Found something strange. I wanted to test the USB port so I plugged in a cable then set the link option to on and the sx mini reset itself. Once it came back up the link option was still set to off. I decided to remove the USB set the link option to on then plug in the usb cable and it reset again but this time did not come back. I had a moment of freak out so pulled the battery and replaced it and the sx mini is back to normal.

It seems to charge just fine so not thinking anything is wrong with the USB port itself.

Can anyone else give the link option a test to see if they see the same behavior?

When you go into link option to do an update you do basically reset the device. While at the same time having the Yihi software up on your pc and device connected to the USB you hit connect icon. Presumably you'd have already installed the drivers.

My Link option works fine but saying that I most likely will never use it. I would suggest you remove your battery then connect it to your USB and then run Yihi software. This seems to be less troublesome to me.

I have tried the built in USB charger and it works fine but I prefer to use my XTAR XP4 for all of my batteries because it has't let me down yet and even with doing super low builds on my mechs I have yet to have even 1 18650 or 18350 go bad after using this charger for about 1 year! My batteries have outlasted everyone I know who has done similar mech builds. The only thing I can equate it to is my use of a better charger. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I've been using the Nitecore Intellicharger i2 for a while now and haven't had a problem. I just bought the XTAR VC4 and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail.

Ok I feel better now I had the SX software installed and I was able to connect the device. I assume once an update it out we will get new software because the software say the firmware as 1.3.x and undefined for the other items on the information page.

Can you link to the place you found upgrade 1.3.x ? I have only seen 1.2 on their site and my SX say it has v1.4.

So at the moment you have me wondering where you found 1.3.x

There is not any software out for the SXmini M class that I'm aware of. I believe the 1.3 your referring to would be for the S class. So don't try doing any updates else you may brick your device. :) They could certainly improve in their documentation on updates. To check the version you have on your device you can take the battery out, hold the fire button down then put the battery back in while holding the fire button. It should come up with 1.4 for the M class

Another friend of mine who also vapes has a 4 slot Nitecore charger and he has had no problems either(Although he doesn't do any crazy builds)! But from what I've heard Nitecore is also one of the better charging systems so I'm sure they are much better than less advanced, cheap chargers or using the built in USB. IMHO if we want to get the most from our batteries we should have quality chargers like XTAR, Nitecore etc. So I guess I don't mind if the manufacture recommends them!

Nitecore Intellicharger is pretty much solid as they get. Ive had three 4 bays for over a year and never skipped a beat and never fried a battery. I carry one in my car when traveling.

There is a great review on the M class on YouTube from the Vapor Chronicles. He uses a twisted 28awg NI200 and 28awg kanthal and it works flawlessly. looks to be about 8 or 10 wraps at maybe 3mm. Has anyone tried this. He comes up with a .15 build.

Do you have a link?

It's funny you said that. Last week I ordered a Xtar VC4 charger to go with my Nitecore D4 intellicharger. Yesterday morning I went to charge 2 18650 batteries and the Display never came on. I tried everything but no luck. It was like my Nitecore knew I was getting another charger and it died on me. Never had any problems with it just have lots of batteries so I could always use another charger. It was like 8 months old so now we'll see how I like the Xtar then maybe I'll try the Efest Luc V4 or another Nitecore.
