During my dad's Basic period I had stopped cold turkey. No other brand stank to me, even after being smoke free for months. I made a ton of mistakes back then and eventually resumed, but thatz for a different time.

Mrs. States smokes Pall Mall's. I can go all day without a cigarette.... then she lights up one and I'm done. I often think big tobacco has added a subliminal something or other to the aroma during burning. Or perhaps not, but that is probably going to be my hardest trigger to get past.

I ran a short but valiant campaign to change the name to toodle POOFERS, ahh but alas, it never stuck :(
not sure why it should be either. That term should just be vapors because it's the way it started and imo the norm. If anything should change, it's the opposite of TP, maybe cloud addicts.

To me a cigarette is a cigarette, a horrible, addicting disease and death inducing product. Giving it a "nickname" is not something that I want to do but it is something that I don't want to do, others may.

I totally agree, the word "cigarette" is a disgusting reminder of what I do not want. To each his own.

But a thought here, we need to somehow remove that word from the relationship of vaping.
The world sees that word "cigarette" and that is smoking. If we want them to see there is a difference where vaping is NOT smoking then cigarette can not be within the relationship.

In my opinion, Cigarette needs to be removed from the Vaping relationship. Just my :2c: :)

MAYBE even remove it here, now that would be a big project completely contingent on Oliver's approval.
Everywhere "Cigarette" appears replace it with Vape

Food for thought!

To petition him seems to forceful I would think it could be a suggestion and then the ball is in his court. It is his website.
Very old topic around here. I personally don't care what they call it. It is what it is and who am I to tell another what a better name might be for their labor of love?

That is sort of 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other.
I agree on the "Labor of Love" BUT We want the world to know there is a difference Vaping is NOT Cigarettes NOT Tobacco.

Just like the link you have -Vapor products are not tobacco-Please Sign this petition- We DO want every one to sign it. The world needs to see the relationship between Vaping is not Cigarettes and it needs to be broken. We have to start somewhere.

I would like to note that I was watching TV last night and some guy was telling his wife she was "uncharacteristically in a good mood especially for this time," and wound up having to confess that he had an "app that tracks that" and it was "called Red Dragon," (I have no clue how the actor did it with a straight face, but anyway, it turned out, per the actor's summary that "Is the dragon still in it's castle?'" and it turned out to be true.

If there is such an app (I doubt it) and it does exist (I might have to get some app creation going on) I would rather spend my time finding it than arguing about terms, and I mention this only because I believe that an app that tracks menstruation called "Red dragon" is UNARGUABLY funny, and we should all focus on that,

PLUS as Leticia mentioned there are like bigger battles ahead.

E-vaporette-forum-vape dragon.com for the win, I think though.

I'm going to start calling them red dragons. Starting the next time I see one, which will be the next time I see the husband smoking "How's your red dragon?"

Please don't smoke your red dragon next to me (by Sting).

Look can I just say one more time how pointless this discussion is? Call them what YOU want.

Social media has provided an inflated attitude concerning who gets to say what, but I see no OFFENSE OF SENSIBILITY here YET so we still have hope.

Call them whatever you want and shut about what they "should" be called. That would be like me insisting to its parent that it's kid's name is not John, it is Future Cereal Consumer Bob, and insisting on it for days and days and like, eventually said parent would not want me around anymore.

It's your tube of tobacco so call it whatever you want. Just.... don't insist other owners of tubes of tobacco call it what you want.

I always thought cancer stick or coffin nail was super lame honestly. You can do better.

See what I mean?

This is has been brought up more times than you can count and it will never happen. The banner in your screen shot isn't even the HARD part to change. The URL is "www.e-cigarette-forum.com", so to try and break the association on this site would require....killing this site completely and starting over. So no matter how many times it's brought up, for better or worse, it's just not going to happen.

As far as what I call things, I have always been of the mindset "when in Rome...". So I tend to call them whatever people are calling them in the thread I am posting in. If I start the thread I usually just call them "cigs" for short. If I am in a thread calling them "analogs" or "stinky's" then that is what I use. If I were somewhere that called them "isdflklfjaslkfjafailfhlkllkm" then that is what I would use there. I don't get hung up on the petty stuff.

There are apps that track women's cycles. My wife and daughter both use one. Not sure what it is called though, but I doubt it's "Red Dragon" (which by the way was the first book in the Hannibal Lecter series). I suppose it would be possible for a guy to use the app to track his wife's cycles. Although an observant man shouldn't need to use one.
