My 5 year vapeversary is coming up soon.
Congratulations Thay! That is so awsome!

I need to get back here and post. Haven't been doing as well as when I first started. It's been a hectic last 2 weeks and the stress got to me. Some days, I am smoking 22. I was down to 12 one day when I first started so I'm real disappointed in myself. But when I get stressed, I want the real thing. In those moments, I don't care about vaping. I just want my real cigarette. So I'm going to start again tomorrow and count out 17 and try to post even if I am stressed. I just don't want to depress you guys so I tend to go into isolation. Still better than 45 and I'm even convinced now that I probably broke into a third pack on most days.... I just couldn't admit that to myself. Got all my 'gear' ready to go for tomorrow. Thanks, everyone for encouraging us all to write whether we are doing good or bad....

So glad you are all here! What a great gang! Thanks so much!

Love and hugs to you all!

I'm checking in. Considering recharging my stuff and trying again. My smoking is out of control and I know I stink. Just lacking willingness to switch over and being stubborn. I think my vape juice is safe!?! Just need my equipment to work properly all the time rather than once in a while. Have a great day see you all soon

Lori, I can understand being unsure about starting over again, especially if your equipment gives you problems. There are a lot of new things out now that were unimaginable when you and I started. Have you thought about using one of the new pod systems? They seem to be more similar to smoking and pretty reliable. About your juice...I'm pretty sure it won't hurt you, but it probably won't taste the same as it did. You won't know until you try.

CONGRATULATIONS ON 5YEARS .

WAY TO GO!!!!!

Thanks, Lori! I never would have been able to do it without this thread and all the support I got from you and others.

Congrats on your upcoming 5 years. On July 5th I'll be smoke free for 8 years.

Thanks, Fran! 8 years?!?! That's a looooong time. Amazing and good on you!! :toast:

Wow, @Thayamax 5 years! That's awesome! In reading the old thread, and this one, I remember a lot of you guys, and yourself, having a tough time of it.

Seeing that you're 5 years free gives me (and probably all of us) hope!

Thanks, Skwij! You are correct...I and quite a few others did have a tough time quitting the smokes. I was a dual user for 4 months after I started vaping for the third (and last) time. I finally joined this thread and started posting. After 1 month I was no longer smoking. Others also quit, but some still continued to dual use and couldn't quite make a complete switch, but continued to cut down a lot. It's a different process for everyone. How are you doing? :thumb:

Thanks, Donna! I had a feeling you were backsliding and that's why you weren't posting. Don't feel that you're going to make us feel bad or that we'll judge you for not hitting your goals. We're here to give you kudos when you're succeeding, but more importantly, moral support when you're struggling. Quitting is difficult in the best of circumstances, let alone when you're stressed. I personally found that it was more important to post when I was having a hard time than when I wasn't. How can we help you if we don't know you need it? Anyway, good luck tomorrow!

So, now we're just waiting on @tgs3 and @Possum64 to check in. Hello, where are you?
:tumble:

Hey, Lox! Nice to see you pop in. How's Jazz these days?

Hello @Thayamax I am here! Still lurking around the background. Huge congratulations to you for your (almost...so close...!) 5 years. And @FranC for your upcoming 8 years! What wonderful achievements. You are both an inspiration to us all.

I am having a 2 week vacation from work at the moment as well. I purposely didn't make any plans. Sometimes it is nice to just stop and flop! Friends of mine travelled up from Sydney and stayed with me for 5 days - they are both smokers and I can honestly say that I wasn't tempted in the least to have a cig. My vape smelled SO much better than their smoke!

I think I may have convinced the husband to give vaping a go. One of the main incentives for him is the cost - they pay $40.50 for a packet of cigarettes  so I sent him home with a simple set up and 4 different 30ml liquids to try. (I DIY so he got to pick his flavours). Fingers crossed! His wife is not interested at all at this point in time. Fair enough :(. Even if one of them quit (or cut down smoking) they would be way ahead financially.

It is great to see our resident hairdressers @Hopeful64 and @Skwij dropping in to keep us up to date and to share their journey with us. You are both doing really well. Sometimes this quitting smoking can be damn hard so it is great to be able to pop along here and vent /chat or just have a read. What a terrific bunch of people you are

And a big welcome (back) to @FL Lori! I hope you stick around to keep us company :)

Thanks, Possum! It sounds like you're doing well with vaping. It's always nice to be able to help someone else get started vaping. I hope it works for him and maybe his wife will jump on the bandwagon, too. I love how you called a non-traveling vacation a "stop and flop". That describes me on any day I don't have to work. :D Enjoy the time you have remaining.

Oops, I almost forgot to call out one of our favorite people for a check in...…KCOYNU where are you? :tumble:

PS @Uncle - Don't think I forgot you. I know you're always around, just not vocal unless needed.

I am here. Happy to see this thread become so active. Yesterday was my 40th smoke free day. I will not smoke today - that's for sure. I can say that with certainty because I have no desire to do so. The last few analogs I smoked were awful, and I didn't buy a new pack when I smoked my last one back on May 11. I am now also seeing the financial benefits. Vaping (now) costs me about $60-75 per month - liquid and the occasional pack of coils I buy from China.

Happy chain vaping to my vape mad pals!

Wow! Congratulations to every one of you! You are all such an inspiration.

Right now, I cannot imagine being a vaporer only and yet I read that most of you thought the same thing at one time, so I still have hope.

I counted out 17 this morning. I have 3 left right now but I'm going to be up for another hour so I may smoke them and I may not. I have definitely found out that morning and nights are my hardest times. And stress. I was thinking today that maybe I am one of those ones that would be satisfied to stay under a pack a day but I know I am only fooling myself. I want it to be less than that and maybe someday (hopefully by my 64th birthday) I won't want any more real cigarettes.

I am still quite thrilled that besides a couple of real bads stress days, I have stayed at the one pack mark. That to me is even a bit of a miracle.

I actually feel as if I do better on the days I don't work. It seems as soon as I finish a clients' hair, I want to grab a cigarette before the next client comes in?? I guess that was my habit for 43 years. I can't wait for the day, that I grab my vape and puff away until the next client comes in.

I also can't wait for the day when the real ciggie tastes so bad that I will want my vape more. although I have to say that I am getting very used to vaping a lot through the day.

I am so happy that I have you guys to talk to. You are all such an encouragement. I am going to try even harder tomorrow to watch myself in the morning. The first 2 hours I am up are the worst. If I could get into the habit right now of only having one or two, it would help my numbers to go down so much faster. I need to break the smoking in the morning.

I'll check in tomorrow night. Love and hugs to you all!
