My father in law picked me up a 19e from 101vape for my birthday. It has a spring for the top contact and a magnet for the bottom. Lots of misfires. Looks like I have a little modding to do.

I've flipped through the thread a little and still have more reading to do. Here's a couple of questions.

The magnet is split in two. What do you guys think of grinding the access out and filling with silver solder.

As for the top, could I just remove the spring and put a brass machine screw in or should I just leave it.

If you're going to use an 18350, you'll need to put a screw in that top cap cause the battery to too short. If you're going to use a 18490 or 18650 you can just unscrew the spring and toss both the spring and the screw. The round piece left is the bottom of the copper pin, so it works just fine. You can also turn the delrin to adjust the height of the pin depending on your atomizer.

As for the button, well, it's a mess. I was going to mod the crap out of it like everyone else in the thread, but I realized it was just going to be a lot of hassle with that glue in there. Probably the best (read: easiest) thing is to grab an upgraded button with a brass contact, no magnet, and no glue.

Stainless version: Maintenance - FatDaddyVapes.com - Home of the best vaping equipment, eliquids, and supplies!!!
Brass version: Sigelei #19 Brass Bottom Button with No Magnet and No Glue

The few bucks will save you hair loss.

Once you get the button, you can just slip a drip tip o-ring on the pin to shorten the throw, and torch the spring a little to make it less stiff.

After doing all that, you're going to find yourself with a really solid, well built, very well performing mod. I've used mine exclusively since getting it, and it's rocking on an iGo-L.

I've been watching a lot of youtube videos of hybrid mods and most of them use a 20x1 treading I was just wondering has anyone measured the treading on the tube of the #19. I mean putting a z-atty on a $30 mod would be some what crazy but at least then you could just buy a higher end mod later and have a high end atty to sit on it from the get go.

Update after fixing up the coils a bit and vaping for about 30 mins I have to say best f*&k*&g vape of my life. I mean I've been using rebuildable drippers for a while now but this is my first with a genesis atty. I'm getting .6ohms with the twisted wrap. I need more genesis attys.

Looks good! Now, if you want an even BETTER vape - try the ceramic wicks (you can either buy them - FC2000 - or make your own). There are a couple of good threads on ceramics :

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/362182-next-big-thing-porous-ceramic-wicks.html

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/rebuildable-atomizer-systems/379380-fc-2000-porous-ceramic-wick.html

They are both pretty long, but if you skim through them, they have a lot of good information, and even very clear videos of how to make them yourself with nothing more than a Dremel tool, a little water, and a diamond cut-off wheel....or you can buy them form Discount Vapers, Kidney Puncher, or a couple of other sites if you want to give them a try. The best ones are the White Wicks, but right now, they are strictly DIY. All explained in the threads.

Once you try the ceramics - you will never go back to the Stainless Wicks.

Have fun

Okie-doke, got my parts from vaportekusa. Diggin' the no-magnet button! First thing I did was unscrew it and drop an o-ring in there to shorten the throw. Niiiiice.

How about the top caps? I can't get the philips-head screw to budge, but I haven't applied Maximum Torque! either.

Got a set of brass and a set of stainless tops and bottoms so's I can do the two-tone thing. :)

I hope having to produce these extra top caps and buttons helps Sigelei's R&D a little bit, as to what works and what we want from devices. I honestly can't complain at all about the 19's performance after getting an nzonic top cap (sucks they ripped off a design, but thats a personal matter) and the upgraded brass button. I've got a 1.4 ohm coil in an igo-l and the 19 is just kicking so much .....

If Sigelei learns from the 19 at all, I expect a lot more high quality devices from them.

All in, $45 mech (after upgrades) + $15 RBA = vaping bliss.

I also gave the spring on the top caps a quick torch. I just heated them until they turned red. It took a little bit of the stiffness out, but not as much as I would like. Is it safe to torch them again? I'm leery of making them brittle or too soft. Gotta have SOME resistance there, after all.

I think its fine to torch it again. Try using a vice grip to push the spring down while youre torching it. It will reduce the overall spring travel and reduce tension even more.

I don't have access to a vice but I might could do the same thing with some long-handled pliers.
