Hi everyone! My surgery went fine and I am home recuperating. You are not going to believe this, I did not, but the evening of my surgery I get a call from my DH. While he was visiting with my sister and her husband after about 1/2 hour of talking, my sister just keeled over and had a major heart attack and died. I did not believe it. But, yeah, she died the day I had my surgery. I went to her funeral Monday night. Still can't absorb it. She was 2 years younger than me. We were making plans to visit this week.

I'm sorry to hear about your sis, Shari; and happy to hear that you are well, and home again; hate that you had to go home to such sadness. Hang in there... :vapor:

Thank you all. I thought maybe sharing it would make it more real so I could deal with it. Not working so far. It will take time. I had to go to the funeral with this big neck collar and a walker. Maybe that was good because they did a Horrible job on her makeup. She looked Orange, real orange. But I kept my mouth shut (for once).

I still do not think it has sunk in that she is gone with me on all those stupid pain meds. Wonder how long it will take to sink in. I thought DH crashed the car from the way he was talking at first. She will be missed.

On other news, I took my MVP2 and r91 with Caramel Pear Black Tea in it and vaped it just a tiny bit. Did not get caught, but with all the tubes and monitors and pain meds and all I just really did not feel the desire to vape.

I know I'm late to the thread. I really got into vaping back in Oct 2012. Then at first it took a couple of days to quit completely and I was off tobacco for 3wks, and a stressful moment sent me back to smoking. Ever since then I've been struggling to quit, and e-cigs seemed like glorified NRTs. However, they are the only NRTs that could help me quit with minimal depression and fatigue. I realize now that it takes my willpower too. Now, I'm back to vaping fulltime, but still struggle with that one a day.

Welcome Matthew! I'm in this thread just like you because I ran into a snag when I started vaping and hopped back on with cigarettes. You're not struggling alone, believe me! I'm right there with ya!

Welcome to the thread new people :)
Face it quitting is hard or none of would be here, actually ECF wouldn't be here either. Take it 1 day at a time and stop counting the ones you smoke. Count the ones you don't smoke. Stay positive and keep trying. You haven't lost the battle until you've given in and given up. Until then you're a fighter ;)

There's lots of good people here and lots of good advice. Just ask and don't be shy :)

Here's a tip. Look into Swedish Snus (not the American stuff). It can really help with the WTA's you may be missing from cigarettes. Most stores carry General and if you register on their site you can print coupons and try it pretty cheap. It's nothing like smokeless tobacco - no spitting, and other than a little salty, tastes pretty good. There's more to this than just nicotine. Some people, myself included, need the WTA's.

Welcome, Matthew! Welcome back, Rotowoman. Lox is right. There are no stupid questions. Everyone in this thread has struggled with giving up the smokes, even with vaping to assist. Some are still struggling and others have succeeded. Some have moved away from the thread and others are still around. Sometimes we post struggles or successes of the day and sometimes we rant. It's all good.

I know that I would never have been able to give up cigarettes completely without this thread. All of ECF is very helpful, but in here everyone understands what you're going through. None of us in here ever quit "accidentally" like so many claim they've done. It is/was an ongoing struggle. The support and understanding of everyone in this thread helped me like nothing else ever could. We don't judge missteps and offer plenty of kudos for even small steps. Suggestions come from experience and everyone has different experiences to share. We all have different triggers and ways to cope with them.

You never know when a suggestion will be exactly what you need to get over the hump. I worked my way up to smoking nearly 4 packs a day after over 42 years of smoking. I was on my 3rd attempt a quitting with ecigs and was doing pretty well at home, but couldn't keep from smoking at work when everyone else was smoking. My APV seemed awkward when others were smoking cigarettes. One of the people on this thread suggested I try an eRoll cigalike at work (thanks Alisa) and even though it seemed like a step backward, I tried it. From that day on I haven't smoked a single cigarette and it's now been over 1 1/2 years.

So feel free to ask, post, rant or anything that might help. You'll get the support you need to make it a bit easier.

And that thing about WTA... if you're like me and just can't stomach the idea of that stuff in your mouth, you can vape WTA too; I mixed it at 10% into my ejuice for 5 months; start of this year, I rolled it back to 9%, and that's been going very well, I don't even think I'm vaping any more than I was, so starting in Feb, I'll go to 8%. That stuff saved my 2nd attempt at smoke-free, after my appendectomy when I relapsed for a month and then FINALLY got smoke-free again, only to run face-first into the cravings 10 days later, so you'll understand why I'm taking my withdrawal from WTA verrrrrrrrrry sloooooooooowly. :D I want NO repetitions of those obnoxious cravings!!!!

wholecig.com
aromaejuice.com
mothersmilkwta.com

The mothersmilkwta is the least expensive, but it also has the most pronounced tobaccoish taste/smell; the aroma comes in diff flavors of ejuice, or very expensive unflavored if they have it in-stock. The wholecig is clear and really has no particular smell, so it probably just tastes like nicotine in VG.

Yeah, it really needs to be used with a tobacco or other "smoky" type flavor. I imagine that by itself it's pretty rank, but I really can't imagine vaping "unflavored". With my Smoky Cappucino, with the 9% or 10% wholly mmwta, it's fabulous, but there's also Tobacco Absolute in that vape, along with Inawera Coffee Tobacco, which is also very smoky -- it's sort of like having a cup of coffee in a diner in the old days, before the Smoke Nazis made it a mortal sin to smoke indoors.

I just wanted to announce how absolutely DELIGHTED I am to now be 6 months smoke-free. You people, WTA, and ECF as a whole, have made it possible, right along with the e-cigs themselves. I never expected to ever be smoke-free, so this is pure serendipity, and I am GRATEFUL!

Any of you still struggling, hang in there, because it's so worth it. Just don't stop vaping, no matter what.

Besides it tasting/smelling bad, I added too much to my juice, which ruined it and bummed me out.
However, I am glad it exists and works for others. :thumb:

What I did with the mothersmilk was mix it into another juice I had, and I didn't even taste it. They had also sent me a couple of small freebies. They sent blueberry and HoneyDew. The HoneyDew YUCK, BUT, I mix it with another juice and get along just fine.

I tried that, but the smell and taste was so strong, it overpowered anything I put it in. I ruined a bunch of juice before giving up and PIFing it. That Honeydew was the worst. That smell took forever to leave one tank; multiple cleanings later.
I am glad it works for you though! :thumb:

Just on the heels of yesterday's 6 months... today I reached 'ECF Veteran' status! woohoo! :D Which means it's now been almost a full year since I started vaping -- I got my first eRoll exactly a week to the day after I got here. But I have to say... I still feel like a noobie sometimes, especially with all this DIY stuff. But it's getting better!

How've you been? :)

THANKS - For the link and asking . . . :)

AND - Although I am still struggling with becoming a "Full-time Vapor" and looking for that allusive "ADV" Flavor - I'm doing alright . . . Been checking out the NET & WTA Threads a little more and looking at trying some unflavored VG Nicotine to use with "Liquid Menthol Crystal" & "Kolada" to see if that will also help . . . We'll see . . . ;)

HOW - About "You" ? ? ? & "Jazz" ? ? ?

@ "Andria" - CONGRATULATIONS on becoming an "'ECF Veteran" . . . :rickroll:
