On another note, all this talk of mixing snuffs and trying different snuffs made me think of something a little funny. Does anybody here ever sniff a different snuff up each nostril at the same time? It would be like stereo smell-o-vision! :p

hehe
doesn't work

Tried it a few times, different combinations, and the different scents at the same time just seem to confuse the brain! Same snuff in both sides, followed with a different snuff, again, both sides, works rather well though. Call it a chaser.

I really enjoy WoS Choc Orange. To get that scent combination in "7.1 dolby", Dholakia Swiss, both sides, chased with Toque St. Clements.

voltaire.....OTD is the "Master" of dual nostral snuffing! He is now broadcasting in 7.1 dolby! Take my advice...Lose the spoons...Your fingers are your friends!!

What the Wiz sez folks! Any tool or implement that works for you in getting the snuff where it need to be is fine.

But

Ya just gotta learn to pinch. Simpler, more versatile, portable and less likely to get lost. :D

I find I am starting to use the pinch more and more. If you really must have something to snuff with you might try one of the Triple Tec Boxes off Nicotine Rush. They come with a tiny little spoon that fits down a hole in the side of the box. The box has another small hole that you can pour out of, if you want to take the snuff off the back of your hand, and the lid slides back so you can fill it up and take a pinch. The box is a bit pricey (35$ I think) but it is a sweet little snuff box.
I do not care for the bullets, I have one of the green metal ones and it is a pain in the .....
I started using the pinch this weekend and am finding it easier with use. It is especially useful when I snuff a fine snuff like Honey Bee or Scotch.
I do use the spoon or back of the hand for some of the wetter snuffs like the Brunswick or F&tS.

Personally I find the small bullets useful only in a car. It is a well known fact that there are only two types of snuffer: those that have spilled a full tin of snuff all over themselves in a car and those that will. Belonging to the former type of snuffer I can tell you it is a sad sad day when it happens. When it happens a second time...well, what can I say. I felt like a total duffus, especially when the air conditioning blows it all over the place. Try having a strong dry mentholated snuff blowing about the car. Yes it is amusing in retrospect! My favorite snuff bullet by FAR is the POSH. It is easy to use one handed and the dose is a little more substantial. Well worth the extra money IMHO. Solid and heavy.

I need a bigger dose which is why I generally pinch, but if you are a small pinch person, the bullet is definitely a clean way to use snuff. You do need good pressure control though because you can't slowly release the snuff as you can with a pinch.

Dave....I have never been on a road trip that required me taking a pinch(or bullet use)while driving(of course I vape most of the time I am behind the wheel).I usually take a very generous pinch or two before getting in the car and I'm good for a half hour or so.Planning a long trip this summer that may require a bullet or alot of rest stops!:D

Nice to see you here again!

I already tried one of those little plastic spoons that came in the DIY Kit from DIY Flavorshack. It didn't work very well for me - it's just too deep and the snuff gets locked in it. To get any snuff at all you have to practically put it up your nose and sniff really hard which unsurprisingly can be a little rough once the snuff finally dislodges and shoots to the back of your throat. You can actually get much better results using the handle end of it!

Definitely ended up being the same result for me! Same spoon from DIYflavorshack's DIY kit. Snuff gets locked into the spoon, and you need to sniff hard to get it in your nose... But flipping it around and using the handle of the spoon does work quite well!

It looks like they are all sold out of the those boxes....must be good :)

Yes, nicotinerush is sold out of the TripleTech boxes. I emailed Tom a few days ago to ask when they would be back, and got this response:

Thanks James. Patrick is currently working on 'Doubles', so Triples are going to be a while.
Tom

Darn! Those tripletech boxes look so sweet!

Yes and the more I get into snuff, and the more I learn the more wonderful the box is. In the beginning I just poured snuff out the small hole, the only time I used the lid was to fill it up.
Now I use the spoon for some wet lumpy coarse snuffs, I use the lid to pinch dry fine snuff and the middle ground stuff I pour out and take off the back of the hand. So it is a all round snuff box.

Save your money BS....Your fingers will work just fine once you get to know them better!!

I'm finding that the Toque stuff is so fine that I'm sniffing it way too far up my nose (and beyond) using my little spoon method, no matter how gently I sniff. It's making my nose run a lot more, too. I've decided to try the pinch method again because everybody swears by it. The only problems are that my nose is getting brown (need a brown nose smiley!), and it's a bit messy.

I can see why nasal snuff will stay a niche tobacco product, because it takes a lot of skill to learn how to use it right.

Thanks for all your welcomes, etc.

BS.....There is a reason they make those nice paisley hankies and you have just discovered it! Snuff intake is a learning process.....for me the pinch is the way to go.I usually just hold it right up to my nostral and "Breath"(not snort)in.Most times I will have some of the pinch still between my finger and thumb....which I re-deposit back into the tin.Too much at once can make the eyes water as well as the nose running....Just start light and work your way up!

Hi Wiz,

I think I'm getting the hang of it. I'm pinching and moving it back and forth across both nostrils as I gently breath. I can sometimes feel little particles going a bit further up, but not like before. My nose isn't getting runny, and the scent is a bit stronger now that it's at the front of my nose.

Okay, back to the mirror! :D

Your getting there BlueSun.....The front part of the nose is where you want to be! I'm fortunate enough to have a tin of Poschl Ozona President that has a "Shiny" mirror like side that lets me see if anything is amiss...LOL...It does get better and better as you go!!

Well, I'm just going to stop naming favorites, because I see now how hard that will be. But this stuff is really good! It sounded that way from the rec's I saw before ordering it, but really, all you guys had to say was that it was like powdered JuicyFruit and I would have got much more of it!

I'm not a big gum chewer, but I've always loved JuicyFruit. When I have a pack of JuicyFruit, I just can't stop regularly putting new sticks in my mouth to get that wonderful taste. Same thing with these Crumbs - I just can't stop regularly sniffing to replenish that refreshing JuicyFruit flavor. I may have to get a pack of JuicyFruit to try the double dose with the Crumbs - it should be interesting.

also, another advantage to pinching is that it helps release more flavors of the snuff. due to the heat of your fingers, as well as just the act of pinching the snuff together, it really does enhance the flavor. I can tell a noticeable difference in flavor between pinching and taking it off the back of my hand.

usually, my snuff method is just based on ease of use. if the snuff comes from a dispenser, i usually pour on the back of my hand and take it from there. if it is a snuff from a tin, i either spoon or pinch.

also, i have heard some people do this:

before sniffing your snuff, take a deep breath into your lungs and leave it there. Then when you go to sniff(with an already full set of lungs), your sniffs are short and gentle bursts. I sometimes use this technique with fine ground dry toasts so i dont end up on the floor

voltaire......I generally use a pinch(or two)of the crumbs everyday...It's in my top 5 for sure!! It does work remarkably well with Doublemint for me!:)

sly...That is it in a nutshell! The heat is what releases the full flavor....I usually hold mine between finger and thumb for a couple seconds before breathing in....It really does make a difference IMO!! I will go as far as to pour snuff from certain dispensers into the palm of my hand for PPP(Pure Pinching Pleasure!)
