Since this thread is about Smart Fixx I'll just post here instead of starting a new one. I have about 99% convinced myself to buy the Smart-Fixx cigar. I'm smoking a Ruyan Vegas(1st e-smoke) right now and I like the bigger size of it. I occasionally smoke cigars so the bigger size is no big deal for me. In fact I used to be a fairly regular cigar smoker so actually it feels good to have one back in my hand.

After reading thread after thread on here it seems to me that the minis seems to "peter out" faster. So am I safe on assuming that the bigger sizes have, on average, a longer battery and/or cartridge life than the mini's? I would be perfectly happy with a cigar and I'm pretty sure that my wife would be happy with a pen style eventually.

DuckTape- I had ordered the Penstyle SmartFixx on Saturday, and it's already here today- Their service is absolutely fantastic and fast. I've just started smoking hte Penstyle about an hour ago and all I have to say is Wow Wow Wow. What a pleasure compared to the Mini SmartFixx Cigarette. The drawing is much much easier, the smoke so far is much much thicker [but be aware that sometimes these thigns coem from the factory preloaded with smokin juice in the atomizer itself, which will produce a lot of vapor, so I'll have to wait a day or two before commenting on how well this still produces vapor- but so far, all I can say is Wow Wow Wow lol. I just emailed SmartFixx, who had said they were goign ot send out a new Mini Cigarette kit to replace the defunct one that I had just received last friday and was only able to 'smoke' for two days before hte atomizer died. And by 'smoke', I mean I only had about a / day where it worked ok [but didn't produce nearly the amount of vapor as this new Penstyle does], and then I had to really work the mini cigarette hard tryign to get any decent smoke- I was honestly gettign quite dizzy tryign to draw enough vapor out of the thing.

Now, to be fair, it may have just been that the atomizer was defunct right from the start, and perhaps a good atomizer would make a world of difference in the Mini Cigarette [which I'd actually prefer for takign otu in public- although I'm kind of really liking the Penstyle- it holds real well in the teeth with hte tip style which is like the tip you see on some cigars]

I wish I had a computer video camera to show the smoke coming off this Penstyle- it's very impressive so far- it seems at htis point to produce even more smoke that the videos I've seen on this site and youtube- honestly, but again, this may change with a bit of use- will have to wait to comment further on this.

Yes on battery and cartridge life. My pen style rocks as far as vapor, but my e-cigar feels better in my hand and I use it daily despite less vapor production. Course, it's a cheap, cheap DealExtreme product, and it's almost four months' old with the original atomizer, so I'm sure much better e-cigars are out there. I just haven't tried them yet. I'd love to try a Ruyan Vegas. Nice size and finish. But too expensive for my bank account.

As a former cigar smoker (me too), you'll like the feel of a quality e-cigar.

Thanks guys, especially you TropicalBob, you've been a great help. Now I guess the question I need to answer is do I want a penstyle or a cigar? I like the looks of the cigar but I can't say I dislike the the look of the pen style. I wonder if there's any performance difference between those two. You guys are starting to sell me on the pen style.

CashmeRe- I think you'll really liek hte penstyle from SmartFixx- I've given it puffs now [the equivelent of full real cigarettes, and ity's still producing very nice vapor- my Mini would have been just about drained down to nothign by now- battery wise and cartridge-wise. Plus, this penstyle draws a lot easier- it's liek night and day between the two styles. So far I'm really liking this penstyle- the only provblem is that the charger shipped with a european plug for the charger- make sure you specify to them that you want the american cord if you're in America.

i use my cigar-a cheapie-just for puffing on occasionally.its a harder draw and gives less vapour than the pen style.i agree with bob in that it feels better to hold-its more substantial...but i wouldnt like to just have it as my only ecig, its better to have it as a backup device...i think the pen style is more practical overall, and gives more satisfaction.i hear good things about the ruyan "bling" cigar, might be worth checking out-they are on ebay, they are metal with chinese writing on them-although you might want to buy something more local.if you stick to e-smoking you'll find you'll probably buy a variety of devices eventually anyway.

Between the two, I'd opt for the pen style. It has all of the attributes already mentioned. Like some others of this board, I enjoy having more than one device to use.

Pipe smokers (I'm one) like variety, but talk of their "go to" tobacco and favorite pipe. I'm the same about this. The pen style is my "go to" e-smoker.

What I want to know is does SmartFixx expect us to send back the non-working parts? I have a dead battery and two dead atomizers and they've sent me a new atomizer and new battery. They always send a free pack of cartridges but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to send back all this other stuff? At MY expense? I'm hoping they'll just forget about it all.

I got a pen style from Meltrex and I like it so much better than the mini I've been using for the past three weeks. One of the pen style batteries croaked and Meltrex is sending another one with a prepaid envelope to send back the dead one.

I feel really bad emailing so often to get new parts to replace atomizers and batteries that stop working. What I want to know is -- do the people who sell us this stuff lose money when we need replacements because something stops working? Do they send back the malfunctioning atomizers and batteries or what happens to all the stuff that gets replaced at no cost to us (the customer)?

VP

Hey VP, to date i have received 2 batteries, a new atomizer and a box of carts to replace incorrect ones that were sent by mistake. They have never requested a return to them. I feel that they realize the "state of the art" in e-cigs is somewhat lacking...lets face facts--these things are a finicky as a 70's era jaguar...and they have decided to win and keep their customers with exemplar customer service.

In my opinion, they have succeeded  and i keep coming back and recommending them to everyone who express interest

10'th hour update on the PenStyle SmartFixx

OK, so I've been testing htis thing all day now, and I've just puffed my 300'th full puff on the same Cartridge [note, I'm not puffing until it starts blinking as I've found that I get a healthy lung-full by just taking a drag like a regular cigarette, which if I took a draw off the E-Cigg until light went on, it would just be too much vapor]. I am still on the same Cartridge, and I'm goign for 400 puffs if it'll make it that far, but the vapor at 300 puffs seems to be gettign just a bit weak now- so not sure I'll make it to 400 puffs or not. I counted how many puffs I take when I smoke my usual Marlboro Ciggs, and I only take 10 puffs on them- so so far, with the E-Cigg, I have smoked the equivilent of 1 1/2 packs on one cartridge. If it makes it to 400, that would be the equivilent of 2 packs of my Marlboros vapor wise- I doubt it is the equivilent of 2 packs Nicotine wise though, But I think I can convince myself to just smoke the equivilent of pack smokewise hopefully, and just forget abotu hte Nicotine [gotta cut down anyways].

My first battery went flat abotu 2 hours ago- but note- I'm not sure it was fully charged- but still, I got 8 hours out of it- much much better than the Mini Cigg's battery [but also, note- my atomizer on my mini was bad, so it might have drawn more juice from the battery in the mini- so I can't really compare battery length]

Once I get past this testing period, I'm goign to try to adjust my E-Smoking to replicate my usual regular smoking which is a pack a day [or rather was 1 pack a day]. I'm hoping a Cartridge will then last 2 days- but not sure I'll be able to stand the drop in nicotine- but I'll try at least.

So far I'm quite happy with the Penstyle

VP2008- SmartFixx didn't ask for my busted mini atomizer back either- not sure what's goign on there- I've had fantastic service from them so far I must say. Maybe the parts just aren't worth bothering with for them? Not sure Really. Which style Cigarette did you get? The Mini or the Penstyle? I knowe what you mean abotu feelign liek we're botherign htem with emails- The Penstyle they just sent me has the European plug for the charger, which I can't use- I wanted to call them and tell them of hte mistake, but I just had ot email them abotu the busted Atomizer and felt liek if I did call, I'd be botherign htem after they were ncie neough to send me replacements for the Mini Cig

I got the mini from SmartFixx and I got a pen style from Meltrex (myecig.com). I must say both parties are excellent at customer service and sent replacement parts right out when I contact them. myecig.com replacement parts will arrive with prepaid postage to send back the broken part. Haven't heard from SmartFixx how they want me to ship the parts back. I haven't thrown them out.

So far I've used the mini-ecig for about three weeks and just got the pen style a few days ago. I like them both and carry both with me when I go out. I smoke whichever one fits my mood :) Usually when I'm driving, I prefer the mini e-cig. When I'm at home, I prefer the pen style. But I work at home so if I were "out" at work I'd probably prefer the pen style.

Random thoughts and all that :) Once I get all this figured out then I'm going to figure how to "drip" because even though I've read all about that, I do not understand what to buy, where to buy it, and how to do it. Seems like a like of crap to carry around!

As for the dripping, What I plan to do is keep some empty carts aroudn just for dripping, but when I go out, take soem standard filled carts with me But really, I've been smoking my Penstyle SmartFixx all day today and been keeping count of the drags I've taken, and so far I'm at 340 full drags from just one prefilled Cartridge- this = almost two packs of regular Cigarettes, which is more than enough- so If I go out for a full day, all I woudl really need is one full standard Cartridge to last all day- heck, it woudl last two days if I smoke like I do when I smoek regular cigarettes [but I have a tendancy to smoke the E-Cigg more often than I smoke regular ciggs normally- but I'll try to cut that down a bit]. The mepty Carts I'll keep at home and drip homemade fluid into them if it works, and just smoke that way at home- that way I don't have to cart fluid aroudn with me when I go out- just take an extra factory prefilled cartridge and extra battery with me which will be more than enough until I get home again.

As for returnign the parts to SmartFixx- just wait and see if they ask for htem back- it might not even be worth it to them to have you send htem back, so perhaps thjey don't even bother askign for htem back- I don't know htough

VP- I just this minute got an email reply from SmartFixx about replacing my Mini Cigg with a Penstyle, which they have said they are goign to do, and they told me in the reply to just keep the Mini Cigg parts [they are also sendign me a replacement atomizer for the Mini- they are goign way above what I expected in their customer service in my opinion] so that answers your question- it must be that it';s just not worth it to them to get them back, deal with hte shipping costs, handling, etc- otherwise I'd think they'd have said they were sendign out a return merchandise slip with hte rplacement parts for me ot send back the defunct atomizer- I think you'll be more than happy with the customer support at SmartFixx- they seem to go out of hteir way to make sure we are taken care of - at least this is my experience so far. to be honest, I've had dealings with some pretty bad companies before, and I wasn't expectign near the service I've received from SmartFixx- it is actually takign me by surprise- a pleasant surprise.

As to my experiment with how many draws I get off one Cart with the Penstyle- I reached 370 and while it was still producing soem vapor [I'd say abotu 1/3-1/2 or so of a full Cart] it was startign to taste kind of funky, so I quit at that point. So, at 10 puffs per regular Cigarette, my 370 puffs from a single pen cartridge woudl be = to almost 2 whole packs of Regular Cigarettes. I would say probably closer to 1 and 1/2 to be on the safe side, as at abotu that point, it wasn't tastign as good and got too funky at 170 puffs. I did turn the 'wool' in the Cart over, and can probably get another 30 puffs easy, as the vapor seems a bit thicker again, but I don't want ot push things too far just yet- so I'll pop another Cart in- the 'wool' still had a little bit of juice in it, but I don't want ot run risk of it drying out compeltely and causing problems, so I'll just quit the experiement at htis point.

Bottom line- If the Penstyle Carts continue to perform liek htis for aroudn a month, I'll be much more than happy with hte product- but this remains to be seen if it will remain htis good.

I'll email them later today. The new atomizer I just got yesterday doesn't work. So out of three atomizers now, I'm down to one that sort of works. I love the mini but I just can't count on it to work all the time. And sometimes I get that nasty burned taste from some cartridges. I've about figured out that's the cartridges -some taste that way from the get-go and others never do.

I'll let you know the outcome of all this :) Thanks for sharing your experiences.

VP- I just got another email from them answerign my last one ot htem where I explained that the Penstyle I got was shipped with a European cord- somethign that I can't use- I told them I'd be mroe than happy to pay shipping and handling to exchange the cord for an American version, but they said "Don't send it back to us- we're shipping hte right coard- we don't want our customers paying for our mistake" [paraphrased]

I'm just in shock how accomodating they have been through this whole situation- I've never run into such good customer service before-

As for the burnt taste, perhaps you could pick up some Bickfords extracts and just put a tiny drop in the Cartridge- let is soak in real good before putting hte Cart back on the Cigg- this might help alleviate the burnt flavor- also, make sure the 'wool' in the Cartridge isn't being melted by the atomizer- if it looks like it might be, try tamping hte wool just a tiny bit deeper into the Cartridge- it might be completely engulfing hte atomizer- or perhaps is a bit too dry and melting just a bit when you take a drag. also, don't hesitate to re email them abotu the 'new' busted atmoizer- Gettign good atomizers is a real hit or miss issue, and I'm sure they realize this. Wish a good solid atmozer coudl be invented that doesn't burn out for at least a couple of months regardless of how it's used

What does the red lighting strike mean on the reviews?
Dallas.

I think this question got overlooked and never got an answer. Sorry, Dallas, but if there is any significance, I don't know what it is either. :?

Could someone kindly enlighten us about the lightning ?
I have checked for anything on this forum to confirm my assumption regarding the lightning, but found nothing to prove it.

However, as I am pretty accustomed to forums, I'd say that the lightningbolts are indicators of very active threads. My guess is that if a thread/topic in this forum receives and/or exceeds a certain pre-set number of replies within a pre-defined time limit, the bolt appears to mark its above average activity.

Well, day two on my Penstyle SmartFixx- New Carts create a lot of smoke, but it now seems to fizzle out a bit quicker than my first day- but I'm using the Carts that came with the kit and suspect they might be a bit dry- havign sat around for awhile, whereas the replacement carts that we order I think are a bit fresher and moister perhaps- the reason I say htis is because I started with one of the kit Carts today, and by noon, it was completely dried out and I hadn't even smoked the equivilent of a 1/2 pack yet. I grabbed another kit Cart, and it too is seemign to fizzle out quicker than the Cart I used yesterday, which was one of hte extra Carts that I had ordered at hte same time as the kit. I'll try one of hte extra Carts tomorrow and see if the Penstyle produces as good a vapor as it did on my first day. The Pen is drawing a little bit harder than yesterday, but not too bad- still much better than the Mini ever did.

Had two significant victories today- I always have a regular Cigg when I walk to the resteraunt for breakfast- well this A.M I almost lit up another one, but decided to use hte E-Cigg instead- didn't htink I coudl do it as I really got nervous- but I gave it a shot, and succeeded. Then, after dinner, instead of a regular Cigg- I toked the E-Cigg- took about 20 or so draws to settle my nerves, but I put off goign for a regular cig for a good hour and half after my meal- only had 12 ciggs in 24 hours compared to my usual 20 - Slow but sure process I guess- still can't break the urge ot go for a cigg after doign soem work and feelign liek I have to take a 'smoke break' though
