Maybe next time kat or I posts an article on there, we can get as many comments to boost our visibility with PRO ecig articles!! I hate that this guy is getting all of this exposure to his tabloid-ish article.

After reading his responses, I felt all he was looking for was hits. He took the FDA press release and an article written by another unnamed source as his whole argument. Absolutely no depth to any of his points of view. It would be interesting what he "markets", probably himself.

If just one key would stick, which one would be the best?
Maybe the one that says "Enter>":D
VRNN Please don't give them any ideas! Haven't seen that specifically but seizures by customs has probably scared a few. Especially when our FDA ends up in court with the dealers, but that ended sort of badly, since they were over-ruled and ordered to release the shipments. I just hope a lot of observers saw that as well, but generally that kind of news isn't really news, since it requires consistent and long-term interest.

Honestly, if he's getting paid for page hits then I say we just remove the link and forget about him. He represents at least half of the ignorant people I speak to week after week about PVs, dribbling nonsense like the good little sheep they are. We could argue with him until we're blue in the face, or maybe even until he sees the light, but what's the point if his pockets are just getting fatter. I don't care if he understands the truth or not, seems like we're pursuing the wrong opponent when everything he writes is just regurgitated hype. Don't let your anger turn into his money, he's a pissant.

Ugh, I had to go back one last time and comment. I can only hope he gets paid for each unique visit...

He's getting his pink panties all in a ruflle about these ecig containing nicotine. How can that help us quit if it still contains the addictive substance? Ugh, so doesn't get it.

So I had to ask him: Can you say you are not addicted to ANYTHING? Caffeine, sex, bad journalism for money?

Geez, at least MY addiction isn't hurting others anymore!

Sorry, but I haven't met a single person in my life that wasn't addicted to SOMETHING and this guys acting like we're freaks because we want our nicotine in a non-deadly form.

Don't think anyone here was idiotic enough to try ecigs without a little research, so why do people insist on writing about them if they don't know? I just don't know how someone could just regurgitate what someone else wrote and not even be interested in the subject? Why do we have all these non-smokers writing articles about these things? That would be like if I wrote an article about living on Mars....

And they pay these jerks for this crap?

"It's for the Children!" my ...!

Hmmm... what do you think is better for kids? Second hand smoke or second hand vapor? If their parents can't or won't quit nicotine, why shouldn't they be able to get it in a form that approximates the experience they've become accustomed to and is exponentially less harmful?

I won't go back just in case every hit, every refresh is tallied toward his ill-gotten gains... but GAWD I so wanna tell that guy exactly what I think of him.

I was tempted to post again yesterday, but refrained. However, with a nights sleep I had to do it. Yesterday I came up with the idea of taking his 2007 article on how great e cigs were and basically post it as a comment to this "article". I changed a few words and took out some of the specific product references, but I ended it almost the same as he ended his 2007 "article"-

"You have to agree Steve, this device can be very helpful for anyone who wants to quit smoking. Rather than criticizing them, you should be asking yourself and others to think about who this product might help and suggest the e cig to them. Better yet, go out and buy one as a gift for them. You may just be saving their life!"

His response- "Why not try a cigarette that does not contain nicotine? That seems like the right direction to go. Why not just quit cold turkey like many people before you have in the past?"

Now I'm thinking of one last post but I don't think I can do it. Let him know that I used his words from 2007 to comment. He is so full of himself, the self proclaimed marketing professional that works at the Berkshire Co Op Market as a Grocery/Buying/Receiving Manager and has done so for a little over 2 years after two jobs that lasted 2 months and 9 months respectively. He wasn't even listed on the management team on their web site but there was a "Marketing and Communications Manager". Apparently he's not part of her team. I can understand why, considering he spends so much time on the internet during the day.

His latest article- recommending the smokeless ashtray..... Go figure.

Nice article Kat.

Did anyone notice he claims that there's nicotine in e-cigarettes and proceeds to talk about about the e-cigar as if they are one and same to confuse the reader?

"One of the most shocking results was the discovery of nicotine in almost every single electronic cigarette that was tested. I find this appalling because many of the E-Cigars advertise that they contain absolutely no nicotine what so ever. It is amazing to discover that they have been getting away with doing the exact opposite. Consumers who have been trying to quit have been exposed to the nicotine without even knowing, making them more reliant on the E-Cigar than they once thought."

I just did a search on the title and Google matched it, but when I clicked the link to Associated Content, got the message "The content you are looking for is unavailable."
Ha! Maybe it got removed because of some of the reasons stated here (i.e. inaccurate information).

ETA: Yep. Just confirmed it from the original link.

The ..... published this one instead:
Electronic Cigarettes: The Nasty Truth About How They Harm Your Health
Nicotine is a Addictive Drug that Makers Have Used to Keep Users Hooked

A recent article that I published addressed electronic cigarettes and how the FDA believes they should be banned. The publication of this article resulted in a large out pouring of anger. Many users of electronic cigarettes pointed out that the FDA may of done a biased study. This has resulted in these users forming advocate groups that support electronic cigarettes. They believe it is a healthy alternative that is not as bad as the FDA claims. I am here to say that they are right in the electronic cigarettes not being as bad as cigarettes, but they are still a horrible product that needs to be pulled off the market.

There are a lot of smokers out there who either want to quit or want to rid themselves of some of the "annoying" aspects that come with smoking. Many users hate the smoke that comes from cigarettes because of how toxic they are. However, companies have worked hard to create an alternative for smokers and this has come in the form of electronic cigarettes. They offer smokers a alternative that they claim is healthier because it does not create smoke.

I would like to point out that these cigarettes are healthier because they do not create smoke. We must also remember that because they are healthier that it does not mean they are indeed healthy. What makes electronic cigarettes just as bad, if not worse than cigarettes is the ability to breathe in any amount of nicotine.

Breathing in nicotine through electronic cigarettes is known as vaping. When a user breathes in the nicotine it becomes vaporized. Smokers get to enjoy smoking a cigarettes that produces no smoke but allows the users to receive nicotine like they normally would. The electronic cigarettes also have no smell, no flame, and no tar. These are the things that are usually attributed to lung cancer in users.

Now let us look at Nicotine before we go any further. Cosmo's Magazine did some research and found that nicotine may not be a deadly carcinogenic, but it is highly addictive. After each inhalation of smoke, nicotine reaches the brain within 20 seconds and can be felt within a minute. It is also five times more potent than ....... or morphine. This results in behavioral and psychological effects that are often associated with additions. You should also know that nicotine dependence has always been associated with the difficulty in trying to quit smoking. Users of electronic cigarettes might quit smoking traditional cigarettes but will struggle to give up electronic cigarettes.

Nicotine also binds to the area of the brain called adrenal medulla. This area is responsible for the increased flow of adrenaline. Nicotine in this area caused increased blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing problems. Finally, nicotine has also been attributed to people developing sleeping disorders. This is because the drug stimulates a smoker's nervous system and helps it stay alert and awake instead of receiving the proper sleep the body needs.

It was important to find out all the negative affects caused by nicotine because users of electronic cigarettes believe that giving up all the horrible effects from traditional cigarettes will help them be healthy. Sure, it might help them be a bit healthier when it comes to certain areas of health but will result in other areas of health being compromised.

Users of electronic cigarettes can put as many drops of nicotine into one of them as they wish. For the most part, people will follow the guidelines and fill the electronic cigarettes appropriately. Each filling into the cartridge is the equivalent of 15 cigarettes (according to ArticleSource). That is a lot of nicotine. We must be realistic with our thinking that users will abuse the electronic cigarette and quickly smoke through the 15 cigarettes. If someone is a true chain smoker, this could result in someone smoking 60 to 80 cigarettes a day. You must admit that smoking electronic cigarettes does not sound as healthy.

My basic conclusion is the electronic cigarettes are no better than smoking traditional cigarettes. You might be able to quit by switching to this product, but the same can be said for many other products out there that do not provide the same damage. Electronic cigarettes allow you to continuously supply your body with nicotine, a substance that is similar to ....... and incredibly addictive. This is proof that you are not quitting smoking as you wish because you are simply replacing one habit for another. Electronic cigarettes trick users into believing that they are helping their bodies by promoting the actual health benefits that do take place. However, they also hide the dirty secret of what the nicotine can do to a user.

Electronic cigarettes should be banned for this reason. They also should be banned because they are being marketed in a way that is also appealing to curious children and young adults. One use of this product could instantly cause them to crave the nicotine and seek out ways to fulfill this craving. This could result in them smoking more of the electronic cigarette or substituting actual cigarettes to fill their craving. You can see how this is another reason that this product is bad.

Anyone who claims that vaping and electronic cigarettes are good has to be out of their mind. They have fallen prey to the smart and clever marketing that has come from the companies that make them. People need to become more aware of how horrible the increased amount of nicotine can be to your health, how these products could affect the youth, and how you are simply replacing one addiction from another. Electronic cigarettes need to be banned and let us hope the FDA continues their quest to do so.

I posted a comment - don't know if it'll last. What an incredible idiot.

Once again, you have twisted the facts.

No one claims that electronic cigarettes are "healthy." We claim - and the FDA study supports - that they are "healthier" and "safer" than smoking real cigarettes, because they contain less toxins and carcinogens. Nothing is 100% safe - but there needs to be alternatives to the thousands of toxic ingredients in tobacco smoke.

There is no more ability to "breathe in any amount of nicotine" with electronic cigarettes than with regular cigarettes. The nicotine liquid has a set amount of nicotine in it and the number of drops you put into the cartridge is in no way related to the amount of nicotine. If someone was a heavy smoker, they will likely be a heavy "vaper," but they will eliminate most of the bad stuff - except nicotine - from their lungs.

Your authoritative source - Cosmo - states the dangers of nicotine. What made nicotine dangerous was that they kept people smoking. Nicotine is a stimulant - not much worse than caffiene. Will you be calling for coffee bans next?

Saying ecigarettes are no better than traditional cigarettes is like saying Ben & Jerry's is no worse than frozen yogurt, because frozen yogurt still has some fat. Astoundingly ignorant and misleading. I'm shocked that you would even print that and basically tell people to just go right on smoking. Unbelievable.

OMG Kristin, I just found the new article too before I read your post!

You know, I don't want to make this guy money from this new article, but he published even MORE idiotic information that I really think we need to respond to. We basically convinced him to change SOME of his completely WRONG information, why can't we do it again?

If you read the new article, he straight out says that these e-cigs are being marketed to children, which I have NEVER seen. Where's his proof?

Also, he basically calls everyone here a ..... that can't see through marketing tactics and were "convinced" that ecigs are perfectly healthy. Um, I don't think anyone here thinks they are perfectly healthy, just a HEALTHIER alternative. He's stating e-cigs are so unhealthy because we are severely INCREASING our nicotine intake, which studies are starting to show otherwise.

I can't believe this guy! I just can't stand ignorance!

How much money does he make per hit?

Because if we only go back there if we intend to post information to refute his claims, then we may add up to only about 60 hits at the very most, and I can't imagine that is worth very much.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

I know Firegrl, but I almost suspect that he is writing that to get a rise out of us and make even more money!

Luckily, out of all of the articles on AC, his is one of only a very few negative voices and there are other, positive articles in the side links to his articles. Hopefully, my one comment will be enough to get people to research further.

Don't give him any money!!

It can be anywhere from 25 cents to a few dollars.

But it also increases his views and puts him in the "most comments" list, which could increase his exposure and more people will go read the article & give him more hits.

This is definitely one where we want to not give it any exposure and it'll just languish and get lost in the shuffle.

Better to go to one of my articles or Kat's article and comment there about his misinformation, to get the positive articles more exposure.
