Your first purchase after a tin of snuff should be a dark paisley hankerchief, like the cowboys wrapped around their necks. Get a bunch.

I'm a fan of bullets. I did all the other stuff -- pinch out of tin, back of hand, tiny spoon -- and settled on the bullet. Yes, they leak. I always carry two, and have to brush out my right front pants pocket at the end of the day. Bullets make up for their faults by their sheer convenience. I use them everywhere I go, including after meals in restaurants.

Your order looks good. Funny, but you began with what many veteran snuffers consider the best one, Spanish Gem.

black paisley handkerchief was in my first order, and i had dozens of old bandanas at home, as i used to be a headband wearing hippie...

http://www.jimklonowski.com/meandthesky.jpg

as for bullets leaking, i started putting a piece of clear tape over the hole on the opposite side from the 'dial', which stops leaking. i suppose this would make it harder to take a shot directly from the bullet, as you wouldn't get fresh air to flow through the bullet... but i'm a weird-o and usually just use bullets on-the-go for measuring out a pinch, then i tap the bullet onto the back of my hand... kinda defeats the point of having a bullet, but it's the way i do it! lol

Ok, so I was having a cup of coffee and I decided that maybe this was the perfect time to try out some Wow Coffee Bite.

Upon opening the 25g container my first impression was - wow not even a screw on top?! Second impression was - wow this thing is really full to the brim! So I need to transfer some of this stuff to a better container soon. I was thinking about using the bullet the QWS Sandalwood came in, but I already have 2 metal bullets on the way from Mr. Snuff on ebay, so I'll just wait for that.

Ok, on to the snuff itself...Smelling it from the container, it doesn't smell much like coffee. It doesn't smell much at all, really. Upon snuffing* it, a subtle dark coffee smell comes through - but it wasn't exactly the "Wow" blast of coffee I was expecting based on the name and my own preconceived notions. (Maybe I shouldn't have been drinking coffee - that was possibly a bad idea for a first taste.) Also, it seems to have a little less burning tingle than the Spanish Gem - I can see why this could be a good beginner snuff.

All in all it's pretty good. Maybe it will get even better over time or when I haven't been drinking coffee. But in hindsight, I wish I would have ordered less of this and more of the Spanish Gem.

*-So what's the right verb? "Snorting" sounds too illicit. "Sniffing" could just mean smelling it without consuming it. So, can "snuff" be used as a verb, or not?

Another thing I'm wondering about is that I haven't yet *felt* the nicotine and/or tobacco *kick* from snuff. I can feel that kick from just about any Snus - including General Mini's and even the (American) Camels Snus. Even after consuming quite a bit of snuff over time (there's only so much you can do at once) I don't think I've actually felt it in my brain. Though, I've certainly felt it in my nose.

So are there snuffs that actually deliver a kick similar to snus, or is the quantity consumed just too small to compare?

I think a lot of it has to do with your brain.
It's knows it used to get the goodies from the mouth. Smoke, vape, snus = mouth.
Now that it's coming in through the nose your brain just hasn't figured it out yet :D

There is a huge variation in the amount of nicotine in the different snuffs. I'm sure how much you actually use at a time would be a factor as well. It was a solid 2 weeks before I really became comfortable with the nicotine I was getting from the snuff. Same ones I started with and got nothing from started making their nic content known.

I've quite a few WoS snuffs. I love these for feel and smell, all really nice, all what would be considered "medium" nicotine I think. No "kick" but over the course of a day using a "medium" snuff I realize I'm happy. :)

The ones from de Kralingse all seem to be a bit higher in nic, the Latakia based ones seem to be the highest.

Toque is all over the place. Considering the majority of their line is all the same flour that makes no sense but..... The Berwick Brown and Quit hit me the best.

Dholakia White, smells comparable to fish fertilizer but it will deliver fast and sure.

Very little difference between the scotches, they are all on the high side of life for nic, Rooster being near the top. Couple of smallish pinches of any of the scotches and you know you got tapped!

Some snuffs don't seem to have much of a kick for me, others I know I have to be careful with because they have such a strong nic rush. For example, the Toque Grapefruit is smooth to take and has a relatively medium nicotine hit. But the Toque Lime Toast will leave me in tears if I take as big of a pinch as with the grapefruit, due to the much higher nicotine hit. Try going without nicotine for half a day, or so(if possible), and then try a stronger snuff. You might then be able to notice the strength of nic hit! It also depends on how long you have the snuff in your nose before blowing it out.

I have not yet had a rush of nicotine on any of the snuffs I have used.
I base the content of nicotine off my feeling of contentment. The Windmill ones make me content, as does Quit and Honey Bee and a few others, some of the Toques I just want another sniff and another sniff and although I enjoy the snuff the feeling of contentment is not there.

I have a tin of NTSU coming which I have heard is high nicotine. Should be in today so I will give a review. If you do not hear from me tonight you will know why.

I sure hope that NTSU is nothing like that Magnet Menthol DG! That was some pretty awful snuff! Give us the word when you receive it!

Received it today.

Yes it is strong, but it is also pretty nasty. Might put this one in the Iraq box as I am certain it qualifies as "manly".

It smells like something forked out of a horse or cow stall, one of those stalls that only gets cleaned once a month. High ammonia smell, stench really.

But I took one for the team and tried a sizable portion in each nostril. It burns but not bad, seems pretty strong as far as Nicotine goes.

Not enjoyable, but I guess it would serve if you need a hard nicotine hit and you do not mind stuffing some horse poop up your nose!

I am going to leave the tin open for a day or so and see if that smell goes away.

Bummer dg, but that does seem to fit what I had seen in a lot of other reviews about the SA snuffs. Think I'll stick with the Rooster for the big boosts! :)

Dholakia Swiss Chocolate

Ok, I now have a new favorite - by far! Wow, why did I wait so long to try this stuff?! ;) Calling it delicious is a vast understatement. If i could order a metric-ton of this stuff, I would...so that I could dive in and swim around in it! :hubba:

After not being blown away by realistic flavor from "Wow Coffee Bite" (tried it without drinking coffee), I wasn't expecting this to have a realistic chocolate flavor - BUT IT DOES! It's like sniffing Hershey's powder! I can't imagine how any snuff is better than this flavor/smell wise. And since it has relatively little nose-burn, it's got to be the perfect newbie snuff. Now I see what you guys mean by a "dessert snuff" - it's as good as having some chocolate cake! And what's better is that the smell has good staying power, so you can still smell it for quite a while after intake.

P.S. Now that I've tried the swiss-chocolate, I can't see myself ever using the coffee-bite. So, if anyone wants to trade for 25g of Wow Coffee Bite (with hardly any missing), I'd take any snuff, snus, or even eliquid for it. If you want, I'd also throw in a pouch of Discreet Full Flavor and Emerald Ice Snus with one portion missing from each, but can't say that I recommend them, lol. Also, if I try and don't particularly love any of the other flavors from my OP, I may just throw those in too - so if any might interest you, let me know and I'll try them to see if I want them or not.

P.P.S. I'd prefer some snuff that has a bit more tobacco/nic "kick" to it, but I'll try anything

V you might want to try a box of the Dutch Windmill Chococreme snuff, it is a wonderful snuff (I will never purchase swiss choc again now that I have this) and it is much more satisfying as far as nicotine goes.

Sadly I have none to trade with you as I am very selfish with my Dutch snuffs and not that partial to the Coffee Bites.

voltaire....Sorry to hear your not taken with the Wow Coffee Bite....I have it in my top 10.If I wasn't already sitting on 35g's of it I would take it off your hands....although I really don't have anything I want to part with right now! You may want to try some of the American Scotches(Rooster,Three Thistle,Brutons ect.),if your looking for nicotine you will find it there!!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the rec, that will definitely be on my next order. If it's as good as Swiss Chocolate, but with more oomph, then that will probably become my next favorite.

So far everyone on the forum who has tried it loves it. The Choco is also very good although I would rate the Chococreme just a tad higher.

Chocomint is also tasty

there Pepermunt is awesome if you like peppermint
there AP is awesome if you like a fresh pine scent

all of them seem to satisy on the tobacco, I think the ones with the darker tobacco are a little stronger but not by much. That would be the peppermunt and ap. They also have the Chococreme in both tobaccos, one is the Virginia which is lighter (I have that one) and the other is the darker tobacco (latkia or something like that) which I have on order.

THEY ARE ALL AWESOME!

I am finding that I no longer love my other snuffs. I gave the Swiss Choc away!

DG....I do prefer the Molens Chococreme over the Dholakia SC....But I still have a soft spot for it. The flavors(although both chocolaty),are two different tastes....I do give the Nic edge to the Molens!

I am not excited about the Coffee Bites either. I snuf it on occasion but I will not be purchasing anymore. I do love the WOW Coconut Toffee though.
And sadly I am no longer liking my Grape Concord....funny that it was a snuff I did not want to be without, now I had not used it in some time, took a little yesterday and decided to retire it.
I think I am getting into the perfumed snuffs. I do love the WOS Brunswick and am using the F&Ts more, mind you the Windmills are still my number ones I use one of them for about 75% of all my snuffing.

Definitely my favorite dessert-snuff! But the Chococreme has been getting such good reviews, I have it in my shopping cart for my next order!

Can't wait until I get my chococreme... I have the wow coffee bite in my cart to try with my next order, and I really don't have anything to trade for the coffee bite, as I only have a few larger tins of snuff(25g or more). My large snuffs are 25g swiss chocolate, 1.15oz TOPS sweet, 1.15oz conwoods peach sweet, 25g toque coke, 25g toque grapefruit...but there's nothing I'd really want to part with! Sorry!

If you don't find a trade, try some snuff-mixing. Maybe the coffee-bite would be more enjoyable if you mixed it 50/50 with the swiss choc, or maybe coffee/vanilla, coffee/peppermint.... It never hurts to try mixing!(but start with smaller batches so you don't ruin an entire tin!)

Voltaire -- glad to hear your reviews, and looking forward to more. I just joined the snuff crew too :) and my first try was the Dholakia Swiss Choc. It seems like I made a good first choice! I was impressed, too.

I'll have to try the Chococreme. The Wilson's Orange Chocolate caught my eye, too.

Personally, I love the bullet design, and it seems quite convenient to me. As TropicalBob mentioned, they do leak... I keep it in a tiny plastic ziplock (just barely fits it) in my bag. Eh, it just comes down to personal preferences.
(And perceptions. Call me paranoid, but if I'm taking this out with me, I figure a twentysomething girl snorting off a spoon/hand/pinch, especially back in the ladies' room, is inevitably going to look suspicious. The bullet looks more like some kind of alternative-medicine inhaler thingy.)

dgriego, I have to say I chuckled at your NTSU review. I saw a brief review, I think on NicotineRush from ermtony, that mentioned the ammonia smell has to air out a bit. If it's really N. rustica tobacco, then I'm intrigued, because it has more of the beta-carbolines than N. tabacum....but I don't think I can take horse poop airing out around me.
