Rip is really good at building coils and getting wicking right though. Could just be that.

He's the best for instructional videos have learned a lot from him I just don't trust his reviews. This is a store built head with cooperation of those who shant be named and Kanger so the build had nothing to do with it. Sold by VS

I think the guy could find a wire in the street and wrap some elaborate coil and make it work

You're giving him way too much credit. His coil builds are basic, and copied from others, generally he's good about giving props to the person that came up with the coil at least, but they are definitely nothing special.

Aside from that, I'm using the ni200 OCC with my STmini atm, and it works fine for me on a dna 40, really wanted to try in on a SX mini today, but USPS had other ideas.

Wow I tried mine set to exactly his specs 450 degrees 27.5w maybe I should put it in Stealth mode so I don't have to see that flashing. USPS is really doing some weird things. I bought something from CA it went to TX then here took 6 days Priority Mail. I got an authentic Tugboat to try with nickel. I live in WA state last time I checke TX is not on the way from CA

Got my SXmini M Class today!
Overall I'm very pleased with the finish.
Just one thing... sleeve seems to be little off on one side.
Is there a way to align it better if I unscrew top and bottom screws a bit (like on zero mod)?

That issue exists on a lot of these SXmini M Class devices apparently, mine included.

I'm not willing to accept the risk of losing my warranty if they find out I backed out those screws... But if someone else wants to try loosening them up, I'm all for it! LoL

I know I have seen some pretty perfect coil on here. My hands are not that steady anymore so I use a coil master. I just wish they would come out with something that would use a contact coil although I have made some pretty good spaced coils. The problem I have had is they work great to start but fizzle out in the end to quote CSN&Y also have had problems with rewicking and cleaning the old coil find it easier to put a new one in.

Legs,

For someone that has given up on TP as many times as you have your sure keep trying. - Salute! ;)

That said anyone that says using Ni200 and any TP mode Mod is easy is not being totally honest. "And that's the truth" (SNL)

Tips:

hardened ni 200

Left hand screw for right hand coil, right hand screw for left hand coil

Gentle with the positioning

Brute with the tightening

Keep above minimum recommended resistance.

Don't cross the leg under the screw, avoid using post holes.

If the mod is solid (connector, wires, ground, battery) and so is the atty (posts, deck, positive center pin), it should work ok.

Tony

I'm going to be really interested in Busardos review. He's long winded but does the most testing of anyone and gives his honest opinion even if he is friends with the CEO of the company. Should be interesting I really like and respect his views, have been in contact with him several times in the last 3 or so years and always gives me good advice. RIP has an assistant that you can contact. I always get a reply directly from Phil.

Not sure if this is considered hardening but got some tempered from Stealth and I use RIP's wire straightening method which also works on NI200 not sure what left hand and right hand coil is. I think it means putting the coil on so that tightening the screws will not put pressure on the coil causing it to deform in other words backwards from the way you do kanthal when you tighten it down it doesn't pull on the coil

I know I want it to work so bad. It has such a clean flavor when they start out it amazes me but just can't get it to keep working like that. When it starts out all you taste is the juice the way it's supposed to taste. I've got too many rolls of NI200 to give up completely.

Follow what Tony said that is the secret to success.

But I will throw in one thing that Tony didn't you and I are no spring chickens. No insult meant. But I have some trouble with taste also but I am fairly confident that my tasters don't function at peak performance anymore.

I find that if I have at least a couple of Attys on the coffee table and switch flavors it helps. If I stick with on flavor for hours for me it ends up like vaping unflavored PG/VG + Nic. Not bad but my taste buds seem to go flavor dead fairly quickly. I am seventy years old and haven't always been kind to my taste buds and olfactory system.

Not saying this is your problem but just suggesting you might want to consider that for some of us the first few puffs are great but ... well you get the idea.

PS - When I first stopped smoking and switched to vaping I couldn't taste any of the flavors. It took months to recover that which I have recovered but it sure isn't what I had when I was 30. Come to think of it that is true for most things in my life.

Still don't see the point of displaying joules over wattage ...

I'd much rather know the throttle point of my current build and what my current power level is than how many joules my device is set for in the first second.

PBusardo just mentioned in his Goblin RTA video that he thinks it may be because of Evolv patents.

Finally got my Ni200 in and tbh I don't care for the taste. Getting kinda a warm undertone of burnt copper or something. Tried a few different coils 2 different decks. all between .15 - .18 Ω some spaced and some contact but have gotten that taste with all of them. I've torched some and some were not before wicking them and no change. Hoping it will go away after awhile as I haven't used any of them more than 4-5 draws.

I, like you, was frustrated and wanted to give up on TC.

I got some of Stealth Vapes tempered 28 gauge Ni200. But the key was I finally put that coil in a cheap clone RDA, that has good solid connection points and NO adjustable center pin. The main word in TC builds is SOLID. All wire connection points and contact points must be solid. There are lots of RBAs, RTAs, & RDAs that do not have SOLID wire connection points and SOLID 510 connection points.

Once I stumbled upon trying this RDA I finally understood and appreciated TC. I have two DNA40 devices and I can put this RDA on either one and even move it between the two. It doesn't jump out of TC mode and the ohms don't fluctuate more than .01. It just works.

When you find something that holds the Ni200 coil SOLID and have SOLID 510 connections are SOLID, then it should work. Also make sure your firing pins and 510 connections are clean.

I haven't tried any pre-made coils yet so I can't speak to them other than saying make sure the coil is screwed in VERY TIGHT and all contact points are clean and SOLID. One thing I saw posted somewhere was that Evolv had been quoted as saying the atomizer needed to be crank down on the mod which is counter to everything I ever knew about vaping. But I have a feeling it is necessary with TC to achieve those SOLID connections.

Good luck, don't give up.
