I recently got a voltage meter and tested the 5V power supply everyone seems to be using: USB Dual Power Adapter

I measured the voltage and it is actually 6.1V when using only one of the ports.
I fried my 401 yesterday using that USB adapter with my BB PT. :( I was loving the 401 at 6V (even though it runs a bit hot), but oh well....

Odd, maybe that is why it is so cheap. I've gotten a lot of good reviews on that device. Wonder if I should remove it from the list. I am working on sourcing a walwart just for the BB PT. I am hoping I can hit the right price point with it.

Honestly Chad, I've been using three of these devices since July and not one of them has ever given me a problem. They aren't cheap at all, just inexpensive. Every bit of feedback I've ever gotten on this adapter has been excellent. After reading vjtk's post I checked all three of mine with my multi meter and they all came back at between 5.11V to 5.12 V on one port. It's possible that vjtk may have have been unlucky enough to get a bad adapter, but it would be the 1st negative feedback on these I've ever seen.

yeah measured it again with the VM and it came out to 6.08v on both ports, both used one at a time. So Mark, you measured 5.12V? Where are you putting your leads? The first time I used the connecter at the end of the USB cable. The second time I tested the threads and "+ nipple" on the end of the PT.

So I've had one of these die on me out of nowhere. Bad review #1. Also, since mine is running at over 6V, you think thats why the 401 got shot using the PT? I did love the 401 at 6V but obviously too much voltage? I wonder IF my adapter did 5V as it says it should, if my 401 would've crapped out... What do you guys think?

I have a Standard Radio Shack Auto Range Digital Multi Meter. The leads are just small enough to fit and clear the USB port on the adapter. I place the positive lead on pin 1 and the negative lead on pin 4 of the adapter itself(the outer leads-as per the standard USB Type A pin assignments), even if I would get it backwards, my multimeter would read negative rather then positive volts(which I've done a few times- but still the same numerical value). I just tried it again right now on the one I have at work and got 5.12V.

P.S. Same reading on port #2 5.12V

I definitely think you were unlucky enough to get one with a bad voltage regulator(which,as I said before, is the 1st bad one I've heard of). I would contact Steve at tas.electronics@hotmail.com or call him at 469-744-4887. Tell him your from the E-cig forum and I'm sure he'll send you out a replacement. Or if like the 6v Vaping experience(which many do) just make sure you keep any further atty's you use very wet at all times to prevent them from blowing. I don't know about 401's , but my 510's do very well at 6V as long as they're kept from getting too dry.

Personally, I like the krinkled version. Classier than the flat black, plus grips in your hand better. Question is if the "krinkle" chips off???

I've had mine for 2 months and it still looks like it did the day I got it.

I haven't dropped it or anything, but I don't baby it either. When I drop it in a coat pocket, I don't even consider what else is in there that might rub against it.

I wish I could get a krinkle finish on my SB, or buy another one in black krinkle.
