Nah, you're not the first... screwed up mine when I tried to use a hammer to break the locking glue; it bent then the threads got all chewed up. I cut another one out of steel last night and re-threaded both with 1/4-28 threads. Also had to make a replacement plastic insulator as I burned mine up with the torch when the hammer didn't work... lucky I work in a machine shop!

I'm beginning to think Sigelie is playing a joke here with my 19E switch. I have soaked it in Kwik Strip acetone, 91% Alcohol, Hoppes #9, torched the button, hammered it to death, slotted the magnet, compressed twist with and without a screw driver, rinsed, repeat, lathered and nada...nothing.

I guess I am just gonna have to live with a fully functional, no-miss fire, spark free, stock configured switch. I bet they arc welded it and are laughing over pork buns and Tsingtaos.

It's red Loctite. It's a b*tch. Supposedly a bit of torching it should loosen it up. I torched mine for a little, but got scared thinking the Delrin might melt (which supposedly is around 347 degrees F). I don't think I got it anywhere near that. I just didn't want to sacrifice it. Plus, once you get the switch that hot...then what? Not like you can pick it up and try unscrewing it. Not sure if red Loctite will "re-adhere" once it cools back down.

Yup, the delrin is the fear factor here when torching. I used a silicon oven mitt (good up to 500 degrees) to hold it during the torching and the twist. The grip wasn't great, but it still wouldn't budge. Not sure how hot it got, the delrin didnt melt, but I wouldnt want to touch it.

Anybody have an idea of how to torch, hammer and twist and soak at the same time???

What did the glue look like? Any pics?

At the time, it looked like the seventh circle of hell. Once it was free, pictures were the last thing on my mind so my apologies there.
It wasn't red loctite- in my switch it looked like some sort of epoxy.... Opaque would best describe it.

It appears some of the switch have different types of glue, my 19e had red loctite in it. I whacked it a couple of times following namvets advice and I was able to unscrew it, and then broke my firing pin yesterday...should have left the darn magnet alone as it was working fine but that itch to thread a brass screw was too great.

I have a 19 on the way from vaportek. Having read through this entire thread, I still have one question. Do I need to remove the magnet to do the wire fix? Trying to follow this without having one to look at yet makes it a bit confusing. Perhaps I'm over thinking it and it will make sense once it's delivered.

You do not need to remove the magnet for the wire fix. All ya need is to be able to unscrew the button.

Hey all, just wanted to give a shout out to all the modders in this thread. There are waaay too many people to name, but thanks to you all, I've just finished up my #19. It's like the little engine that should for mech mods.

19 in sg-1 hybrid mode with brush / shine finish. Damn if I'm not proud of this thing.

Does someone know what the threading is for the telescope tube?

I believe it's 21.5 x 1.0, at least that is what I made my brass hybrid adapters. Not sure if that is what they intended, I just measured the OD of the threads (which IIRC was just under 21.5mm) and then measured the pitch.

alright guys, ive been using my 19b for about a week and loved it so much until yesterday and now today. Bottom button started throwing off some nice sparks from it and shocking me. I wasnt going to mod it at all but this issue must be resolved. Any quick-ish fixes i can do at the shop at my work tonight to fix this? I dont even know what the cause could be but it definitely seems to be arcing between the side of the button and the housing.

i searched and found some mentions of this but no direct solutions that i could see. thanks for any help guys

I used the spring from my #20, fat side of the cone up, between the button & the locking ring. No more misfires or shocks.
