Well I built a dual coil this evening on it, and I don't quite like it... too strong for my taste... I know, I a wimp vaper hehehe

I got it to a dual coil 28g 2.5mm dia to 1.0 ohms, and if i need any good vapor, I have to get the volts up there , and by then, it is too strong for me... and if I lower the volts to the level I like... then it takes 2-3 primer puff to get it good... hmmm I think I'll revert to single coil, it was pretty good!

Any of you guys find the same?

:)

.7 ohm dual 28g on a 5/64 drillbit. Running at 12W. First hit is a little weak, but subsequent hits are just fine.

What watts are you running at when you say "too strong"?

Got my FT OEM yesterday. Need to find a good looking and fitting DT for this. Single coil, twisted 30 g. 0.7 ohm. Still working on getting max wicking. Overall very satisfied.

Hey Guys, thanks for your input and questions...

Late last night I tried a 26 gauge single coil.. came up to 1.1 Ω and, I know I do I prefer a soft weak vape... hehehe. At that setting @ 14 -16 watts the reaction time and the vape is great, but it is too much throat hit for me ( I use 60/40 pg/vg 8 mg) then if I lower the watts to the level where it's a smooth vape for me, it takes a long time to warm up and I end up taking lots of primer puffs... perhaps dual coils is not for me yet... maybe later I'll try with 30 or even 32 gauge in dual coils to see what it does...

So early this morning I replaced with a 28 gauge @ 1.9 Ω running now at 7 watts with boost level 2B (that's on the P3 BTW)

Ha, forgot to mention I build at 2.5 mm diam.

I think I'm very comfortable with a single coil, I may try lower Ω today on a single coil 28g and see how that goes... also like I said before , maybe this evening try 30 or 32 dual? I like to experiment and right now I have the time to play before my vacation in the south in Jan... I hope I have the perfect setup by then hehehe

cheers.

Reg

Ps: i notice that with smaller dia wires, I tend to break the wires in the post holes...

Are you finding it hard to not break the wires (30g gauge) in the posts holes?

Like the carbon look with it...

Regzzz - I haven't sanded the screws, but with the twisted 30g wire, it does not cut through, seems very solid and stable. I did some pretty tuff pulling and adjusting after connecting the coil and everything held fine.

Ha, yes, I previously failed to see the "twisted" hehehe

Thanks for the info.. :)

You'd only need to drill one hole through the fairly thin rim of metal on the side below the build deck and opposite the original hole.

Tried this, but apparently the main insulator wasn't channeled out on the opposite side. Ended up drilling two more holes on either side of the main hole to get more flow. I'd suggest going this route for anyone looking for more airflow.

Side note: does anyone know how to remove the main insulator? No amount of pounding with a hammer could seem to get it to budge.

A warning to anyone buying the Tobeco version: Be very careful what liquids you put into the plastic topcap!!! I've always used tanks with plastic in them, and never had a problem with any liquid! The first night I used this, the tank developed several hairline cracks around the top rim. Very disappointed, as I never had any intention to use the steel tank, and no one is selling replacement tanks that I can find. If anyone can find one, please let me know.

Other than that, I'm very happy with the purchase. Threading and build quality seem to be very nice on the Tobeco. Vapes as good as the orchid, no screwdriver to refill, and no leaking issues... yet.
