What a shame Encee's piece of work was deleted. I rather enjoyed the satire. The nature of this forum seems to be, protective censorship to a fault. I'm not for or against ECTA, just a curious observer. :)

Regardless, there are so many 'in house' disagreements, how will anything be accomplished?

Side note: Homosapiens have been studied as they migrated north from Africa, as they approached Neanderthal territory, it was questioned why 'we' survived and the Neanderthals died out. Personally, I believe there was a small percentage of assimilation, but the researchers believe the answer comes down to our amazing ability to network.

What does this have to do with vaping? Well boys and girls, the survival of our species and anything to do with our species all comes down to our ability to share and communicate with others. Just as we did thousands of years ago, dealing with any shortage and as we are doing now....communicating and sharing. vaping will not disappear because some entity says, 'boo'! Have no fear. :)

Now back to the OP's original concern, is there something the vaping community can do to help the situation or person(s) who lost to customs? Shouldn't we be a little supportive?

I am curious why it would be destroyed and not sent back? Is anyone familiar with that policy, it just seems a little fishy. There are corrupt people in every industry, field, dept etc. I've recently heard of a customs officer getting nabbed for allowing 'certain' drivers in with things we cannot discuss. So sometimes, a conspiracy theory can be on the level. It would be interesting to know if a follow-up was done with more than one agent?

Well, I hope baccofarmacustoms.gov will be too consumed with fixing some of their recent screw-ups and back off of the small percentage of people, who are trying to make their lives better.

In the wee hours without coffee, this is all making sense in my head to say: if someone in the know is giving a heads up, i for one want to listen and want to know just how soon i should start to collect for the "winter"

I hear you on this. After reading a lot of the stuff the FDA wants to do and if successful, we know HC won't be far behind. It does have me being the ant planning for an early winter or a freak snow storm.. hehe

The only thing to fear is fear itself. Shooter, I couldn't agree with you more. The gov can do whatever the hell they like, but they sure as hell can't control what I choose to do in the privacy of my own home. They can make vaping harder, but they'll never make it impossible. By stocking up and preparing for something like this to happen, you're foreshadowing for something like this to happen! We have no need to fear for anything. If the gov tried to do anything ridiculous you can be damn sure that the only way they would overturn it is if people opposed it enough. Be vocal, be the change you wish to see, and don't be fearful! :)

recidivus The first part of your quote is exactly the same conversation i sat down and had a discussion with a vendor over (which stemmed from a article of Rachel's. I have the "raw" file of that interview still where me and the local vendor locked horns over this who topic, though i think he was anti ETCA while i was pro not sure......anyway here is my speculation with HC from going through years and years of reports with them.

HC is trying to trigger a ban on e-cigarettes, (with possibility--again my speculation) there will be a ruling that they would be illegal to own/operate. After visiting a Tobacco processing plant and learning the actual cost to make a carton lets say, then hearing in the revenue reports that HC is supported literally off the cost of sold cigarettes one can see why they are doing what they are. Nicaderm (lets say) is the price they are as they have entered contracts to pay HC the same as Tobacco Companies. I believe it was mid nineties when HC came out saying that cigarettes are so high as it was "smokers helping smokers" for the medical help needed and did not want to increase the tax of any single resident of Canada for this.

With E-cigarettes where is their assured revenue? for every ten dollars they get, they *maybe* inject fifty cents into a weak and feeble plus failing health care system (yes i am calling it as i see it).

So if E-cigarette users + vendors alike across Canada were to enter a agreement with HC stating: PV's would not start at a cost of $100.00 where HC would get a $40 cut. Juice would now be $20 and HC gets $9 cut, then you want to see how fast they turn around and proudly say that it is all legit and legal and no more harassment? This harassment on all levels as it is right now is there way of trying to jump start that agreement

Money talks, and because vaping is wiser in choices for doing VS cigarette's, and due to the fact of low cost vs greater quantity there is nothing in the way of large amounts of tax's or kick backs to the government., and this is where the headaches are happening

You know, it's not all about HC making a buck, it's also about Big Pharma. I haven't researched this much, but in a short time of course it pops us, ie:

The ... pharmaceutical industr[y] must be laughing all the way to the bank. There's nothing like sitting on the panel of the Agency that regulates your products or makes decisions about the regulation of the products of your chief competitors."

Taken from this article about smoking cessation products and the FDA:

The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary: Washington Ethics Group Calls for Investigation into Conflicts of Interest of Two FDA Tobacco Panelists, Citing Their Financial Ties to Big Pharma

Anyway off topic again, but it's important to realize what we're up against. I figure the pressure from Pharma is no different in Canada.

I did too. The topic however, was not one that could be carried around here without creating additional mayhem. It is not always fun keeping a clean house but we do have to try and be fair to all parties involved.

Understood and respected, but it was so funny and well done!
Oh the joy of parenting a forum, eh?! I don't envy the moderator positions, tough job, when these topics get hot. :)

I would love to see a section on people making DIY stuff other then Juice ....like cartos and how to rebuild and that kind of thing as it would be a great thing for all of us to know and share!.....I know how to take care of my self food water and shelter hunting, trapping, fishing and forageing .....why well I hope I never need the skills that I have but have them and can use them if I need them!
thats the same therory as DIY e-cig stuff for me ...if I can't go into town and buy juice or order it no problem I will make it ...but if my stardusts all crapp out on me and there are no replacments to be had for a while do to some HC crack down or what ever ...I would like to be able to look after it myself and keep my wife, parents and my self off the cigs!

I wonder if the vendor who lost the 6500.00 shipment had an import licence, a tax no. and a business licence? I have a friend who has all of those and has never had a bit of trouble getting his hardware trough customs.
ps, he also pays taxes on his profits .

You need an import license to buy product from overseas? Does that only come into effect if you are buying over a certain amount?

who the hell throws their hands up and says close up shop over a letter? health canada has no teeth, especially when you get the media involved and me saying on camera how ......ed they are and vaping is a godsend, i dare them to make this forensic, but that's what they wan't us to say it's a cigarette alternative like nicorette or what have you, so they can tax the hell out of it like everything else, they are looking for their "in"

not me, i started because cigarettes are killing me and im starting to notice it and im too young to die i don't want to quit i love smoking it was a great comfort blanket, one of the only REAL satisfactions there is( and beerski's). god i wish i was 20 again and didn't have responsiblities like wife, kids, dog, mortgage, 4k a month in bills etc ,to be 20 again!!!!!

also vaping is more satisfactory to me than smokes now, i had one last night and it tasted like :censored:, and to add to that my great friend of 10 years who gave it to me saw me coughing and sputtering on it and wanted some ecig info :) i am a great propaganda machine :)
