What nicotine level are you vaping at? I used to have a bottle of the nastiest... most Marlboro-iest ashtray tasting e-liquid I could find in a high nic level. It was way too nasty for an all day vape, but a few hits of that first thing in the morning got me through. Now I can't really stand strong tobacco flavors <shrug>

I totally understand, I didn't think that I could ever get through a morning without my coffee and 3 or 4 smokes before work. I have had the same routine for years. The more I got into vaping the more willing I was to give it a shot. I keep my PV next to my bed and hit it as soon as I wake up, a little more on m way to wok, then a bunch with my coffee. Tobacco flavored juice helped me too. Hang in there.

I'm 5 days smoke free but...yeah morning is the hardest...I'm on 24mg and so far have been able to vape thru the cravings...but it takes me 1/2 hr to 45 minutes. I may be wrong but I think some of the nicotine in vaping is absorbed thru the mouth...so I put off the coffee for a little bit to allow more nic to get into my system (used to do this with lozenges) and not wash it out of my mouth....seems to work for me.

when i ran out of cigs that fixed that

i gave in and bought a pack today. only smoked two so far, both driving to work. once at work, i was passed the initial morning craving plus i can vape all day in my office so i havent had anymore. was really hoping to not buy any more cigs. on the upside, 2 cigs is better than the 12/day i was having prior to vaping.

That morning cig was my last holdout too. I had very quickly gone from over a pack a day to morning and after meal cigs, then dropped the after meal cigs, but it took several more weeks before I just grabbed the PV instead of the lighter.

Don’t stress about it, it comes when it comes. Going from over a pack to just one a day is an amazing accomplishment in itself.

I caught myself craving one today, and thought "no I don't want a cigarette, I want my ProVari" and was able to beat that thought right back into the cave it crawled out of with some tobaccoish vaping. I have to learn to change that "cigarette" thought permanently into "vaping" thoughts. And I have an open pack untouched for over 2 weeks, along with the rest of a carton with no one to harass me if I smoke one except myself.

I just slid into my old thought pattern is all. I have to replace it with a new one and first morning I am not thinking clearly enough for that yet!

While everything said has been good advice, I wanted to add don't beat yourself up if you are still smoking one in the morning. Many of us here at ECF smoked for months after we started vaping, some as long as a year. So just the fact that you are down to 1 is doing great. Keep it up!!!!!!

thank you :)

when i wake up i want a real cigarette and usually have one. vaping is fine for the rest of the day but for some reason i still crave a traditional cig in the morning. if i dont have one i tend to vape the living ..... out of my ecig and am still not satisfied. fortunately the rest of the day is not like this. thoughts?

I had the same issue.

I solved that little problem by getting some 24 mg. WTA infused juice here- Whole Tobacco Alkaloid WTA Eliquid Ejuice

Use that first thing in the morning and let me know how it goes.

This is primarily caused by whole tobacco alkaloid withdrawal. lotsoffish is correct, WTA liquid will probably help you kick that last cigarette. The other option, and my personally preference, is to just vape your face off and break that alkaloid addiction. The withdrawal symptoms are pretty minor compared nicotine withdrawal but take seem to take longer to break.

That said, there isn't any real problem with using WTA liquid all the time if that's what it takes for someone to quit smoking, you just miss out on one of the, in my humble opinion, best things about vaping. Basically, with out those alkaloids, nicotine isn't nearly as addictive. I vape nicotine regularly, as a personal choice, but I can set my Provari down for an entire day if I get busy and be fine. No way I could do that when I was smoking, the addiction made itself known and demanded satisfaction. Now a days, there's a whole lot less pressure, and nicotine is just something that I enjoy for its effects, much like caffeine.

So, TL DR version, try some WTA juice, and then try to longer and longer between using it until you can put it down forever, I think you'll be glad you did even if your goal isn't total nicotine cessation. If quitting nicotine and eventually vaping is your long term goal, then breaking that WTA addiction will help you even more.

I got rid of my morning cig by delaying it. first day I vaped and waited 10 min before I smoked. next day, vaping and waiting 20 min, and so on. after a week or so my first cig was at 1 in the afternoon and much easier to drop from that time slot. I am one of those who smoked and vaped. went from 2 1/2+ pad to 2 cigs a day in about a month - painlessly. I still smoke those 2 cigs before bed because I am old and I want to.
