I met two vapers yesterday while volunteering at big rummage sale. One was using a spinner and the other had a little mech. Both had quit smoking by vaping. We compared gear and swapped vaping stories. The 900mAh Spinner looked like a good piece of gear with a Protank. It is pretty small and had several months of use on it. He paid $80 for it at a B&M. These guys were mostly interested in the Sigelei V5 menu and display.

Just goes to show you that creative and curious vapers trust Sigelei Zmax for quality vaping, reliability and value.

Sigelei Zmax V1 is discontinued as it was 510 only. Sigelei Zmax V2 is solid tube. V3 is telescopic tube. V5 is identical to V3 but adds these features for less than $10 more: cell phone charger, puff counter, a few additional display options and an additional line of information on the display when fired. V2 and V3 were upgraded late in 2013 to include the removable top cap and one-piece stainless steel 510/eGo threading introduced with V5.

The Sigelei Zmax V3 and V5 is one of the shortest 3-15W (3-6V) tube mod APVs available. Shorter than Vamo or SVD.

Sigelei approaches production versions of their Zmax series differently than most Chinese manufacturers. Sigelei Zmax V numbers mean a significantly different model and not an upgraded version of a previous model. If Sigelei sees a need to upgrade a model they will do it without changing the V number as we saw with V2 and V3.

Why is there no Sigelei Zmax V4? Four is an unlucky number in Asian cultures akin to the number thirteen in European cultures. In most Asian languages the word for the number four is the same as the word for death. So, they don't like to have version #4 and skip it. The same superstitious reasoning applies to the use of the number thirteen in the USA. Quite a few 13 and 13+ floor buildings in the USA don't have a thirteenth floor shown on the elevators.

What has happened? It seems like the entire vaping world has become focused on 15+ watts output power. I don't get it. I quit smoking with less than 6.5 watts. Provari is headed to 20+ watts. It isn't cool on ECF to do less than 20W.

What is happening?

Why the need for big vapor? Why isn't enough vapor to satiate an ex-smoker enough?

Whew! It took a while to catch up in this forum thread. I always wondered why there was no version 4 Sigelei Zmax.

I like the Sigelei Zmax, but I find myself going back to the Provari every time I use the Zmax for a while. It's the switch on the Zmax that's frustrating. A couple of months ago I sent my Provari back just before the 2nd year warranty ran out and they replaced the switch (and maybe the board) for free. The switch they installed has a nice positive tactile feel with a little more spring pressure and a noticeable breakover point on actuation and de-actuation.

There's a thread here somewhere that details disassembly and replacement of the switch, along with the Digikey part number. I've just been lazy and lax about ordering the part and changin it out. Doing that would make me use my Zmax more often.

Anyone have a link to the thread where the guy changed out his fire switch?

Well Yzer i never thought anyone would need an 8 foot tv screen either, or have to be connected to the internet 24/7 - i haven't bought into either of those either - i have a 39 inch tv and the only cell phone we have is my wife's pay-as-you-go for emergencies! Seems like pushing the boundaries is the way with everything and more power is better for some i guess but personally i think mech users and high power mods are a vaping sub culture and that by and large most vapers still use cigalikes. I don't use the watts setting but i vape mostly at 3.4 volts with stock coils so i know that's pretty low wattage. One of the things that i like about Zmax is that it goes down to 3 volts, while some others such as Innokin mods stop at 3.3 volts. I guess i'm at the other end of the spectrum. :)

DaveP, I did the original writeup on the switch replacement. I've researched and tried out a few different switches since then.

Here's the original writeup on how to remove the and replace the switch, although keep in mind the switch that's mentioned in that post is no longer what I would recommend since it's too easy to fire (too soft).

My recommended switch is mentioned in the following later links here and here. That second link includes detailed info on how to modify the switch so it sits correctly onto the circuit board.

Best of luck!

Anybody ever force a miss fire by chain vaping? I was having miss fires and it seemed to stop when I turned the PV to look at the screen. Then I wondered if I was hitting it to quickly for the next puff. Or did I overheat the switch after puffing repeatedly?

Well it is not chain vaping. It is getting worse. I hear and feel the click but no display or vape. Pressing harder works. How long before it doesn't work?

BTW with the new style button, I don't seem to be able to rotate it if that would do anything.

Hi all

First of all, I'm a proud owner of a Sigelei mini zMax (2014 version I think). Second, I want to apologize for not reading the entire 302 pages of this thread before asking for some help. Maybe this has been covered, maybe not. I did a ton of searches but without luck. :(

Anyway, my zMax is like two weeks old. Its been working perfectly and right now is my prefered daily mod (not that I have many more, but I like it over my itaste VV V3.0 any day). So today, while I was vaping as usual, I suddenly noticed that whenever I release the fire button, I feel something like a click or a shake. The most logical explanation is that it feels like the battery would move from one wall to the other. I shaked the mod a bit but couldn't reproduce the phenomena. However, every time I press the firebutton and then release it, the mini will shake internally. I tried adjusting the bottom spring but its pressing the battery just fine. I can't figure out what is happening... its like a double click... one comes from the button which is normal but the other comes from the inside... it really feels like the battery is moving when I release the button but it doesn't make any sense...

Edit: Actually, I removed now the battery and it doesn't do it. I stuck my finger inside the battery compartment and I an feel the plus pole move when I press the fire button... what can I do to fix it? Is this common? Has it happen to anybody else? I really don't want to send it back but I also don't like that odd feeling when vaping... the "shake" or "click" seems to wander through the mod into the tank and I can feel the shake at the drip tip when I vape...

Please can anybody give me a hint or clue on what I should do?

Thanks
Regards
Tony

If the Sigelei Zmax Mini is built the same way as the V3 and V5 then my guess is that the internals have broken loose from the inside of tube. The electronics are glued to the inside of the tube and should be solid with no movement of the positive battery contact or display.

I would return the Mini as defective product or take it apart and apply new adhesive between the tube and board assembly.

I have not seen this problem with my V3s and V5 but others have reported this glue breaking loose or being applied in insufficient quantity.

I jumped on the hurtling bandwagon and got a couple of the Nautilus Minis. Put them on last night and have been enjoying them very much! I wonder if Aspire will make a gunmetal finish version...
