I think people ask that question because they think you are still "addicted" to something, just in a different form. Some smokers are skeptical because they have already tried every other stop smoking aid and failed with it. I know I had before finding the e-cigarette. The longest I had ever quit smoking in the past was with a nicorrette inhaler and that certainly did not simulate smoking, but I knew when I found the e-cigarette that it was the solution I had been searching for. After two months of finally being analog free, I can say that I am less nicotine addicted. I can go out and not be dying for a cigarette after a half an hour. I don't get that desperate feeling that I need to smoke if I am somewhere that I can't vape. I don't even think about it! If people ask me when I am am going to give it up, I tell them NEVER. I replaced a bad habit with a much healthier one. I may reduce my nic level over time, but I don't feel the need to give it up! :)

I'll probably quit vaping just before I quit coffee.

Which will probably be in about seventy years, when I'm in a hospital hooked up to a ventilator and IV. The doctors probably won't pump nicotine and caffeine for me.

Isn't that the truth! I had a gallbladder operation a couple of years ago, and insisted I was fine when the doctor wanted to keep me overnight, because I knew I'd die without a cigarette overnight. Wonder if they would have let me vape. LOL.

GlindaW, I have a friend who vaped before and after surgery. Her husband just carried her PV in his pocket and she got it from him whenever she wanted. I vape in the doctor's office, the elevator, the bathroom at church (leaves it smelling like Lorann's Graham Crackers) :D

I haven't had that problem yet. Most of my friends are smokers who either want to quit or think it's cool and might want one for when the smoking ban hits the bars.

I love smoking cigs I just wanted to be healthier and now I have the best of both worlds YAH ME.

Of course I might not get any grief from people because I tend to be kind of an intimidating person and people never really bug me about anything anyway. It might have something to do with being an Ex Combat Vet (you know we are all crazy).

So my advice would be to say "going off of nic makes me a little batty and I have just bought a handgun, are you sure you want me to stop"!

:D That's funny. Love it.

My family never knew I smoked (well, they found out and I "quit" five times over the years) because they are militant anti-smoke types, which only got worse after my dad (who I used to smoke with) passed away due to lung cancer.

While I was on vacation, I thought twice about letting my sister, who I was staying with, know about my PV -- then we saw a Smoking Everywhere kiosk in her local mall. I mentioned something in passing about them not smelling and being better for people than cigs, to which my sister replies, "No, it's disgusting, it's awful that they get away with that in a mall, blah blah blah."

There are two types of anti-smokers out there: those who have legitimate health concerns regarding second-hand smoke, and those who simply can't stand to see another adult enjoying themselves in ways they don't choose to. Unfortunately my loved ones are the latter, and at least I can vape in their homes without them ever knowing about it. I can have that conversation if I must, but life is easier without letting them know everything I do.

Isn't that the best part? My son's room now smells like caramel, or waffles, or whatever new flavor he is smoking that day instead of nasty stale smoke! It's like air freshener!

When friends ask me, I usually reply with, "Probably around the same time I stop breathing."

When people I don't care for ask me, I usually just say, "Why? Explain yourself. If you're going to make a comment like that, I want to know your reasoning." I'll usually pester them about it for a while until they apologize. I figure if they're going to be a pain, then I'll be snarky.

When I found E-cigs, It was by mistake and I had no intention on quitting cigs. I was just fascinated with the whole vapor thing so I thought I'd get one and try it. The minute I opened it, that was the last time I smoked a real cig. It still amazes me that I don't even think about smoking a real cigarette but I have NO plans on quitting my pv. I loved smoking and now I love vaping. simple as that.

I am closing in on one year tobacco-free (2/26). To this day, my wife still says, "yes, but you are still smoking that thing". In this situation, I applaud myself for giving up the cigarettes and have to ignore her ignorance. My next goal will be to give up vaping and be nicotine-free. I do not know how long that will take, but I feel pretty comfortable that giving up incinerated tobacco can be nothing bu good.
