Steve from Pure Smoker did a great job.

The bill passed with Section 18 deleted! It won't be a law for a good while because it still has a slew of Committees to go through.

Does this mean that we need to keep on eye on it through each committee to ensure that Section 18 doesn't do a Zombie on us?

I doubt that will happen, but we should still keep up-to-date on this. Steve is only 20 minutes away from the statehouse, and when possible he's going to try to attend the meetings on this bill as it moves forward

Thanks too...was surprised that Armstong actually thinks that (my summary of his views): if done right, e-cigs are a good product that apparently deserved a fair playing field against tobacco! Naturally, if that's the case then we need to support local e-cig busnesses but at the same time, make sure everyone is taxed fairly too, but leave approval and regulation of them to the FDA.

Great job, Steve! Keep up the good fight!!

Unfortunately, I think you may have that backwards? What I (and others I've spoken to who watched) heard him say is that e-cigs need to be taxed to give the tobacco industry/farmers a fair playing field. Very different sentiment.

what you guys weren't able to see is the Big Tobacco Lobbyist that followed Armstrong out of the Room.

After the bill was heard, Rep Armstrong asked if he could speak with me privately outside. In talking to Rep Armstrong, we were approached by a Big Tobacco Lobbyist who says he has been working with Rep Armstrong on the taxation aspect of the bill. We originally thought this person was another representative until Placebo pointed out this man was a registered lobbyist.

As Rep Armstrong outlined to the Subcommittee, this won't be the last time ecigs are brought up in bills in the TN House, its just the start.

I have my doubts Rep Armstrong was entirely genuine especially when we found out who he had in his back pocket.
