Absolutely... that's the only way I can use the SS430 now. It's really amazing 2x or 3x twisted. I've converted almost all my tanks to that, but if I was only going to wrap a single, it would still be 26ga Ti.
I'll have to try 3x twisted next time. That may be a little tricky with how springy this stuff is, but I'm sure I'll manage.

I put the 2x twisted in a Hastur rda, which has a tiny little build deck, so I think I should be able to get 2x twisted in most of my dual coil RTAs I use. Have a new Goliath v2 soaking in soapy water right now, and have a feeling some twisted SS430 is in its future.

Wrap it on a smaller diameter rod and don't fight the spring. For a 2.5 mm coil, I've been using a 2 mm rod, wrap the coil, then work in the 2.5 mm rod. It does take a bit of work... generally have to twist it in as if it was threaded, but then the 2.5 mm coil is nice and tight and if you're going for dual coils, it's easier to make them as close to identical as you can.

Having a hell of a time doing normal coils with 430. Not just the springiness, but it also keeps hot legging and snapping. Looks like I'll be trying twisted too.

Thanks for the annealing tip @f1vefour , I'll try that as well.

Love the flavor from this aqua v2, but trapping with screws is a pain coming from a velocities set screws. Think I'll try the twisted with the velocity again before I go back to the aqua.

I did have a problem with springiness on the first coil I wrapped but since I started annealing it...it's easier than kanthal to coil.

I haven't had any issues with breaking or hot legs but I could see it being an issue when wrapping without being annealed because the half wraps at the ends won't be touching the wick due to back lashing.

I'm running an 8 or so wrap spaced single stand, 2.4mm @ 0.73 ohms in my kayfun in TC mode and she's vaping nicely. I would have built it twisted but It's pulling NET duties and I need rapid cool down to keep gunking to a minimum. I also vaped it in wattage mode, it's great either way.

I've got half a mind to buy a mod that regulates decently in TC with SS and use the chip inside for a mod I'm making for myself. Don't want to have to work 2 batteries into it for a DNA200, because the mod will also be bottom fed (would make for a *huge* mod).

Any opinions on which chip?
There aren't very many TC chips available that can do SS especially sold separate. You may have to buy a mod and take the chip out of it.

Probably the SXK DNA40 clone board, the 60W variant with nickel purity setting. Not sure if you can find the board for sale not in a mod, but you can get one in a mod for under $50.

I didn't word it the best, but gutting a mod like that was my intention from the start. Was just looking for feedback on the mod to go for. Most likely either SXK or Reliant if what I'm looking at (price really isn't a factor since I'm looking for this to be the relative end all for what I need for vaping)

SXK makes the board in the Reliant. It does have a couple extra features (not related to TC) vs their regular DNA40 clone boards though.

I tend to always dry fire mine in a light limited room with the ceramic tweezers handy to knock the coil around a bit. It always seems that contact coils are almost "shorted" or at very low resistance until I can get the wire glowing good - then the resistance settles into a decent value.

I twisted up some wire this weekend, even it it with the torch a bit before twisting (it was slightly discolored afterwards). I put a twisted coil in a STM and - same issue with 'low resistance' until fired and 'tweaked' a bit with the tweezers.

The problem was that I could not get a reliable vape off of it. (I use very tight twists with the drill) I'm thinking as the coil heats the two twisted wires short/unshort to each other depending on surface oxidization. I ended up swapping that RBA out with a SS430 contact coil I had made earlier and have taken that build with me to work two days.
