that blue fish aquarium filter stuff in cartridges (anyone remember those?) and then tossing the cartridge in favor of dripping (which I totally sucked at!!)

.

That blue stuff was before my time, but I did try dripping in an atomizer. No matter how hard I tried to mentally calibrate the process, I would always either not drip enough or, more commonly, flood the thing and end up with juice all over my eGo. After that I went back to cartos, where I started, and even tried the eGo-c system for awhile.
Didn't have a successful drip until I went with the igo-l, which basically opened the door for mods and other rebuildables.

Nobody was more surprised than me that I was able to switch to vaping after smoking for 42 years, working my way up to nearly 4 packs a day. It took me 3 tries over the course of 4 years to do it, but it's the end result that matters. I remember the blue aquarium foam and pyramid tea bags, although I never used them. I started with an 808 cigalike because the cartridges looked like a lot of work and mess. That didn't last long, but the next time I tried the egos were all the rage. That lasted a little longer, but still didn't work out for me.

I don't know why or how I was finally able to succeed other than the fact that the equipment has improved so much in the last 4 years. More power and better flavor has helped me a lot. I started with a couple of Zmax mods and an eRoll to get through the times when I just really needed the feel of a cigarette. I moved to an MPV3 and then powered up to a Sigelei 20W. I also started to rebuild when I moved from the ProTank to a KFL+. Wow, what a difference! My go to now is a Cana DNA 30 and the new iStick 20W (even though I rarely go over 12 watts) both topped with the KFL+. I've found that I really like the box mods and the tube mods don't get much use.

I can't imagine myself going back to smoking, but never say never. I can actually be with a smoker and not crave a cigarette. I know, I can't believe it either.

You got me thinking. I am still going back and forth 'tween analogs and vaping. Since I 1st started interacting w/ this thread, I have more and more been reminded/remembering the MO I first successfully started vaping by. I even went as far as reading over this http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/211345-new-users-nicotine-strength-questions.html yesterday, which is full of new vaper tips and great reminders for ppl trying to get back on that horse.
Yes, WTAs work when I work them, but I am still reaching for a smoke rather than that.

One thing I haven't tried is going back all the way to the basics with a cigalike. Perhaps even load that with WTA juice.
Thing is, while I still have my old Halo G6 batts, I am not confident they can keep up with my recent increase in both vaping and smoking.

While I am considering digging up my old gear and at least giving it a try, would you or anyone else have a recommendation regarding some kind of new-fangled cigalike? You mentioned eRoll. Someone mentioned the Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit, which kinda looked somewhat cigalike-ish to me. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

The eRoll isn't bad, but the tank is *tiny*, .4ml. It became a huge pain. The vv3 is more like an eGo, except squared off instead of round, and with a little screen, variable voltage or wattage, and it's got the micro-USB charging plug at the bottom, so you can vape in pass-thru mode.

I used my eRoll again when I was getting back into vaping in the summer, but mainly because all my ejuice just tasted strange to me, and the eRoll really mutes flavors. Once I got past all the juice tasting strange, I went back to my kayfuns.

Ah, ok then. Looks like I will be breaking out the cigalikes then. .4ml wouldn't go far with me. I'll still keep an eye out for suggestions here.
TY very much though, Andria.

Think I may post a thread see what the rest of ECF have to say.

My eRoll was the final kick that actually got me off of cigarettes completely. I needed something that looked and felt like a cigarette when I was around people smoking. Everyone at work smoked and my big Zmax just didn't feel or look right while taking a smoke break with coworkers. Being able to join them with a cigalike felt more natural and kept me from reaching for the real thing. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I dealt with the small tanks by filling up a bunch of them and carrying them in tiny pill boxes. That way I didn't have to stop and fill one each time it ran out. I'd just grab another prefilled one and pop it on. I loved the fact that you charge the eRoll by putting it into the charging pack (which looks much like an iPhone) fully assembled and just popping it out when needed. It's similar to taking a smoke out of the pack, the difference is when you're done you put it back in. If it hadn't been for the eRoll I think I'd probably still be smoking.

Well, I was using the eRoll when I quit the first time -- what thaya said about pre-filling tanks, that's a really good idea; when you buy a 5-pk of extra tanks, they come with these little silicone caps on them, perfect for storing them when filled. It worked very well for me, for the month when i was first phasing smoking out and vaping in, and then as I said, this summer when I was doing the same thing again.

Also, they have a new model of the eRoll, the eRoll-C; the charging case holds and charges three eRolls instead of just one, and it also holds 3 extra tanks. Dunno if it's available anywhere but Joyetech yet, it's really new, so it's kinda costly -- you can get one of the original eRoll starter kits at myfreedomsmokes.com for $39.99. Also, the new PCC is 1000 mAh instead of 900 mAh, but maybe that's because it needs to charge multiple devices.

I always got a kick out of seeing the double-takes when someone saw the end flaring blue when I took a drag on it. :D

That blue foam was awesome after having used fluval so long. As were the pyramid teabags.
I remember how thrilling it was when egos came out ($85 minimum for a kit - price was fixed by Joye and some retailers selling for less were shut down as distributors by Joye)
All that was avaible before that was pen styles like 801, 901, 302. Or 510, 808, 306, 401 etc. mini cig alikes. I used to have a 10 port 510 charging station and carried 6 or 8 with me as battery life was about 45 minutes.
People would "modify" flashlights, battery boxes etc into ecigs (that's where the term "mod" comes from)
That's when I started making box mods. I could carry 1-14500 battery and it would outlast all my 510's.
Ok now I feel old darn you.

Well, one of the thread's old friends PM'd me, offering to send me his old eRoll. Don't want to point him out publicly, not knowing how discreet he wants to be. But still, all of my gratitude.

Our members are awesome!! But, we need to call out the LURKER and have them post a wave or something. . .:)

It's amazing to me how "user-driven" vaping is. The community has made vaping what it is. Yes, you have advancements by this or that company based on R&D, but a lot of advancements are from the tinkerers.
I am still not aware of the pyramid teabags. Gonna have to google that one.

Speaking of tinkering: I have seen one or two videos about people steeping tobacco in PG/VG. I am considering putting about 30ml of a PG/VG mix in a food processor with the tobacco from a pack of cigarettes. Of those who have tried this that I have seen, they just pretty much stuffed the tobacco "as is" in the mix. Thinking food processor will help "puree" the leaf to maximize surface area and, by result, the extraction process.

Then again I may not do this. Just thoughts in the head right now. After all, I have a storehouse of nic concentrate as well as a few WTA bottles. Not really NECESSARY but thought interesting to try.

Ive though about trying that with some coffee beans. If I ever actually buy some and do it before I cover them in chocolate.

I fear im starting to stress about upcoming make a wish trip for child that is in like 35 days. Vaping more. Running out of flavors. Having unexpected bills. Girlfriends sister is being kicked out of apartment by roommate (don't know why, my guess is the weekend visit that turned into 2 weeks here) and having to move all of her stuff by Friday.

Want to visit ecig store in next town over. Has a peanut butter/butterscotch flavor im craving. Also thinking im coming down with need-new-item-itis..

Trying to decide if im brave enough to try woodworking to make my own boxmod. Know what id like it to look like. Doubt I could do it. Also want to try making a regulated mod, but not sure when that will happen.

I feel like my taste buds might be returning after a long time gone. I've found that lately my favorite flavors are too strong. I've always needed in your face flavors to be able 6 taste them, now it seems I have to add custard to them to tone them down. I'm not complaining since I love custard, but it's just strange after all this time. I have lots of juice i don't like and I don't think even custard will help them. :(

that sounds interesting, esp since it's so hard to get a good coffee flavoring. only thing is i have heard people warn against using oils, which is pretty much what comes out. i guess they say something about it gumming up the coils. though not quite sure there is THAT much oil. i dunno. not trying to be a naysayer. you actually got me thinking about the same lol

sorry things are so stressful right now. it is that season, i guess. plus all the other things you mentioned.

personally, i have decided to reward myself with some new juice (mostly vape DIY). i don't quite have a "no analogs in X days" benchmark. more of a "when i feel i have gotten back on track" benchmark. maybe if i can get consistently under a half a pack/day for a couple days. not quite sure even what KIND of flavor i want yet. but kinda fun considering diff things. keeping me excited & mindful of vaping

that's the one thing about not being able to make a full switch right now that frustrates me. as i taper back to vaping, my taste/smell are slowly returning. whereas when i do a drastic switch, within 48 hours my taste/smell come back strong and supersensitive for a time. i really like having those few days of hypersensitivity and pretending i am wolverine. w/o the claws, of course :p

also, and sorry if this is too nasty a question, but who else gets/got that collection of tar and shed taste buds (or whatever it is) that starts loosening up and shedding off your tongue as you come off analogs?

I don't get that, but when I smoked, I always had this awful build-up on the back of my tongue; I'd have to scrape it off with my fingernails, putting a toothbrush that far back always gagged me. Yeah I know, icky... c'est la vie as a smoker. :D

yeah, i think we are talking about the same thing. i wonder how much of that affects taste.
and you know what, i'm not sorry i brought it up. that's nothing compared to the ick on the lungs or the plaque smoking leaves in the arteries an veins. thinking of these things makes me want analogs less and less. yuck!
perhaps we should discuss these things more! lol

Tim I am going thru that right now in fact..it's weird it even feels like it seeps from my pores, and Mt lips get wicked dry. But that is the price to pay. Andria actually gave a killer tip, and coconut water to either lemonade or og. That helps the weird tongue thing
