Alright folks, we have snuff reviews. Now it's time for snus.

I'll start with Lab 02.

This was one of the first recommendations I got, and one of the best. Plain tobacco flavor which is very nice, medium salt, medium high nic(sterk). The portions aren't shaped the same as others. They are longer and skinnier, and IMO fit well in my mouth. I usually keep one in about an hour before the flavor is just not there for me. Nice slow and even nic release for me. 5/5

General white.

Nice citrus(bergamont) flavor with hints of pepper, and medium salt. I started out preferring the regular portions over the white, but I've flip-flopped since the flavor seems to last longer in the white portions. Medium nic with a nice even release. The only thing I don't like about general portions is the wedge shape. I usually roll them around in my finger to loosen them up before I put one in. 4/5

Goteborg White Large portions:

White portions with a nice juniper berry, good tobacco flavor and medium/low salt. I got two of these as freebee's from get snus on two different orders. Medium nic with a nice even release. The flavor seems to last about 40 inutes for me. 4/5

I'll post more later.

nice detailed review skrymr..i wish i had experience with different types of snus so i could follow along better. yet i still have questions :)

Lab 02

what is sterk? im assuming its relevant with nic strength?

since ive only experienced camel snus frost and mellow.....is plain tobacco flavor similar to camel mellow?

General White

citrus (bergamont) flavor...what is it like? orange, lemon, lime, sweet, tangy, tart, sour?

hint of pepper...like a salty spicy or like table seasoning pepper?

regular/white portions.....is it the size or color of the packet?

Goteborg White Large

i have no idea what juniper berry taste like...could you compare it to a flavor u know?

sorry bout all the questions but i believe i found my holy grail of nirvana happiness with snus :D

Lab 02

what is sterk? im assuming its relevant with nic strength? Sterk means strong, there is mini. regular, sterk, and extra sterk.

since ive only experienced camel snus frost and mellow.....is plain tobacco flavor similar to camel mellow? Not really, camel mellow is very sweet.

General White

citrus (bergamont) flavor...what is it like? orange, lemon, lime, sweet, tangy, tart, sour? I've head it describes a between a lemon and a grapefruit. To me it's a little tangy and tart, but not sour.

hint of pepper...like a salty spicy or like table seasoning pepper? More of a feel than a taste. A little bite, I think it comes from the nic.

regular/white portions.....is it the size or color of the packet? A white portion is dry outside, a regular portion is wet and I think delivers the nic faster, but to me the flavor also fades faster.

Goteborg White Large

i have no idea what juniper berry taste like...could you compare it to a flavor u know? Not really, I can't think of anything to compare it to. It isn't sweet, but it tastes good.

Ask away asidrave, I tried to answer all you're questons in you're quote. If you read through the thread Stubby linked to, there is a post that answers a lot of questions about white, portions, sterk, extra sterk. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Stubby's link takes you right to the relevany post. Thanks Stubby.

Thanks soo much skrymr and stubby. I like the company on this side of the tracks :)
Yep, me too. A nice bunch and non-judgmental. It's more of a family environment around here.

skrymer, nice reviews. I anxiously await your Grovsnus review. It's growing on me, but not on the "A" list just yet. Don't really know why, either. To me it tastes like a bit stronger version of Lab 02, a genuine favorite of mine. I guess I'd define it as a rich 02 flavor. I donno....like to see your take on it, though ;).

You've got that right TV. I could never relax on the other side of the tracks. It seemed like someone was always looking to challenge you on something and their pv was the best, blah, blah, blah, etc....

    The Bergamots

Thought I would do a review of a few of my favorite bergamot type snus. That much misunderstood classic snus flavor that sometimes just can’t get any respect. I admit I can’t do bergamot as an all day snus, but I do like it once or twice a day. General is the one most are familiar with and it’s a good snus, but there are others that are often overlooked that are very good indeed, and for me I prefer them over General.

Skruf: This has become among the two favorites for me. It comes in many forms

White Original Portion - 8 mg
    Regular Portion - 8 mg
Sterk White Portion - 14 mg
Sterk Regular Portion - 14 mg
    Loose Sterk - 10 mg
Extra Sterk Portion - 17 or 18 mg Twisted I hear it calling you
Extra Sterk Loose - 17 or 18 mg

I’ve only done the White original and Sterk loose but from what I've read they all have the same signature. A mild flavored bergamot type snus with a unique rose flavor blended into the background. If you’ve ever been to a middle eastern restaurant you might have had rose water. It goes very well with the tobacco and bergamot. This is milder snus then General and doesn’t have the stronger pepper element. From what I've read from others it tends to be a love it or hate it type snus. I’m one of those that love it. Definitely a different take on how to approach a bergamot and worth a try, even if you're not a big fan of General. Actually, especially if you're not a big fan of General.

    Gotlandssnus Yellow

It took me awhile to get a feel for the whole Gotlands thing. There’s a signature that runs through the whole Gotlands line, Yellow - bergamot, Gray - licorice, Green - apple, and Jules - Christmas. Gotlands doesn’t use any artificial flavors, hence no smoky straight tobacco flavored snus. High quality tobacco that can take a bit to get used to. There is a slight bitterness to it that some don’t like but I don’t mind at all. It’s not the bitterness found in some lower quality snus that can turn bad after 45 minutes or an hour. There’s just a slight natural tobacco bitter element floating in the background that I find pleasing. It doesn’t turn me away in the least. It has a strong citrus flavor that blends very well with the light rich tobacco flavor. Like General it’s a strong flavored snus, and more so then Skruf, but it’s not dark or heavy.

The loose is noticeable better then the portions, so if your a portion only snuser learn to RYO portions to get the best out of this. As I mentioned it can take a bit to get the feel of Gotlands. The first can of Yellow I had I was indifferent the first ⅓ of the can. After that it just got better and better. By the end of it I was scrapping the bottom of the can to get the last savory gram. I keep well stocked now. Probably not a beginners snus, but something you might just well grow into and become a must have. There are some real Gotlands fanatics out there that won’t use anything but.

There is one more bergamot snus of mention, and that is LD white. This is a bit more on the bland side and doesn’t have any strong distinction as in the above two. Bland is not necessarily bad in this case. If your having trouble with bergamot in general this one could get your foot in the door. Doesn’t get bitter and has a nice smooth flavor. I did okay with it and there’s nothing to really stand out. But that might be a good thing.

ok i will add my little review of General White Portion sample from the sampler pack that i received today from getsnus.

upon opening the foil pack...the smell is like lemon cleaning chemical...wow strong chemical smell :(

taste...same as the smel....l very salty lemon chemical taste.

i kept it in for about an hour hoping the taste would get better...sadly it didnt...it did satisfy my nic need tho. it still tasted better than the skoal pouches

waiting for the taste to fade away before i try the general dry mini mint

ok now my review of the General Dry Mini Mint from the General foil sampler pack

upon opening the foil pack..it has a slight minty mediciny smell with a even slighter earthy smell.

taste...in the beginning...minty and slight earthy taste with just a hint of a lemony chemical taste...not bad.

after about 10 minutes...wow...i like it..taste less sweet than camel snus frost...excellent taste.

i sort of wish that it had the camel snus frost taste right from the beginning.....reguardless...im likeing it alot...definetly ordering a can or 2

That's quite a good review, Stubby. That Skurf ES may have some potential :D. I'd be willing to give it a shot......provided it doesn't taste like General :p. I'll throw a can in my upcoming getsnus order and report back. Never thought I would, but you've piqued my interest...even if it is bergamot.

That sums up General White for me too, asidrave. Ya forgot the pepper, can't forget that. Some folks like it just fine, but I'm still slowly working through a second can I got as a freebie from getsnus. I tolerate it these days, but that's as far as it goes. You'll probably like the Mini Mints, and if so, remember that they have it in full 8mg portions, now......used to just be only in mini form.

    Ok TV, here you go.

    Grovsnus White, portions, and black.

I'm putting these all together because the taste is pretty much the same across the board. The only difference that I can detect from them is in nic content in Grov Black, which is higher.
To me the taste is almost like amaretto. Almost sweet, but not quite. Lower salt content. Over all, my favorite snus. The flavor lasts for about an hour, and all of the pouches feel good in my mouth.

I figured it was me again . Amaretto huh? Nope, I'm not getting it. It seems rare that I taste what others do. Amaretto does sound good, though :(. I donno......to me it's a sorta rich tasting 02. Go figure. Good review, though. It helps me fake myself into believing.....I'll let ya know when the amaretto kicks in ;).
