One last pic and then it's time for me to move on to new stuff

Using the 901 atty, the draw got lean after a while on almost all mixes so the simple solution was to create an add'l air hole in the collector tank and then use a sliding sleeve to cover and uncover giving it an adjustable draw.

JUST a modder?? Someone got their knickers in a twist? Pardon me, but from my vantage point a modder IS an innovator.

Kat, I don't think the guy really meant it like it sounded. Everybody knows by now that the modders messing with syringes is where Clearo's came from. Cept the Chinese should have carried the thievery alittle further and used better tubes. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu

I meant no harm, otrpu (otterpew?). I just reacted to someone saying "just a modder" when in my most humble opinion, those that mod are the creators of what our future will be (as you noted).

So, no disagreement here. Thanks for your input tho.

And Parallex2, as we all know (or will know), is an innovator of a supreme future.

Cheers back atya ;)

I was wondering if something like this (cut down to length of course) would be suitable for the mod. As they are only $2.50 for a pack of ten you could afford a few 'prototype' mishaps (lol).

Centrifuge tubes with blue screw caps. These are your standard 15ml plastic tubes, 5" long x 5/8" dia

You can find them here if you want.

sciplus

or this one
Hold approx 35ml and measure 3-7/8" long (with cap) x 1" diameter. $4.50 for ten

which you can find here

sciplus-2

Thanks to the poster suggesting this place, its really a lot of fun. Pity I can't use it as I'm in OZ, but for most of you guys 'n gals it sure has a lot of goodies.

The Chinese were thinking about a "see through" CE-2 before the syringe mod was developed. They were monitoring our thread on EFC way back when, and the seed was planted when they saw two windows chopped in the side of a stainless steel tube for test purposes. Then came the first primitive bottle mod and they were monitoring that one too. Then a more sophisticated bottle mod was developed that sealed the reservoir. It had a cut stainless steel tube, just like the one used for the mod in this thread. Then along came the first syringe mod. It used the same method, but it was put in a syringe tube instead of a bottle.

Your opinion about the Clearomizer tube is a mild version of mine. In my opinion they are absolutely awful, but for some reason people keep on buying them, even after their first ones broke up and fell apart. The newest ones are better, but still not as good as they could be.

I didn't have any bottles with caps so decided to try a 10ml syringe (that idea was stolen from another forum member who made a mod using those) I bought 6 10ml syringes on ebay for $4. I cut the top and bottom off the syringes with a razor cutter (next time will use a dremel cutter blade) I cut the syringe tube to a little over 8ml long. I used the gasket that is in the plunger for the bottom of this mod, I cut a hole in it with a grinding stone to accommodate the clearomizer, but when I unscrewed it from the battery, the clearomizer would separate from the syringe body and dump juice all over- so I sealed it to the gasket with aquarium sealant.

The only thing I did with this mod that I think was clever is that I found this gasket that looks like a 'top hat' at Ace Hardware, they were 20 cents each and were perfect for the top. I ground out the solid top to accommodate the piece of clearomizer tube that I was using and stuck that in there, then pushed the gasket on top of the syringe. The only problem was that it leaked through the tube, so I took the translucent gasket from the clearomizer (that sits on top of the ceramic cup) and secured that to the end of the clearomizer tube. I had to use aquarium sealant so that it wouldn't move up into the tube when it made contact with the ceramic cup

The finished mod..my cutting of the syringe tube was so sloppy that I used a piece of shrink tube to cover that at the bottom.

It works great and doesn't leak at all. The only thing that I want t change is I would like to make it possible to easily remove the clearomizer from the bottom gasket, without destroying the gasket- I'm going to play around with o-rings later today and see if they help. Total cost (without counting cost of clearomizer or sealant was about 90 cents

Here is my take on these,
I have tried various methods and the best one that has held up with out leaking or falling apart is this:
clearomiser.jpg
I used a sharpened 510 dead atty to punch the holes in the 1/2L Bibb washers. Works really well and makes it a very tight seal.
iPhone 020.jpg
I first insert the XL clero guts into one of the washers then push it from the top of the bottle to the bottom, since I drilled a 1/2" hole in the bottom of the bottle there is a 1/8" lip that does not allow the washer to come out of the bottom of the bottle.

Using an old 510 atty body inserted in the other two "inverted" washers (Flat side to flat side), this allows the 510 tube to settle on the silicon cap of the the XL assy without leaking.

All in all a very solid unit.
Hope this helps,
Dan

Just buy a .99 cent adapter from 808 to 510...
Dan

I wasn't clear, Dan, sorry. :) The CE2s I have are 808 connections and I would still like to run them on 808 batteries...just wondering if anyone has bottle or syringe modded with a native 808 on the CE2. I've seen lots of info/pics on the CE2s with native 510s, just not the 808. Thanks!
