

Wow! I'm all over this, Genius! I am going to post those pics in here. Be prepared to get slammed with PM's! You made my plug look like an atari vrs ps3. Great job!

Nicotime,

Have you tried the one with the Teflon vent tube yet? I didn't have any luck with that concept, but my tube diameter was larger than yours.

Yep...in my mouth as we speak. I think the tube going to the bottom of the cart has something to do with it too, along with the fact the hole is only like .015-.020"
I made sure there was fluid in the tube to see if it was in fact venting and it does.
Like anything else though...you need to tweak it to the variables like fluid viscosity and what not.

Thanks for your input on some of these mods also...

Good deal! I had mine to the bottom of the reservoir also.. but the hole diameter was/is .034". It didn't flood the atty, but if I laid the PV down it could unload the reservoir through the tube. Didn't spend much time working with that one....
