I call it my,
vape
mod
Vaporizer

I always call them my Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems. But I get sorta formal about stuff like that.

why not call them "death sticks" or "cancer death sticks" ? at least it accurately depicts the dangers of using them.

"Coffin nails" was the one I liked. Now I guess it's used for some fingernail design. My daughter always tries to keep me current. I thought she was talking about having a half pack of cigarettes at the nail salon. And she doesn't smoke.

the "let's change the name of the forum" discussion has unfolded many a time here. can't forget that when this forum started there was only "cig-alike" models available. so our almamater name has a history. the first mods were made from members ripping the 510 or 808 connections out and putting them in battery boxes for RC cars and sh#t. so the name of the forum fits where we were at when the forum began. the first commercial mods were shaped like technical screwdrivers and they were still called e-cigarettes for a while.

i remember long threads discussing whether or not we should call commercial mods "mods" considering they're a far cry from modded cig-alike parts these days. we came to use the abbreviation PV for personal vaporizer. not sure if that's still a thing or not.

Shame more people don't make use of the library here and learn how far ecf and it's members have come.

I guess it's normal to ask peoples opinion and search for responses, over reading historic files for a full day.
Very interesting Thank you!

The way I look at it is it isn't the cigs fault I smoked them so I don't find them or their name offensive.

Some would have you think sponsoring motorcycle racing would make little kids smoke.
Nope, any athelete I knew back then said "smoking is stupid"..... it was those James Dean type (Rebel without a clue) who made smoking cool in my world. Joe Camel and the Marlboro man didn't convince me to do anything. The Winston Cup series didn't play a role either.

But Camel did sponsor some pretty fast motorcycles at one point. And I did buy a few packs for the free swag at times.

Rollies stink too.

Never hand a stinky rollie. Some lavender, sun dried vanilla tobacco and some other herbs and spices and they smell delightful. Never had a single chap call em stinky. I have thrice convinced people to smoke from mine.

Oddly enough I have never convinced anyone to vape, my 10 foot clouds scare them

I hear ya vaped crusader but.....

Sure, for the occasional smoker that's great. Heck, if I could smoke one here and one there.... maybe a couple a day..... I'd not have started vaping as an alternative. I think I can speak for others when I say stopping has to be an all or nothing thing. Otherwise Mr./Mrs. Cigarette rules the life again.

As a smoker I enjoy perhaps 3 a day. I mean actually enjoy like watching the clouds pass over or smelling morning coffee brewing. The other 15-40 are habitual. I think others have that same issue. So thinking of one here or one there does not compute to us.

One of the first mass produced "mods" was actually called The Screwdriver. (circa 2009)

Grimm Green was one of the original You Tube e-cig reviewers. In 2010 he did a nostalgic vaping episode.

The perspective history of e-cigarettes has always centered on the batteries that power them. "Mods" came into existance to make use of larger batteries for more battery power and longer battery time than the tiny cigarette-sized batteries. These larger battery devices also allowed the juice delivery attachments to be bigger and have a larger liquid capacity. As batteries became more powerful (thanks to technology), "sub-ohm" juice attachments and high wattage regulated mods came into existance which allowed even more vapor to be produced.
