Right. You don't HAVE to be crazy to do this, but it does help. :thumb:

Yes, Yes!!
There were 2 conversations here man. Nobody knew it but me. I had PM'd you about the things you told in the paragraph that told me what I needed to know. You answered them in one fell swoop and didn't know it. You hadn't seen the PM's. This was an attempt to see if there was anyone else but you that could go here. I found there isn't. Others are asking the same type stuff I am that are looking at what I am. I knew it would cause a rucus to post it to start with but that if there were people interested they'd show up after things calmed down. I am nuts but there is more method to my madness than this appears.

People are interested in it. Folks are afraid to ask. Some aren't. Easier to play crazy than stupid. Doesn't take any effort. Unorthodox yes. Look at posts in this post and it makes my point. I've seen others get what I got when this started. Some people can't tolerate that and just don't ask. My hides pretty thick. Lots of ideas about how to do juice. For lack of a better way of putting it "How does the buddha do his juice?". No religious disrespect intended. You told it.
Irregardless people are interested. Been easier to ask? You either didn't have time to mess with the PM or I was being ignorant and you weren't going to mess with me. Let's see if anybody besides Hoosier can go here or is he the only one. Apparently. No one else that's willing to do it, apparently.
Now when I need an answer I can't find I know for a fact where to go and not waste my time anywhere else. You. There are not going to be many I suspect I can't find. There are some very intelligent folks that posted on this. That are thinking the same thing. They and others were interested in some of those links. Some others are going to be capable of now going to those and looking at them and coming to realizations or learning and don't have to do alot of digging. They don't know what entropy is. Some links of that type might be a good thing to make sticky? Not this post by any means. Just be a good thing to have for reference purposes maybe. Just a "If you want to know" type thing. Lot's of people don't want to know all that but there are others that do.
Yes it's a toss up who is the craziest. I might have you.

OK folks, now you know I'm the only one on here crazy enough to make you realize that you're not crazy.

...

I sometimes wonder if I'm Crazy that I think it is Not Crazy that you are Not Crazy Enough to say that psycheval Isn't Crazy.

Or is that Just Crazy?

I don't know of the PM you type about. Then again, yet again, I have days I have trouble keeping my PM box from overflowing....so I get those helpful suggestions to become a supporting member and increase my inbox capacity quite often....woot!

That's why I didn't bring it up. I wasn't going to keep at you. That's why the need to see about anyone else. You ought to stay covered up. I hadn't found anyone as yet and had to make sure they weren't very adept at hiding because they don't want to get what you get in the PM dept. Ever read Sun Tzu?
There were some of these folks almost gave the jig up and were probably wondering just how off my rocker I am. zoiDman and dannyv45. I had to quit talking to ya'll. We go look at the same stuff too much.

Let's see if we can wake Hoosier up. This can make your head hurt but herein lie some answers to some fairly hotly contested debates. Now these are just the things I have found and I am hopefully only using the principles in each correctly that apply to what we are doing with juice to come to my conclusion. You make your own. It looks fairly plain cut to me. I see why some people refuse to debate it. I do also after studying on this for a few days. This is very plain.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy_(arrow_of_time)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-theorem

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loschmidt's_paradox

What I get out of this is you put different stuff in a bottle and can either let it set and time will in our application steep it. But eventually everything in there is going to mix. To increase it's ability to do that you do something to it. Add heat, stir, shake, or agitate in any way. You put it in motion. Once you do that it can't be undone. That means the molecules mixed. To increase the rate at which the molecules mix over time you have to increase the agitation. Means to me you heat it up and shake the crap out of it and it's going to mix quicker. The longer you do both the faster that happens.

Again I put this out there for the info I'm not going to debate it. It's plain.

Why don't you email a couple suppliers and ask what they suggest.

Cause we got Hoosier.
I don't expect anyone in the business of doing this to make money to tell me a thing. I wouldn't was I them. He got the PM's after I resent. Just a little hitch of some sort gettting the originals. He really did answer what I wanted in that one paragraph. Never expected that without directly asking the questions but he did it. Only reason I came out here on the Ole' Chopping Block with it was because I couldn't get a response to start with. Wasn't his fault, PM's just didn't go.

This is how I look at knowledge in general.
My in-laws decided after I had been vaping about 3 mths that the “stuff” in eliquid was worse than smoking from something they found on the net.
Uh-huh. Now. How fast do you think I squashed that? They had found diacetyl.
There are Spheres of Influence. There is the one here at ECF. The only people that get the benefit of the knowledge here are the people that come here. There's still billions out there that don't. They are not under ECF's SoI. Each person that does use ECF has a SoI locally. Friends, Family, Coworkers, etc. In the local sphere your knowledge and that of those in that sphere is going to have a Direct impact on other local SoI that are not ecig related.
The amount of knowledge in each SoI is going to influence more people. It is also going to help determine what happens when people in our Gvt., that like to decide for you what is good and bad for you, decide it's time to fix it where you can't make juice at home. Because you don't have enough knowledge to do it safely and properly.
If... you have people in your local SoI that possess the knowledge to go to others and say “Hey look at this. This is what is actually happening......” . That knowledge gets spread. Knowledge is power. Do not ever think it is not where our Gvt. Politics is concerned.
Big T is taking aim on this. They have money. Their SoI is in D.C. They have all the knowledge already.
We can't do anything but cultivate knowledge and spread it.
Maybe he's not completely insane then again.........

just when i thought this thread had nothing to offer me, along comes the seed steep method. and whats really great about this is that i did it without even realizing it. :D

i made a batch of tc1's Ecto-1 about a month or two ago. it took a long time to steep, about 5 weeks. but once it was done it finally tasted great. i made a new batch with a few drips left in the bottle and i'll be damned if it didnt steep quicker. its almost ready to vape and the steep time is a fractuion of what it was on the first mix. and this was only with the "essesnce" of Ecto-1 in the bottle. i can only imagine what a ml or two would do for the mix.

bravo

Well then we should cover the one technique that you haven't included. Seed Steeping.

Simply it is taking 1ml of a well steeped juice and making a batch with it in the bottle. Cap and shake.

I have one recipe that takes at least 2 weeks of steeping to taste great, at least 1 week to taste good, and tastes like nasty crap when first mixed. (I only have one recipe that tastes like nasty crap when freshly mixed and this is the one.) It has been part of my daily rotation for a few months, but I sometimes forget to make a batch far enough ahead, so when I read about seed steeping, I thought it was worth a shot. Did the seed steep (the steep part of the name makes it kinda' confusing as there is no real waiting time) and that recipe was good right off the bat.

Since this is the only recipe in my current rotation that needs steeping, it is the only one I have tried this on. When I do go and mix up some of those recipes that benefit from steeping, I'm going to try it again to see if shaves a week off of everything.

This has to have something to do with flavoring interactions as there is not enough time for entropy to occur.

And that is the reason that observation and trying new things is so dang important. We are dealing with full diffusion, flavoring interaction, flavoring and nicotine interaction, flavoring and PG/VG interaction. It seems reasonable that we can speed all these up with heat, but heat also can have an adverse impact on nicotine and flavoring. It seems reasonable that we can speed some of them up with agitation. It doesn't seem reasonable that speed steeping would have that much of an impact, but it works, so there is something else going on that I haven't been able to qualify.

And all this is ignoring what happens when we breathe juice...

I think I qualify as crazy enough to try this:laugh:

Hoosier; is it 1ml per anything?

If I'm making a new batch of the same exact recipe and have some already "steeped" and want to make a new 100ml batch is 1ml of the "steeped" stuff all I need to use?

Thanks,

Norman

Don't know Norman. I've only played with it at 1ml and making a 30ml batch on top of it.

The thread I learned of this from only said "some" if I remember right. My 1ml is estimated, not measured. I think I have a pretty good eye, but I know it isn't perfect.

So, why don't you tell me? Try 1ml of your steeped and make 100ml of your recipe on top of it and let me know. What's the worse that could happen?

Alright. This weekend I'll do it.

I think I'm going to try about 5ml "steeped" as my "seed" for a 100ml batch of a "Boba's" clone I like. I use 4oz brown amber bottles so I've got 118.294ml capacity to play with.

I'll report my findings next week but it seems like it can only help "accelerate" the process.

Thanks again,

Norman

There seems to be conflicting information on the subject of "seeding". The first post I read about it said use 10%. Later on the post read there was only residue left in the bottle. The poster later went on to say that the later took a little longer to work, but still cut steeping time down considerably. I guess there is no steadfast rule on this. Maybe people have been doing this and not realizing what they were doing or what to call it. Maybe there needs to be a thread or poll to see if others are doing this and what their experiences are with it. Just a suggestion.

I'm tempted to try 10ml (10%) as "seed" for my 100ml batch, and if it works it works and that's how I'll roll, but getting some sort of consensus as to what other d.i.y. folks are using as a "standard" is not a bad idea.

The juice I need to make this weekend is one of my favorites (all glories to "glassmanoak") from this thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/353176-my-bobas-clone-14.html

The only modifications I've made are cutting the "coconut" % in half and I add some vinegar but the odd thing is even though it's not exactly "Boba's Bounty" it does sort of change taste over time like "Boba's" so that will throw a bit more confusion into the "seeding" merits but at least I think I'll know the difference in how it tastes right after making and shaking since I've made so many batches without using the "seeding" process.

Thanks,

Norman
