Heya folks, are all the good guys still here, plus some new friends???

I went AWOL for almost a week I think, and then saw as I was trying to catch up that the thread had been re-launched. Understand completely that we filled it up with our good and bad times, and sharing them, which I so truly love.

I'm still not smoking but it is a daily thing, and I have SO COMPLETELY LOVED this group for making that possible. I am OK for almost 3 months now with no analogs. If I had them, I would smoke them, but I'm so well and truly broke that I'm just grateful that I have PVs and a pretty good supply of various e-liquids. I can hang through just about everything so far.

My mentally ill son is now living with me and my mom full-time, for the moment. He is a bit of a challenge, but he has a good heart and is supremely high-IQ -- he tries to be good. My mom at 86 is deteriorating at a rapid rate. She's a bit of a challenge too. I have a part-time job shipping family pets to their overseas destinations (military and corporate relocations mostly) -- and trust me, it's a challenge these days with the weather going on. Various airlines suddenly announce that all pet shipments are suspended due to weather, and their owners have already flown to England, Germany, West Africa, you name it. Interesting and wonderful to try to keep everybody (especially the dogs and cats!) happy and safe.

BUT OMG I'm SUCH A GOOF! The main new life event is that my second grand-daughter was born this morning!!! She and my DIL are healthy, happy, and beautiful, bless their hearts! All I know is that she's better at having babies than I was -- both my sons were born after 20+ hours of labor, and my DIL bless her heart, has had both her daughters within just a few hours of arriving at the hospital. GREAT JOB!!!

Where do you keep them when their fight gets postponed? Do you involve your son with the animals at all? I've read that can be very therapeutic for the mentally challenged.

Support Our Troops!!!

repost from old thread:

as some people know I still smoke 2 cigs a day, at bedtime, because I'm old and I want to. I got down to 2 cigs a day a month or so after starting vaping 2 years ago

my goal was to go from 2 1/2 pad to 1 pad. I had no intention of quitting! I liked smoking the main reason I didn't plan to quit was I was not going to allow the nannys and the government to dictate to me what I could do in my personal life. I'm still a little like that 15 year old who if told to not do something then becomes bound and determined to make sure they do it LOL. I refuse to buy scott garden products because they even dictate that their employees families can't smoke either . I like to go park in lowes parking lots and vape in my car because apparently that isn't allowed either!

the only reason I wanted to cut back was the cost was killing me. I happen to think that (at least some) nicotine is probably good for us.

I am proud that I have been able to hold my cigs at 2 a day without going over. I am proud that I don't even think of having a cig until it is getting close to bedtime. right or wrong, I do consider myself a non smoker too.
one of the things I love about getting old is I really only care about what I think of myself, I could give a flying fig what others think of me

on this forum there is no need to be embarrassed or ashamed about what stage you are in. this isn't a quit smoking forum it is a vaping forum.

I don't judge smokers ... you won't see me calling cigs "stinkies" or complain about the smell of smoke, etc.

so, do the best you can and don't judge yourself, there are plenty of people out there to do that for you

Welcome Kathi! I think there are more people out there in ECF that are still smoking than we know. Please come back when you have the time and chat with us, I know I look forward to it and I am sure I am not alone. How far is Stonington from Fort Kent? My Roommate lived up there for 10 years before heading here to Florida. My Nephew lived there for a long time as well.

Thanks Karen, wow, Ft Kent is way up north. I'm on an island halfway between Rockland and Bar Harbor.

I s there still a bar in Daytona Beach called Ichabod's? If so, and if it's still owned by them, Anna and Rob used to live here where I am. He had a restaurant called the Whale's Rib.

Aik I only hit like on your post because I'm commiserating, not because I enjoy your hard time. I hope things ease up for you soon!

Ditto. I can't imagine running around with no teeth, and I can. I need apx $10K in dental work. Dentists keep saying it'll cost $20k-$30k to get dentures. What's a poor person to do? Wait it out I guess. But yea, I can relate as to how this kind of stuff creates the desire to smoke and alters the smile. It's sad, but I think it's the new normal. Good luck at the dentist. You deserve some luck your way.

FQ - Now you just stop that right this instant. I do not want to hear that from you again, ever!

That whole thing had absolutely nothing to do with you except that the juice you made was so good I wanted to keep vaping it. That is a testament to your skill as a juice maker. You did not put diacetyl in the juice. You did not make me have a reaction to a chemical that we both knew nothing about. The cinnamon flavor is an easy one to avoid; a person can readily taste it. Who would think I would be one of a tiny, tiny percentage of the population to react to custard. Ridiculous for you to even have a thought about it. Would be no different if I woke up one morning allergic to PG after vaping it for 6 months.

You are a good person and take some stuff too much to heart. Let it slide off your back and forget it. I will not bring it up again except if a new person comes in with symptoms. And it is any custard made by anyone. You are the only one of all my vendors that lead the hunt for a solution. All others sidestepped or denied. So be proud of yourself. Love you.

I'm still feeling major feelings of guilt over that damn Vanilla Custard. I'm so sorry Shari!!!!!!!

The place sounds familiar, I haven't been out of the house for a long time, I am disabled. I worked in the beach area for years, I can just about "see" it but I am not sure if it's the bar I am thinking of.

Yes, Fort Kent is literally at the border. I don't know how they could take the cold, I can't imagine how cold it is up there.

I do not like this post at all. FQ, see if there is a dental school or college anywhere near you. If there is, even if it is a couple hours away, it will be worth it. In Nashville, I could have gotten dentures for under $1k, closer to $800 for a full set. There was just too much work to be done pulling my teeth and the school wanted to fix teeth, not do dentures for me. Check it out. Will save you lots of money.

Those of you with dentures or in need of dentures will understand why I just totally lost my tiny mind. DD2 said "mama your teeth were in the floor and I stepped on them." They broke in 3 pieces, one of the pieces is missing. Still no answer to HOW DID THEY GET IN THE FLOOR??????? But I think the cat did it. I had a nice visit to insanity land but I'm back now. Bye bye thousands of dollars. . . hello thousands more dollars I don't have and can't come up with. Oh, and going to work looking like an extra on the set of Deliverance.

I really want to smoke right now. Actually I really want to smoke a whole pack back to back right now. But since I'm broke I can't go get any so never mind, guess I'll stay quit for today. Have appt tomorrow for dentist to look at it and see if it can be fixed. Best friend/carpool partner says I can use her credit card and pay back with tax refund. Fingers and toes crossed I won't need a new one.

Sorry for threadjack, but sort of on topic since I really REALLY want to smoke right now.

Congratulations, new Grandma!!! And how wonderful for you that you get to see the wee one in person. Sounds like both are in good shape too, so that is a blessing.

This seems to have been a trying day for a few of us. Just to put things in perspective, since I was feeling sorry for myself over construction and no kitchen and cold weather, etc. Here is this.

A friend in another thread was driving in MS last night and caught a big patch of ice. There is not supposed to be ice and snow there. Rolled her car. Had to be released from being upside down at the side of the road in rolled car. Not seriously injured, but just step back and think. How lucky we are to be complaining about the things we are complaining about today. We are home and warm and safe.

Ok, so I took a bunch of pictures of kitchen and other rooms damaged in burst pipe fiasco. Found manual for camera and reading to see how to upload to computer and then to email to ins person. So that mess is in my brain. Then DH opens mail and we get ins estimate and what they will pay for. They have our over 600sf of hardwood listed as laminate. (We have more so it would never match up). More phone time and talk to get it right. We could never fix floor because they only gave half the area and $ won't begin to cover the replacement we need. Most of rest of estimate looks reasonable. Ugh. No more room in brain. Back to reading camera manual.
