Yeah, 'fraid so. In fact I first noticed the issue when I was resetting it while it was plugged in and charging, to get it to connect to the PC and the firmware update software. Just tried it again one more time now to be sure.

I mean the device does work fine. Battery life seems to be less than you described, then again I have no idea how much you vape compared to me, and I know I vape a hell of a lot (chain vaping all day long.) I think I got a bit over a day when I used this device exclusively, pretty similar to the iStick 50W. Maybe tomorrow I'll use it exclusively again and measure more accurately.

Anyway it's not the end of the world. Unlike other internal-battery devices, the M80 literally has two normal 18650 batteries in it. It's just that they're not meant to be user accessible. But worst came to the worst, I'm pretty sure I could open it and replace them with two new batteries (and is it happens I now have four of those, two more than I need for my VF clone).

Just be nice to have something that worked fully for a change :) (Today I received my VF DNA 40 clone and it's basically DOA!)

Aww crap sorry. I've never been happy with the istick fire, it often seems to connect badly such that I think I'm pressing it but it's not firing. I suppose the other side of that is that it could get jammed, if for example the recess is too large and it gets slightly turned or something.

Will you return it, or are you confident in taking it apart? I'd think it would be an easy fix.

I've had it over a month now and its always worked fine. So I dont see them taking it back.

Ah, the fact that it started firing just when you plugged in the USB might mean it's not just a connection on the fire button itself. But not for certain, see further on.

I would certainly talk to the vendor first. For any normal product, a month is nothing - returns should be accepted for up to a year at least. Not just on warranty, but also on Fitness For Purpose. We have specific consumer law on that, I'm sure there's something similar in the States; regardless of warranty, a product has to do what it should reasonably be expected to do - for example a washing machine that stops working after a year is not fit for purpose, and can be returned even without an active warranty.

I say "normal products" because vaping does seem to be a bit different, with warranties more like 3 months rather than a year, and only those on the more expensive devices. RBAs and the like usually say specifically no returns, but that's more reasonable because they get soaked in juice and heated up. A mod really should be covered. Whether it is or not is a different matter.

But even if it isn't, the vendor if they're smart should still cover it because they want return sales and a good reputation. That is unless you ordered it direct from China, in which case it wouldn't be worth posting back to them.

If it were mine, I would talk to the vendor first (if in same country), and failing that I'd take it apart and look for any obvious problems around the fire button. The fact that it fired after you plugged in USB doesn't necessarily preclude a problem with the fire button. Maybe the fire is jammed down, such that it started firing until it hit the 10 second cut-off. That cut off meant it wouldn't start firing again automatically, but plugging the USB in basically resets it or at least restarts the timer, hence it fires again for another 10 seconds.

Do you have any experience with electric / electronic devices? Do you own a soldering iron? Do you do any DIY around the house? If the answer to all those is no, then maybe you shouldn't mess with it (I suppose theoretically the wrong repair could make it dangerous.) Otherwise, have a go at it if the vendor return angle doesn't work out.

If you are going to have a go, there's a massive iStick 50W thread in the mods forum where you could ask for advice - I bet there have been a number of people taking theirs apart in that thread already, either to fix problems or to mod it in some way.

Lol yeah. I've converted all my 8 month olds battery operated swing, bouncer, ect to run on a cell phone charger. I've soldered and done electricial type stuff.

I went and bought a t5 torx screwdriver(which fits) and came home and the damn thing is working properly now for the moment. I won't take it apart quite yet. I'm wondering is some eliquid got in there somehow. My goblin has been knows to leak a little from the fill screw.

Yeah that's weird. I still wonder if it's more a mechanical problem like the button is actually jamming somehow - or a ball of solder has come loose around the fire button and is making a permanent electrical connection. That might explain how it started working for a while then stopped. You might be able to verify that by giving it a gentle shake and seeing if the problem stops or starts again, depending on its current state.

But after you've completed the de-wetting of course, which is definitely a good idea.

I've been quite worried about the wetness issue too. That USB port is quite near the top and provides an easy open hole for leaked juice. And I've had a lot of leaked juice on there. I'm a lot more careful now, but the iStick was my first mod, to go along with my first ever tanks/RBAs/etc, and I've lost count of the number of times I overfilled an RBA, or was putting a fancy rebuilt coil in my Smok VCT tank that didn't end up screwing down right and left a clear path for liquid to pour out of the air holes. Or simply I was using a POS tank, like the Fogger v6 clone I had for two days before I returned it. That thing lost me 8ml of good juice, much of it over the iStick. It'd seem to be fine for a while, and I'd take a couple of hits, then suddenly realise half the juice was leaking out the bottom.

Anyway if the rice does nothing, I'd say you don't have much to lose by just taking it apart to have a look - I'd be fairly confident it'd be easy enough to re-assemble. I've seen dozens of pics of various dis-assembled mods and it always looks pretty simple inside.

Yeah its apart right now. The battery, and all the electronics slide right out in one piece with the top cap. I'm gonna start removing my tanks when I'm not using them. I've never dropped it or anything. The top has has eliquid on it but nothing extreme. I'll let it sit in the rice over night then try it again in the morning.

Awesome, glad you're getting somewhere with the vendor!

EDIT: wait, is eciggity even Chinese? Sorry, I just assumed there!

So they asked you to use vid.me specifically? I just had a nasty thought.. maybe the Chinese can't access Youtube? Which is where I put my video for 3FVape.. maybe that's why they asked you for vid.me

How did that conversation go? Was Youtube mentioned at all?
