Tile Bit and Tapered Grinding Stone from Home Depot. Ive never made a mod that I didnt use both a LOT. The bit is excellent for removing a lot of material FAST. But, be careful because you an remove too much material if you arent paying attention (including skin from your fingers). Without it, grinding out the hole in the gasket takes FOREVER. I use the bit to rough out the size hole and then the grinding stone to bring the hole into round and the last minor adjustment.

I use beveled washers every chance I get because the more surface area the gasket has the more stable it will be. Heres a before and after pic its the right size for assembly
Nicely done Parallex.
Can you make me ten?
Seriously.

I can make you 10 or 12 or 20. The number I can make is directly proportional to the amount of BWB Malty Toffee you can get your hands on.....seriously.![]()
hiya mudflap,I'm having horrible luck enlarging the holes in the rubber gasket and washer. I've got assorted bits and grinding stones, but I can't figure out how to successfully use them on the gasket & washer. They're too small and too squishy. I can't clamp them to a flat surface and holding them in my fingers while drilling/grinding is stupid.
If anyone can offer some tips, I'd be glad to listen.
Otherwise, this mod is more trouble than it's worth. (for me)
This is my tank project, it costs a little more than $3 but it is worth it.

Hi Mudflap... what works for me is to take a piece of scrap wood, drill a 5/8" hole about 3/16" deep... then loosely cover with a piece of electrical tape. When you fit the washer down into the hole, the tape will provide a good snug fit and should keep it still enough to work with. If it still wants to move, then use a paddle bit to hold down the side of the washer as you drill. I use a drill press with an 11/32" bit. I centered and clamped my scrap wood down and then all that's left is to drill, change washer, drill, etc. I did three or four ten packs of washers in less than a half hour. Hope that helps!
By the way, thanks Parallex2! Awesome work!
Last night I was thinking, "I wish I had a drill press."
Thanks, TNT! I may try that.

Whatever works for you. I couldn't make that work, but someone else could. All I have and all I can do is with a Dremel and attachments.
The one thing nobody has mentioned is.....freeze the gasket before you start working on it. I keep a bowl of crushed ice on my desk. Whe rubber freezes it get hard and less pliable and easier to work.
