Well said horton

pardon the typos, on my phone :)

Thanks, clnire..... This "thing" with certain flavors is starting to be a concern to me. I hope we will all continue having the choice to keep buying what we want rather than have a "cleansed" menu of choices approved by big brother so to speak. Not looking for arguments or fights.... just want to mind my own business and do what I enjoy. (end of second rant of the day....lol)

I do quite like the Egg nog, i'm just finding it doesn't do the VC any favours (for me) at that %. Have you any other Nog recipes I could try?

Try this:

5% Egg Nog
4% Meringue or Vienna Cream(I prefer Meringue)
2% French Vanilla or Rum for alcoholic tasting Egg Nog
1% or .5% Depending on how sweet you want it of Bavarian Cream( I lean towards .5%)
I tend to use Bavarian Cream to add a more natural sweetness to the mix, instead of EM or Sucralose.

This sounds very good, I love vanilla. Is their a big difference between tfa vanilla custard, butter and cap vanilla custard, butter? I have all the ingredients except eggnog but all are tfa, I'm just going to substitute eggnog with something else. I think I'll mix this up tonight and see how it turns out using all tfa.:)

Edit I had lor butter not tfa.

I used several substitutions when I first found this thread and then picked up some of the ones specifically listed in the recipes. Yes, there was some difference, but really I think the best "yardstick" is your own perception of how the recipe tastes using what you have.
The Egg Nog I finally left completely out because even at a low percentage I could still taste it.
Let us know what %'s and flavors you end up using and how you liked it..... this is a work in progress......

This was my first DIY Liquid, and im glad i picked this recipe, just tried it and im very pleased.
Thank you :)
You picked a great recipe for your first DIY project. Congrats on success and hope you continue to enjoy your creations.
I really enjoy the recipe and variations in this thread. Don't know why but I'm a "vanillaholic" plain and simple and this thread has enabled me to continue with my vanilla "addiction".....

I guess I don't log onto Grant's vanilla custard site often enough because it's always out of stock when I do. So I made this juice just trying to imagine what Grant's tastes like. If anybody out there who's tried Grant's VC actually has the inclination to try this recipe, I'd most certainly love to know just how far off it is in comparison. I'm guessing it's nothing like GVC, but you never know...

I guess I'll keep trying to get my hands on some Grant's VC so that I can make that comparison myself.

I'm sure u have tried gvc by now but if u havnt u might not like it as much as u think. I believed the hype and bought 100ml from his last batch vg heavy 18mg and vaped like 4-6 drops of it and cant even vape it. I think its always sold out because he only makes a small batch every couple months or so. I dont know I'd glady sell my 100ml for what I paid for it but the 1 person I know that vapes doesnt want it.

Monday I mixed 10 mills with what I had. I substituted eggnog with Dragon Fruit. After I mixed it I gave it a hot water bath, it smelled so good I dripped some and it was harsh with a bitter after taste. Day 2 it mellowed out a lot not so harsh and less of a bitter after taste. Day 3 its mellowed out a lot more and hardly any bitter after taste, haven't been able to put it down today. Here's how I mixed the first one.

mixed 50/50 tfa Vanilla Custard and Vanilla Swirl, 15%
tfa Sweetener, 6%
tfa Whipped Cream, 3.5%
tfa Dragon Fruit, 2%
tfa Smooth, 2%
tfa Graham Cracker, 1.5%
lor Butter, 1.75%

Since I've never tried Grant's vanilla custard I have nothing to judge it by so I'm just going to make myself a good vanilla custard. Here's how I changed it for version 2.

mixed 50/50 tfa Vanilla Custard and Vanilla Swirl, 14%
tfa Sweetener, 6%
tfa Vanilla bean Ice Cream, 3.5%
tfa Dragon Fruit, 2%
tfa Smooth, 2%
tfa Graham Cracker, 1.5%
lor Butter, 1.75%

I am making a 15 ml batch of this tonight. 2 actually. I want to make one from the 2nd revision of the OP, and I want a second opinion of which variation to make. I have all of the flavors that have been mentioned in this thread except for Bavarian cream.

Someone give me a second variation to try and I will keep everyone updated on the two.

Someone stop me!

I cant stop making this, even took two 15ml bottles one to each to my local b&m's. There really good guys and i wanted to see if it was just me, and wanted an honest opinion. Well when i went back to the first shop the first thing he said was you should make this and sell it, i was like wow, now that is not my intention at all and i told him that, but i would be more then happy to mix him up some more for himself. Then i went to the other shop a day later, because i had ordered a bottle of Lion which was my go to custard, well he told me the owner of Illuminati came in before i got there to deliver and said he tried it and that it was really good, and he uses Ube root in his. Well needless to say the bottle i gave him was almost gone also.

This really make me happy only doing DIY for about 2 weeks, and i couldn't have done it without all the help you guys and gals. i currently have 120ml steeping and about half of a 15ml bottle, that im sure will be gone by tomorrow lol.

Thank you again for this recipe and help.

Mike

I "calibrated" the Capella dropper bottle using a 1 ml syringe. This certainly is not up to any lab standards, but it does give me a repeatable way of dispensing. I know it is not accurate, but it is repeatable which is fine with me for that small of an amount. I only have to do it once per bottle to have a pretty good estimate of how much I'm dispensing.
