A bad download wouldn't let any archiver extract the file without at least a big warning. My winrar doesn't extract the files If even there is a slightly problem... Just immediately displays crc error, file corrupted.
I don't think it's from the downloads.

A redownload and reinstall is always a good idea if you think you may have had a bad update. Most manufacturers will suggest a reinstall of the firmware when and update is acting suspicious. Generally good installers will check the CRC of the code that was just installed but I don't believe that YiHi installer does that. It just burns the flash and goes Eureka if it doesn't crash.
Also on my Win 8.1 system it doesn't even see the SXM unless I pull the battery out of it first. If I USB into the computer with the battery removed it sees the SXM immediately and will perform the update. I have no idea why this happens but the updates seem to install OK and I have not noticed any problems.
PS - Some one asked it the file could be corrupted during extraction from the compressed format and the answer is no. While extracting it is compiling the CRC value and when it has completed the task it compares the newly generated CRC to the one that is embedded in the RAR file and if they do not match it will delete what it just extracted and tell you that the RAR file is corrupt.
In a moment of time like this where suddently Ti demand has gone through the roof, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of miss labeled (intentionally or not) Ti wire out there.
Only a few days ago did sweet vape admit it was selling grade 2 Ti wire despite it not being advertised as such in any part of their site. They didn't explicitly lied though... Just omitted it was grade 2...
Now imagine all the other vendors out there plus the general ignorance regarding Ti...

I keep checking for the finalized version and I even wrote an email to them asking how close they were but no response.
I am kind of surprised that they haven't at least come out with a new test upgrade trying to fix the problems. They came out with laser etching serial number woopeee. Who really cares.

The Surface Pro and Win 8.1 have no issues "seeing" the SX as long as I have turned the "Link" to "On".
So, we have it resolved that IF the .rar Extractor began and completed the Unzipping that it WAS/IS a GOOD Download and Extraction sitting waiting to be installed.
Then the only possible remaining Ghost in this Machine would be the actual Install to the SX.
Gents, a fine Feat of Sherlockian Deduction and Suspect Elimination ya done did. Kudos
That leaves us poor Ti Profile Malcreants with one last Avenue of Redemption;
To Uninstall/Remove the Test Upgrade (assume you have to restore to a previous Version of Firmware to do that????) and then perform the Installation again and see what's shakin afterward.
Well that and the possibility of mis-labeled and/or misrepresented Ti Wire Grade. However, since Unkamen has proven to be Straight-Up Source (I think anyways), that possibility, at least in my and other Buyers of their Wire, is a non-Player.

Hey I got some Scotch brand double sided tape and it works wonders on the Ginger Vapes sleeves. No more sliding up. I am reasonably sure it won't hurt the Jwraps underneath.

As far as Unkamen I would put them in the Gold Standard bracket. Not that they couldn't make a mistake or a supplier make a mistake but I think they have been around far too long to play any games.

Roger That and thanks for the re-Confirmation and Validation of them for myself and other current & prospective Clients of theirs.
Besides, the SX performed the same on both Ti and Ni200 Profiles with the initial 28 GA I got from them and some 26 GA they sent after a re-stock on their part. As well as I believe some other Ti Firmware Malfunction Patients got their Ti from other Sources which would eliminate them as a Common Suspect.
It might be good to contact YiHi with any problems with the update. They could use the feedback for the final version.
I kind of think that being that the SX is popular worldwide they have a lot of feedback in 12 days.
I sent them an email a couple of days ago to ask about getting a change in the test firmware no reply.
Varitube rocks! I ordered my mod from them back when it first released and it was super fast to get it. I ordered the sleeve a few hours ago and I already have tracking and its set for Friday delivery, no complaints here period!
